& commercialism... Saw him, in concert, in the, early, 90's, what a privilege. Travelled, to Sydney, for that one, paid, for the ticket, makes it, evenmore special. A ticket, to ride, isn't always, what it's, cracked up to be. 🙏
This was the last song my dear friend sent me before he passed away just days ago. He was the smartest music fan and one of the most talented musicians I’ve ever known. Thank you @HiattHouse for sharing this video so he could share it with me.
In today's environment, this song has a great message along with the great tunes and singing! "...Learn to live with love or without it, but there is no cure..."
This song more or less immediately popped into my head when I heard the news of Charlie Watts today, and I see I've certainly got some company in that regard! Great song, it came out when I was about 10 or 11 and just getting into current rock music. And of course RIP Mr. Watts
Here in Rutland, Vermont I’ve seen him twice at the @Paramount theater! He’s significantly worse without his electric backing band! His acoustic version was decades removed from the with band performance!
Every time I hear this song (which isn't often enough) I have to get up and dance around like a fool (a very happy fool). It's just that good. Love this song & the singer/songwriter/musician.
Down here in Louisiana when we aren't fighting floods, hurricanes, gators and such, we love to dance. Needless to say John Hiatt & Little Feat are big in my neck of the Bayou. Now the Bayou is full of expensive homes, docks, boats & fine lookin' ladies, but I swear we can dance on water when John Hiatt is on.
I hope the flood water is receding and ya'll will be dancing on dry ground again, soon. Little Feat will certainly get my feet moving. Them and Hiatt put out some of the best music.
Erik T Come on Down Brother. We will reserve some table tops or some Bayou Frontage to listen and maybe Dance to some Little Feat, Robert Palmer's Sneaking Sally and Some John Hiatt on the backside.
@@aaronexists4308 shit bro your favorite is usually the one you think is the best. Apologies not required for personal taste. If you haven't heard Straight Outta Time from his Austin City Limits recording do yourself a favor and check it out. Top of his game
+Mistertbones One of my favorite concert memories was a July 4th show in some dark-ass place in Cincinnati w/ John and the Goners (Sonny L). They are amazing together.
a song that SHOULD be shared with the entire world, .......yes, it's been around for quite a few years, yet still relevant. If EVERYONE would just watch this and ENJOY the music.....things might be better. WE CAN ALL "relate" to a damn fine song!!
I LOVE this song. I'd never heard of John Hiatt until he came out with this album back in 1988 (was it?), and this song was played. I immediately knew I had to get the album, and it was one of my favorite at that time in my life. Brings back some good, and some painful, memories. Great song.
I listen to very heavy music, but I have always loved John Hiatt. His lyrics are classic. Excellent song writer. Slow Turning has been a favorite of mine for at least 15 years.
First off, Thanks for posting this hidden classic! Most people don't know this song, but for those of us who are in the know like us here now, we get it!😄 Great, underrated artist! The Force is with us!!! Oh! RIP to Charlie Watts! Saw you in 81 and 89. You are missed!
🎶Banging on the drums alike a Charlie Watts🎶 Immediately thought of this song when I heard the news.😣 "You're going to die,Your'e going to die for sure. Not Fade Away. Not Fade Away *NOT FADE AWAY* !"

I grew up a mile or so from John but didn't 'know' him til he got noticed thru his songwriting and since have seen him several times, most recently in Indy about 2 years ago...great song writer/ musican and human being!
RIP Charlie Watts.....God Bless John for name checking him here.
I Thought of this song as soon as I heard the news of Charlie's passing. He had quite a far reaching impact on musicians around the world.
Mick said that "charlie is the engine, without him this train dont move."
👍
@@theimperialcanis3111 Me too. I just got the Stones reference now with Not Fade Way,as well.
First thing I thought of when I heard.
Charlie Watts RIP...; he's left the parking lot, the building and now slow turning... not fade away, not fade away...
"They're bangin' like Charlie Watts" RIP
John Hiatt is criminally underated. An assload of more well known country / rockabilly / rock "stars" wish they had his genuineness.
Say it loud

Sorry for the 14yr delay for a response, but you are right, seriously underated. What a voice.😊
He made Bonnie Raitt famous
I’ve known about him for years but I’m only just discovering him, and I couldn’t agree more with this statement.
THIS SONG IS A CLASSIC!!!! Heard it the first time in 1987...still love it!
Me too ✋️
Rest in peace, Charlie. A cornerstone of my own life and my music, that was the Stones. One thing for sure Charlie wont fade away.
"I always thought our house was haunted because nobody ever said boo to me." - what a line

Hi Grinning. Your friend had excellent taste in music. I suspect this song will live with you forever. Best.
John Hiatt is so awesome, this song is as good today as it was the day it was written. Time tested
John Hiatt is an excellent songwriter and wish he got more recognition - which he so deserves! Love his music.
That’s an understatement.
One of the best writers, preformers ever. Up there with Dylan, Young in my opinion- PAPER THIN!!- for all you wordsmiths out there...
For sure.
Brother John is a genius songwriter. Vastly underrated. A secret for those who take the time or have the luck to be exposed to his music. Wonderful.
‘Cause nobody said “Boo to me”…
Yelling @ the kids in the back… ‘That crazy laugh’… Not Fade Away, Not Fade Away”…Brilliant lyrics & vid. 🎼 👍🏼
Agreed! Such fun lyrics while jumping on my mini trampoline as a kid.
Every life lesson you will ever need is contained in a John Hiatt lyric.
That’s the truth 👍
OMGawd ain’t that da truth
Damn. Straight.

This tune is bad to the bone, well written, good music, great producing...it has it all; well done John!
I have seen Brother John many a time. What a great guy. He should be much more popular. A true AMERICAN, and a wonderful song-writer.
John Hiatt is a total guarantee of musical quality
Another damn awesome song from his wonderful career and so many fantastic albums

John Hiatt is a LEGEND. His music has made me a better HUMAN
He should be 2000 times as popular as he is
Agree 100%
One of the most underrated musicians of our time
Him and Ry Cooder. Vastly underappreciated
Agreed! But john doesnt give a shit that hes under-rated which makes him even cooler! 😅
One of the best songs ever....and the video always makes me cry with joy. Great job, John, you are legendary!!!
John - you fucking rock
Just another song that brings tears to my eyes for some reason... Maybe its the celebration of simple living..
"They're bangin' like Charlie Watts....
always thought that was a great line and a tribute to an even greater drummer....
rip CW
John was unheard of in my circle till I put him on the jukebox in my bar.
And the smiling begins...
I was lucky enough to hear Hiatt and Shawn Colvin perform this song with two acoustic guitars. The bare-bones version was fantastic!
This is what the world needs right now. One love.
Makes me feel happy_ This is the great power of John Hiatt, his songs turn your bad day into a marvellous one-
Love that gravel voiced drawl combined with the blues guitar. Hiatt is the man.
Every time I hear this song (which isn't often enough) I have to get up and dance around like a fool (a very happy fool). It's just that good. Love this song & the singer/songwriter/musician.
Good tune from a good time...

I was just listening to Lowell George and for some reason, I needed to hear this song as well. Maybe I belong down on the bayou.
Erik T Come on Down Brother. We will reserve some table tops or some Bayou Frontage to listen and maybe Dance to some Little Feat, Robert Palmer's Sneaking Sally and Some John Hiatt on the backside.
John Hiatt is just awesome! Every project he does, whether it’s solo or something like Little Village is incredible! Keep rocking John!!!
Love that teeny Charlie Watts ish fill by the drummer straight after “…banging like Charlie Watts”
Love John Hiatt, clever lyricist and underated musician..
This is his best album
@@aaronexists4308 Stolen Moments is also excellent. Not a filler song to be found.
I apologize. I should have said my favorite (though I haven’t listened to a lot of his enough).

I implied it was objectively the best. Thanks for the recommendation.
John Hiatt is the man!! He got some well deserved noteriety for "Slow Turning", very overdue!!!!
How did I get this old without hearing of this guy before.. Fabulous.
Just bad luck I guess!
Heard this song driving home from my last day of work, sore and hurting. Really brought my spirits up!

JessMacRho the goners ARE the best.
Sonny is a real nice guy in person too. Fantastic to see live
And Ry Cooder on the one before it! Now he's working with Jerry Douglas, and it's better than ever.
"Cause they're bangin' like Charlie Watts".
Charlie Watts's sad passing brought me here! Great song!! RIP and ROCK ON!!!!
