The low is actually what makes it a perfect shoe for me (and others), as i promotes the full use of your calf muscles and thereby also works to help against the achilles problems more and more runners suffers from (and has been a runners problem even from before the 1980's, where every year a new ",revolution" in running shoes began (like shampoo commercials)). Its bio mechanics!
Hey matt, love skechers shoes ive got 250 miles on my razor excess 1s and still going strong.they have been great for parkruns and even done a few 10k races in them extremely light!love turning up to races and im tje only one wearing skechers lol(most in vaporflys)very underated shoes in my opinion hyperburst is fantastic!great review matt!👍
I 100% agree Skechers shoes are underrated and these are the fastest feeling pair (of Skechers) I’ve worn so far. I’m really liking them. I can’t wait for the Speed Beast to drop early next year! They’re going to be a solid race day shoe and look absolutely 🔥!
I have Skechers Razor Excess 1 as well and like it as a low drop lightweight training shoe in my rotation. I mainly use it for track workouts. Razor Excess 2 gained 2 oz weight with the new upper and lost some of the nimbleness. I think this Razor 4 w/ Hyperburst Pro foam is the successor to both Razor 3 and Razor Excess 2. I don't think there will be Excess 3.
Personally I would take this over the Speed 2 because I like how it rides and the softness better than the Speed 2. I don’t particularly care for firm shoes at longer distances, and the speed 2 was too firm for my taste. With that said, the Speed 2 was wildly popular and a lot of people wish Saucony would make something like it again.
Thanks for the review Matt. Yes, love the Skechers price points. Continuing to enjoy my Ride 10's. Saw a preview of the Max Road 6. Skechers is doing well. Does this shoe have the same purpose as the NB Rebel 3?
Hey Matt...thanks for another great review. Is the Razor 4 a neutral shoe or is it a stability shoe? I ask because on the Roadrunner Sports site, when I select neutral the Razor 4 disappears. When I deselect neutral, it reappears. Thanks
This new Razor 4 is probably going to replace both Razor 3 and Razor Excess 2. I like the direction the Razor line is evolving. They are introducing a better foam and better outsole instead of just islands 🇬🇧
I think you're right! This has been my favorite Skechers shoe so far, at least as far as a shoe made for picking up the pace. I'm glad to see the "island" outsole disappear!
Thank you for the review . In terms of the responsiveness of the midsole what comparisons can you make? Is it firmer than the saucony endorphin pro 2? Also, the midsole stack, does that include the insole?
The Hyperburst Pro is an excellent foam and quite responsive, however the H-plate does not offer the same responsiveness as shoes with a full length plate. With that said, this shoe feels comfortable AND quick. The Hyperburst Pro is much softer than the Endo Pro 2 but not as soft as the Endo Pro 3. The stack height does include the insole.
Nice video, thank you. I'm getting this shoe at a huge discount here in India, should I go for it ? Is it still a good shoe in 2024 or should i consider for some other shoes? Kindly recommend 😊
I had the razor excess 1 and the goodyear outsole is one of the poorest compared to my other shoes especially to my vaporfly at that same distance. How's does this compared.
They fit of both feels very similar to me but when I look from the top at both next to each other the Excess does seem slightly wider (however that could be due to the different colours of my shoes)
I’m in the middle of trying to transition to Altras and need a 4mm forgiving daily cushioned trainer that can do some miles. Was wondering if this is it (not ran in sketchers before) but it sounds a bit firm. I like the idea of a wider platform and my feet have started to splay so don’t want to shove them into a narrow toe box. Any ideas ? I’ve got a half coming up in 6 weeks and won’t be ready to run in Altras and my Kinvara’s are too firm for that distance - I’m a bit stumped !
@@amandaball7116 I'd say this Razor 4 is on the faster end of daily trainers. It could certainly be used as one as, for me at least, it's cushioned enough but I use it mainly for faster efforts. I would not call this shoe wide. It has enough room for my feet, but I also run in Altras and it doesn't compare with an Altra toebox.
@@amandaball7116 It's a bit tough to find a shoe that isn't too firm that also doesn't have a high stack height. I was firt thinking the Skechers Max Road 5 could work, but I think that's a 6mm drop. Most Hokas are 5mm...I'll give it some thought...
I’m loving my Razor Excess 2. I hope I get the same enjoyment from the Razor 4 when I pick them up. Great video Matt, keep up the good work!
Cheers, Joe! I love my Razor Excess 2, but the Razor 4 is even better! In other shoe-news, I simply cannot wait for the Speed Beast!

There are definite benefits to running in a low drop shoe, and this is better than most for me!
Muchas gracias desde España.Matt !! También tengo Puma Deviate nitro 2 y Sckechers go run razor 4 !!
Gracias por ver. ¡Ambas son excelentes zapatillas para correr! 👟👟🤩

I found this and endorphin speed 2 with a discount. I have half marathon race coming up. Which you would recommend for the race between this two?

Glad to hear your Ride 10s are still working for you! Mine are too! Yes, I would liken the Razor 4 to the Rebel!
Favorite Sketchers shoe GO Run Max Road 6 🇬🇧
The MR4 is definitely a solid shoe, but I’m going with this Razor 4 as my all time favorite Skechers! 👊🏽

This is still a great shoe in 2024. If you can grab it for a good price, definitely go for it!

I didn’t run in v1 of the Excess, but I haven’t noticed anything negative about the outsole wear on a y of a hr other Skechers shoes I’ve used.
Drop that Union Jack 🏴 thanks to sketchers for keeping the prices fair
Skechers keeps the dream alive that running shoes can be priced well!
5:24 if you run like that in marathon, you will win. That was super sonic fast like Dragon Ball goku speed.
🤣 If only I could figure out how to run like that in real life and not just on camera! 😆
🤣🤣 you could win a world record haha @@its_Matt_B_
anyway si it a really good shoes?daily trainer right@@its_Matt_B_
if this shoes have carbon plate?
It has their carbon infused H-plate, but it doesn't feel like a plated shoe at all.
I've seen reports that the razor 4 is more narrower than the excess. Can you comment

Is this good for slight overpronation?
It could work depending on how slight your overpronation is. It is not a stability shoe, but, a stability shoe isn't always necessary!
Is this shoe made for flat feet?
No, not specifically!

Oh yeah!! Thank you! 👊🏽

Cheers, Adrian! Are you a Skechers fan?
Yes I am, I love there midsole quality but the shoes upper need help.
@@adrainawls Yep, I’m with you! I’m hoping for some upper changes in their ‘23 lineup!
