John, thank you for the video, but it's not working for me at all. I have a Roland TD-9 module and a VH-11. The thing is that the Roland module is sending two midi notes to BFD2. One variable tip and a pedal note at the same time. It's impossible for me to get a tight closed sound this way. Besides that sometimes the 'ringing' of the open hihat sound just goes on, even with the pedal all the way down. Please, is there a solution to this problem? I use the latest build (2.3.0 38). Thanks!
Why is that when I open the drums in the piano roll (Logic), hit the crash note with the mouse, the crash sounds ok. But when i hit playback, that very same cymbal hit sounds like it was tapped lightly instead of being struck. This has really slowed down production and we're thinking of using something else. PS - the velocity is almost maxed out.
I upgraded my version and I seem to not be able to get past 3:20. It doesnt want to keep the locked variable slider window up. If the pedal goes down most of the way or is closed, the slider menu is greyed out and variable artics only... text is displayed. Midi select is checked.
14 years later this video is still useful. Thanks
Great no fluff video explanation! And cool trick at the end. Thanks a lot.
Great tutorial. I have a TD9 with vh11 and the hi-hat really is the trick part to setup. thanx.
