I hate that Pierre wouldn't let him talk freely. He wanted to shape it to look bad so he could be on the defense. Every time he tried to talk, Pierre would say, "I will ask you that later." Well, if that's something that you guys will talk about, then why does he have to wait for you to shape the question? Pierre black people like me have seen the arms stuff on I Love Lucy. I guess Fat stole it, but Pierre made DC seem like a hating a** place because this comedian was confident and kept to himself. The host seems so MESSY.
He said something that was really profound. It is our responsibility to make sure that black businesses (that store, pharmacy, restaurant) don’t close. In this day and age, where we pay for convenience, it can be real inconvenient to go out of our way to buy black. But it’s our duty to do so.
Real talk and I always wondered about him to and as soon as I saw ted carpenter on my thumbnail on here I knew this interview was going to be good since I know Pierre is going to cook.
A certain level of humility is involved. He doesn't have it. He doesn't know how to tone it down around white folk. They're already scared of us and jealous. He doesn't have the sense to figure it out clearly. That's why he waiting on another grown man to figure it out for him. Having the talent but not the ethics means squat! He reminds me of P on baby boy. When you gone find me a job type nigga.
He is just as authentic in person. I recently met him at the gym not realizing who he is. He gave very respectful regards to my mom when she called while Ted and I were talking about bike riding and catching the train back when you're too tired to ride home. He's a good humble man with character and integrity.
Pierre I'm thankful that you bring out those Great Comics from your Era that never got Big as their talent so it's always good to see where they are now! Thank You!
I agree, now that he cleared all those rumors, yes give him a part 2 he seems like he has a lot of great stories to tell. Talent is another comedian that probably has a lot to say.
Awesome show! Been rocking with yall for 30 plus years and love to see everyone that is still in this game of life and even bigger and better!!!👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Glad to finally hear what happened to him. Def Jam was the vehicle that made a ton of stars. He was one of the 3 funniest, imo, and i always wondered why he never got his turn. Just saw him a couple months ago at a comedy club. Maybe 20 people there (bad promo on the clubs part), but he still killed it like it was at an arena.
@@johncapo2843 i recorded the episodes every week, so I've seen em a bunch of times. I seem to remember him saying that the joke wasn't his, and it was an old one.
Great interview❣️ I'm glad that Pierre was able to clear up the rumors that he heard. Clearing rumors is positive as many people will believe anything, even the ones who should know your character.. I'm like Teddy, I don't care that you are talking about me just make sure you tell the truth when you tell the story.🦋
....why is it so hard for us to stand with each other? I pray that the closed doors open, prosperity hugs him, and he is taken care of financially, spiritually protected, and treasured.
Man Teddy was a bad boy! I remember those Def Comedy Jam Days and he was so strong nobody could front on him. He cleared the path for out of towners at Def Comedy Jam and let cats know it was about the talent not being from New York! I appreciate you Teddy and give you your Flowers Homie! Miss You King!
I am so glad that they brought up that triple threat of comedy show Bernie Mac DL Huguely and Teddy Carpenter from 1993 saw it at the Fox theater in St. Louis…. anyone could see from miles away the Teddy Carpenter and Bernie Mac were destined to be stars…. extremely glad that Teddy Carpenter is on the show tonight being interviewed he is ONE OF THE BEST
What Teddy said is so true. I was a great cheer leader. But No one told me about the politics side of it. I thought well I have the skills. But they sent a pretty popular white girl to tell me and I didn't respond the right way and lost out. Being part of that squad would've changed my life trajectory.
I saw Teddy Carpenter as he was opening for the Whispers in Houston, TX in the 80's. I never heard of him prior to the Whispers show. He was hilarious. I wanted to hear more of him but was never able to find him. Thank you, Teddy, for coming back to the limelight. You are my favorite Comic.
Teddy is one of the greatest comics. I knew he got blackballed. A real brother, that believed in himself. This brother had the walls moving. Keep on grinding. You were a real king of comedy.
@TeddyCarpenter I've always appreciated your comedy even tho I only saw you on Def Jam back then. I was an early teen yet I related cuz you had a certain grit... hood! I wondered what happened to you and hearing your story, it makes sense to me now: people love the Muscle but they don't respect you enough to share the Money! They regard the Muscle as expendable while believing they can buy more muscle with their money. Most people don't understand, the muscle who has your back before you get the bag, the muscle is doing it out of love and not the money! You're blessed regardless and I hope you continue to move forward in life and effect change in the lives of other young brothers like myself💪🏾
