Just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly are you wanting more analogies of how BA & PM roles are different (like this video), or actual examples of IT project work that a BA vs PM would do?

Additionally, I am currently working as a Research & Data Analyst in the field of Marketing (Brands/Campaigns) Analysis. And after 2 years I want to move/grow further... so I am exploring. (Graduated Machine Intelligence and Robotics, so I kinda have the Tech-Backround and Data Knowledge)

I have interest in both the position but i think that i lean slightly towards the BA side. For more introverted and logical person what of the roles you would suggest?

I have an job interview for project management next week, but love performing business analyst functions working with my work center personnel and leadership gathering requirements and designing continuous process improvement automating work flow processes. Do you foresee any overlapping conflict of roles when I set up a project team. If so, how can augment these propensities with my primary role to deliver a project as a project manager?
You are kind of asking me "If these people you don't were put in this situation, will there be conflict". The answer would be it depends on the people. Things that flow well with one team might cause problems for another. The only way I know to prevent it is constant & transparent collaboration amongst your team so everyone understands why they are doing what and everyone is on the same page as things shift. In any case, BAs are typically hired to solve how other people work (how can IT make the sales team/process more productive). As a PM you could solve similar problems internal to your team (how can I make the IT team/process more productive).
@@AngeloTheBA Thank you for your response. As an IT Project Manager, if my project team consists of SME in IT, I could be a sound board to offer them feedback, such as process improvement proposals, to move them closer to meet their deliverable. This way, they will remain the primary process owner.
buisness analyst is the person who takes to clients / buisness gets their needs and delivers them to IT/software team ..so what is difference between business
Some of your comment/question got cut off I think, but if you are asking what is the difference between a business analyst and the business, it is that business analysts responsibility is to actually analyze the business (solution options, impacted process/stakeholders, value, cost, etc) to make sure good decisions are made. Business analysts don't just take orders and then deliver them to the devs.

Is there fluidity between these roles in industry. Can a BA become a PM and visa versa?
Absolutely. These roles often work so closely together that they are very aware of what types of things the others is doing and what it looks like to do the other job well. They are often asked to back fill for each other when people are on vacations, leave the company, etc. I've seen people even jump back and forth based on what's needed at the time or for a project.

The short version is a business process analyst is a business analyst that focuses on projects that are process changes only. Typically projects to improve efficiency. It's a specialty or focus in the umbrella of business analysis. Usually pursue additional training/certifications in BPMN, lean, and six sigma.

This is a good example. In your opinion, which position has the lower stress level?
That's like asking which is more stressful, offense or defense. Offense - If you don't score, your team loses. Defense - If you don't prevent the other team from scoring, your team loses. Which is more stressful? Depends on the person and what they enjoy about the game. Same with BA vs PM, it depends on what you're good at and what you enjoy, both can cause project failure.
@@AngeloTheBA I like that analogy. I guess a follow-up question would be, which route would you take first to make your transition into the industry? I was thinking I would start off being a BA, and then becoming a PM down the line.
@@ericnwachukwu I've seen people start both and switch. It's really up to you. The roles work so closely with each other that it's often easy to switch or depending on the size of the project do both.
Hi Angelo so in essence, a PM works under a BA?
No, these are two different roles and don't necessarily report to each other. You can be on a project with a senior PM and a junior BA and vice versa. PM manages resources and schedules (who & when), BA defines the solution (what). Using the analogy in the video, you can hire an architect to define what your house should have, keep the plans and hire a contractor a year later to find all the resources and people to build it and never have them meet. Or you can hire a contractor and they believe your needs are too complex or might create problems, so they bring an architect to help solve your problems.
