For this video I'm venturing off the classical path with an awesome fusion piece called "Cielo Abierto" by Quique Sinesi!
The Argentinian guitarist and composer is famous for his unique and innovative style that successfully combines Tango, Jazz and Classical Music. "Cielo Abierto" (Open Sky) incorporates percussive techniques typically seen in Acoustic Fingerstyle music. It was incredible fun to prepare and play this composition! Hope you enjoy it, too!

Stephanie Jones is one of the most talented musicians in the world. She plays to the ear. Many very talented musicians get lost in demonstrating the depths of the musical talents and skill yet fail to make music that is pleasing to the ear. Stephanie's music is very much "musical". She underplays to her ability in an effort to make music sound beautiful. She is a genius.
I think you are referring to "music technicians" Jon.
Those whose musical etchings are NOT "pleasing to the ear" just aren't listened to as much.
Plus, different TYPES of sounds can also "sound" beautiful, depending on the levels OF appreciation of the listener's personal experience. I'd say her abilities lie moreover in her abilities to "Please different genres" of music lovers, in general, while, obviously having her specialties in classical.
I WISH SHE WOULD HIRE A SECRETARY to attend to some of the details of her viewers ; I hope she responds to YOURS.
agree , she is special ( i dont talk about guitar skills ) , she sounds diferent , i cant explain , she is unique , im older than old of you...i heard ( many of them personally ) the best guitarrist of the world , the best ones.....she is special....
She didn't compose this.
Yes. But we are commenting on the performance. @@ericsierra-franco7802
Falling into this it’s like a RUclips’s award to a viewer.
She’s from another dimension.
It took me 60 years to realise I would never be able to play even a shadow of this and now I can sit back and enjoy listening to someone else play without
a hint of regret.
That's the best way to see it... Enjoy! :-)
@Toadywefly After watching this piece (twice!) and just watching the sheer technical prowess she has, I was lamenting to my wife that I would never be as good of a player as this. At 47, I don't have the dexterity I used to like I was in my 20's, and my brain isn't as fast as it used to be (not to mention all of the other commitments in life that I have). To paraphrase another commenter above "I could practice 26 hours a day and still not be half as good as this". It still makes me sad, as I would love to be able to play music like this, and especially share it with others.
@@willyspanish .And the notes one
The beauty of your playing literally made me weep. The obvious devotion and passion you have for your art is helping renew my badly damaged faith in humanity.
humanity and hope for music
Me too, just before I read your comment. And not the first time she has brought tears
Excellent playing.. brilliant sense of rhythm and an amazing technique. Such a relief to know that classical guitar is in pretty safe hand for the foreseeable future and beyond.
Exactly my thoughts!
amen, play on
Yes it is, also check out Marcin, he is an amazing player.
These aren't classical techniques though. (Edit: or at least I don't think they are.)
I've never seen a classical guitar player move their hands that much.
The intonation also isn't as acute as most classical performances.
There are brief moments, so brief its the strum of a single chord, where she's forceful and it reminds me of flamenco, but I see no pulgar, or picado, or anything indicative of flamenco.
Personally though I've never heard of "Latin picking", so maybe it's a tradition all of it's own?
@@gyozanomics think of it as breaking new ground! Or Jazz.

Uh, the drum solo here totally blew me away.
I've seen numerous SJ videos, (and good gawd is she excellent) but I was NOT expecting that.
It's tough enough to be flawless with a phrase, or a rhythm, but to transition like she does without hesitation is truly awe-inspiring.
She breathes guitar.
(I hiccup a little at a time, lol.)
sj , is a breathe of fresh air
I think this video has its speed increased a little (about 1,2X). You can see it more clearly at 3:57, in the movement of the vegetation outside the studio.
Try any of her vids. You can’t fail. Every one is unique. Great arrangements make music entertaining. She has great arrangements. I could fall in love. But I’m an old man. 🧐
Me too! I wasn't expecting that when she went to the back of the guitar. I was smiling from ear to ear!

r u people out there on you tube land actually getting this ! this girls talent. feel, technical precision, dynamics, etc etc, are off the charts! this a once in a lifetime kind of talent, hit share with everyone u know, this girl needs to go viral. share and share,
It's really mature, isn't it? Perfect technique allied with feeling, groove. I'd love to see her live one day!
Can't get enough of your 🎵🎶🎵
Such an incredible musician. Her passion comes from the deepest recesses of her heart. There are really few like her.
I absolutely agree - let me also recommend a French female guitarist; Gaëlle Solal
Didn't know you knew her so well. How deep are the recesses of her heart, may I ask you?

I listened to the entire "Open Sky" album earlier today. which includes this piece.
Stephanie, I absolutely love your energy. I'm blown away
I’m a guitarist and a scientist. I pride myself in being an informed intellectual. My knowledge of classic guitar is by no means exhaustive but I, personally don’t know of a more technically proficient or more emotive player than SJ.
Every time I come back to listen to this it impresses me all over again.
Absolutely perfect. It's very rare, for classical musicians, to groove like this. Bravo!
Love watching her fingers dancing on those frets up and down the entire guitar neck... such a masterpiece... well done!
Astonishing performance...She is a GREAT GUITAR PLAYER...quite UNIQUE...
Quique sinesi should be so proud! Everything you play is so beautiful!! Thank you🙌🙌
Gosh, the percussive part was so sublime.
Great performance, I love it!
She's so beautiful & talented & expressive-I'm blown away. Amazing performance.
For non guitarists you have no idea how difficult this is to play and the years of training and practice it takes. This young lady is very talented.
I can't imagine how difficult this is to play. And she looks so damned relaxed! LOL. Wonderful playing. She is my new favorite classical guitarist!
And on top that, i add ... still a beautifull lady! OMG!
What would you suggest to learn as a beginner? Gotta start somewhere
That's for sure. She plays very well.
Don't need to know how to play - you can easily tell the degree of mastery required to play the instrument at that level. Amazingly talented!
Incredible young musician. What skill and feel. Classical got soul.
Superb playing and video. I think one of the finest young classical guitarists around at present.
Finally a classical guitarist stepping out of the box! And setting new standards for all of us. Thank you Stephanie Jones!

this music have a ton of virtuosity and futuristic feels, amazing
How does she set new standards?
I have NEVER seen a classical guitarist out did much personality into their music, and combined with such virtuosity as well. I hit subscribe before the song was halfway over.
So many styles in this performance,
She’s so beautiful, but more than that, it’s her expressions, and movements, festive, celebrating her love of music, and of course…
How she enjoys playing
Great piece!
Amazing, inspiring, and extraordinary. What a gift! Thank you for sharing.
I can say I never really pictured you doing the mind-boggling tapping stuff that most fingerstyle people on RUclips do, but it is awesome!
you will have to excuse my ignorance but your music is the most beautiful thing a man can hear
soy solo una replica de mi mismo
Simply out of this world. I love the setting, the playing - everything ...
Being a die hard metal head, I think this is the most bad ass playing that I have ever seen!!! Most metal guitar players would kill to be able to play like you!!!
Sad but very true!:)
*badass not bad ass
But true^^
@@bluesigma7122 good observation. That's likely NOT the case (if Ms. Jones has ANY Latin in her:) lol
Any metal fan should listen to Paco de Lucia, it's a real treat dude, I highly recommend it, watch out for 1:32*

Agreed, I wish I'd appreciated this sort of thing more when I was younger
That was tranquilizing...amazing work!
Stephanie Jones is a stunner, a truly brilliant musician! I have listened to many of her YT performances, and there is not a clinker to be heard among them as she continues to nail the most difficult pieces. Always look forward to what she will do next.
Speaks to the soul.
I love her aggressive yet expressive style of play and the songs she picks to interpret are awesome
Wow, for somebody so young to have that depth of talent and feeling......a joy to watch and listen to. Thank you for sharing
I love how you let the music take you. It comes out as your voice and the power and technique in your right hand are stunning.
I love to see how she's having fun doing it
You play so beautifully! Thanks for sharing!!
Uh, so do you; to put it mildly.

Drop dead gorgeous! Both the playing and the player.
You played it so beautifully! It's wonderful to watch and hear argentinian music played all around the world
Wow! What a beautiful diversion for you (and us)!!
Love the venue for this video. And of course, the stunningly talented Stephanie.
So many wonderful techniques and stunning sound and composition. x Just beautiful!
Delighted as argentinian just to listen such a beautiful interpretation of a great aregentinian composer.
By the way, for all guitar lovers, don't you miss "Invierno Porteño" played by Stephanie
Marvelous
Sorry, Ricardo, word is Argentine (English/international) or Argentino (Spanish), not the slavishly-copied GERMAN: "Argenentinian." . . . Learn your own language!
@@TalentedDilittante Argenentinian, is to complicate thinks.
@@TalentedDilittante 1st) I wrote Argentinian, not "Argenentinian". 2nd) Both Argentine and Argentinian are correct in English: "Argentinian - of or relating to or characteristic of Argentina or its people" is the definition from Thesaurus and Cite Dictionary. 3rd) "My own" language is Spanish. 4th) I write my comments in English in order to be understood by an international community and share my feelings and opinions about music. My goodness, that was absolutely breathtaking. Saving this as a fave.
You are already a Legend Stephanie!! You're presence & musicianship/skill is of EPIC proportion.
You’re simply amazing Stephanie! Flawless playing with beauty and grace abundant.
Stunning! Both your playing and your looks! Both are beautiful!
Everything is beautiful: the place, the music, and the musician. Thank you very much Stephanie!
Wish I'd seen this sooner, but wow. Very impressive. I mostly focused on rock/metal guitar most of my life while still dabbling in acoustic. But I've been working on my classical and Latin style guitar since retiring from the touring rock band scene and it's opened up a whole new side of playing for me. Listening to you makes me wish I just focused more on this style. You're a true talent and play beautifully. Your sense of rhythm and flow is perfect, and the percussive fingertapping was an added bonus. Very inspirational. Thank you for sharing.
Percussion part at 3´17´´ is absolutely incredible and fantastic indeed , then for the finale too !!! Great rendition full of creativity and research of optimises sounds and virtuosity ...it sounds great to my ears... bravos
Young Master, compliments.

I love these pictures of you. I'm practicing classical and when I'm beat up enough I watch your videos and love them. Thanks
Hi Stephanie, your interpretation feels so good! You are super talented!
i pretty much never comment on things, don't engage on these sort of forums - that being said:
Precision all too often sacrifices emotion - and emotion, precision. This is truly... breathtaking. I can think of no other word. Flawless execution, and more feeling than I can almost bear. Truly ascendant.
Thanks for this - it literally changed my day.
Well said
👏🏽
Couldn't word it any better, was a fantastic interpretation of the story.
