Found a pair of these in my size at Burlington for $20. Realized what a bargain this was so I decided to start a running journey two months ago and I must say I am very thankful for that day as I have found a shoe that makes running so freakin enjoyable. I went from running zero miles a day to at least 5k now daily. This has truly revitalized my interest in health and I am truly grateful for this shoe.
One of the best shoes I've ever run in. Never had a shoe as bouncy as this one, and my legs feel great at the end of every run, pushing me to go further. It took a bit to adjust to the stack but in motion, these shoes work so well for me.
@@TWfatfish I had to return the regular Prime-X cuz I had to alter my gait so much to stay on top of the foam that my hip was sore after only a few miles! Make this thing with some guide rails or cradle the foam up around the upper a little and it would work for a LOT more people. And, make it less rigid and wider outsole and it would be a great trainer.
I've done over 100 miles in mine with no problems( apart from I had to put heel pads in them as they were banging my heels), you need strong ankles but if that's not a problem for you these are a fast shoe🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
This is my absolutely favorite super shoe for the long runs. Its so bouncy and fun to run into this. I ran marathon it this as an non elite it was no problem
I’m still early in my running journey, but this has jumped to the top as one of the best shoes I’ve ever ran in. Energy return, protection of my legs, grip from the outsole, and most impressive is the durability despite being a super shoe. Heavier than some others, but I don’t feel that weight is unwarranted or wasted on the shoe. It all serves a purpose. I suppose the only improvement I’d want are the laces as they aren’t bad but just feel fairly boring.
Love the shoe and have both the strung and normal versions. Like some of the testers i get bad heel rub with the strung version when going past 8 miles. Not had any heel rub issues with the non-strung upper version and have used that one many times up to 20+ miles. Heel rub only occurs on my left heel and that foot is a half size smaller than my right so maybe going a half size down on my next pair of Prime X Strungs is what i'll try. These shoes are without doubt one of the hardest wearing super shoes i've owned - currently have 200 miles in the originals and showing little to no wear something that can't be said for Nike's offerings after same miles!
Some shoes just work better for you for whatever reasons and the Prime X Strung just clicks all the boxes for me. To me, it's super comfortable, propulsive, fast, versatile, protective, fun, and exciting. I look forward to every long run with it twice per week. I never found stability to be an issue although I do need to keep an eye on the road for potholes and other obstacles more than with other shoes. It's my favorite shoe by far although I probably wouldn't run a full marathon with it due to the weight.
I agree, I have seen many of your posts on reddit etc. Iknow for a fact you own 4 pairs. I bought the prime x for the "cheap" price of 180$ having raced in this shoe and took it out on some very enjoyable runs it is probably the best money spent on a running shoe and my collection is very large. I agree that is can feel sluggish when the run stretches out to long. But damn, when you feel like your legs are tired and your not feeling 100% ready for another run, slipp these on and after a few steps you feel fresh as ever good to go!
@@TheAnders7le I have six pairs now - including the new Non Dyed colorway! Haha. I'm a PXS nut. Couldn't resist getting one more original Off White colorway at 50% off back in December and then this all-white came out and I just had to get it. I'm rotating them evenly and have well over 100 miles in each of the Off Whites and nearly 40 on the Non Dyed after three long runs in it. Will take it out on another 13-mile run very soon and I'm already excited. The balance between the bounciness and the responsiveness of this shoe is uncanny. And, yes, the way it keeps the feet and legs feeling fresh during and after long runs is unmatched by any other shoe I've tried.
@@alexkhan2000 i'm curious, which size did you go for in your last two pairs? I am TTS in mine. They are roomy but I like that. I also find them stable and can get a good lokdown.
@@TheAnders7le I went half-size down from my TTS (8 US), so 7.5. I have TTS pairs as well but it's a little too roomy so I wear one very thin pair of socks underneath my normal pair and that provides a good comfy fit. Even half-size down, the forefoot/toe-box area still feels roomy.
Agreed. Get some thing to adapt yourself with something less tall than the PrimeX if you are a new runner. I can speak for myself , I got my first tall shoe last year : Adidas Adizero Boston 11, and it took me a while to run with it in uneven terrain. Now I'm totally adapted to it and also got an Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 that is also a high stack shoes. Maybe next year, I will give it a try with an even taller shoe like the PrimeX v3. Great review.
@R251400 those sites have different purposes , but they could make a good combo for someone looking for high stack running shoes. I overpronate, but I got to say that the Boston 11 is a bit more stable where my left heel don't collapse . That happens if I try to run too fast with my Gel-Nimbus 25, even using the last lace loop to get a better lockdown. Still, both are fantastic shoes, and I don't regret having them. But in the end of the day I'm not sure if I'm a huge fun of those 40mm plus stack shoes. I was happier with Adidas Adizero Adios 6 + Gel-Nimbus 24 ....
@@MiracleWarriors I've got the Adidas Adizero Adios 7; they do feel like a more older style running shoe on foot and it's lightweight for racing but very uncomfortable in comparison to these higher stack shoes. Also, I found that they are not not as quick as the higher stack models making them a poor choice for racing. I should have spent a little more & bought the Boston 11 or even the SL.
I've had the Prime X strung for 6 months or so and it's great. Did also get some heel rub for a while and taped up for a few runs but has now gone away. Compared to the alphafly 2 the Prime X strung is more enjoyable and use it much more often as it has a more natural feel. Alphafly is more squish and bounce compared to roll and pop. Also had airpod fail on alphafly 2 so not as confident in the Nike build quality. For me stability is the only issue with Prime X strung but at faster paces its ok.
I appreciate the effort that particularly Kieran has put in, the distance, the range of running types, he's done such a thorough job, however it seems to risky of a shoe for me.
Just picked up a pair quite cheap for running my first marathon. I’m hoping this will give me the cushioning I need around the course (which is long and flat)
The Prime X Strung is a wonderful shoe. Just don't go around sharp bends/corners! I hope that the V2 has a slightly lower stack but also wider heal for stability.
There is a shoe called Adios pro 3 with lower stack 😂 i feel many shoes loose there initial magic from user feedback about stability. In many instances it firms upp and widens to create lateral stability. The fun factor disapears when people can't handle the ride i.e. Novablast 1, Endo speed 1. I hope this shoe does not loose that
Can you guys get the New Balance Propel v4 please. Considering the question, should our daily trainers have plates, even if they are TPU and not the stiffer and more expensive carbon. Is it harmful to train all the time or most of the time with a plate?
I have the original Prime X, had 160 miles in it, no problem. But I just completely rolled my ankle with it 10 days ago. My left ankle is still tender. I will restrict the shoe to treadmill only from now on.
If I'm looking for a shoe that's optimal to clock my PB (with Sprints done intermittently) for 2.4km to 3km runs, is this shoe worth the money? Or is there any other supershoe out there for shorter to mid runs?
This shoe is awesome but I would only suggest it as a tempo trainer, at least that is how I use it. Better off with a vaporfly for PB efforts at virtually any distance.
The shoe is only illegal for record purposes and/or if you are a pro runner. Fortunately, I don't think anyone in the forum falls in to that category ... except maybe for a few folks. But then again, who cares.
Stack height does NOT equate to cushioning. I'm not sure why Adidas decided to produce this shoe; they could have used a softer LightstrikePro formula with a 30-35mm stack and have a more cushioned shoe. Still incorporating the rods, a needless plate for marketing, and also lower the weight. But in the end, it's about profit, and people are clamoring over the high stack shoes, carbon plates, and the lure of "illegal" shoe is strong.
@@1234EggNogg yeah, I tried it. V1 too narrow outsole heel with no support in the upper to keep my foot from going off the side (supinator), caused hip pain in about a mile, I had to send them back. Haven't tried the Strung yet. BUT, you're right, it was a novel sensation running on this one. I have superblast and SC Trainer, so I'm not averse to high stack, I'm just saying that the stack height alone does not equate to "cushioning", otherwise the platform boots that KISS wears should be highly cushioned, right?😁 Proper use of materials can make a shoe that is highly cushioned AND propulsive with less than 30mm of stack. Come to think of it, when I had very bad PF several years ago, I ran in Skechers Shape Ups just so I could get in a few miles in the months waiting to heal up. Running in the Prime-X was a lot like that, but at half the weight of course.
I don't think I would categorize this one as a carbon "racer" per say though. The positioning from adidas themselves is clear. It serves the same function as SC Trainer and the Superblast that is as a companion to the existing actual carbon racer that the company produced (Adios Pro, SC Racer, Metaspeed). There's a market for a super max cushioned shoe to aid with recovery due to the reduced pounding and more protection from the extra foam in the midsole.
Interesting rationale about using the shoe to race in. Just because you can get away with it, should you even consider racing in the shoe? After all, unless you are elite you can get away with using EPO or Testosterone (or any other PED) because there is no way you will ever get tested. One hears stories (mainly from the US) about people taking all sorts of stuff to win their local 5 miler. or set a record at their local Park Run. Moral dilemma!
you make an interesting point, below elite the reasons to race change so much. I've been on the podium at a few races but race to test myself, I've also lost out to people who 'bend' the rules. I'm fine with it as was happy with my own performance on the day. Maybe those who try to gain any edge have other stuff going on in their lives which means they need to push the boundaries. To each their own but it's not one for me. Of course if anyone is going for a GFA time for a marathon major I can see this and PEDs as more of an issue.
@@richardantrobus7186 I agree with what you've said because at the end of the day, you have to be happy with your own performance against your own past performances and I like to compare like for like so if I have a PB in a certain shoe I know I've improved if I PB in the same shoe. Sure you can go a heap faster in a shoe like this but I don't feel satisfied because I feel like I've actually 'cheated' myself if you know what I mean. Ok to use every now and then to mix things up but not something I'd reach for as a first choice for race day or fast tempo runs.
I think these shoes should be used sparingly for easy runs if you're a seasoned runner. Cause all that plushness aren't doing your feet/legs any favors in terms of making your muscles stronger and more resilient to injuries.
