Thank you for doing this classic film. I have 2 versions on Blu Ray on one disc one version is the director's cut with the score by Jerry Goldsmith and the other is the theatrical cut with the score of Tangerine Dream both versions are amazing.
I have been trying to find a version with Tangerine Dream and cannot seem to get it. I've got a couple of dvds and a blu ray and they're all Goldsmith (which is great, but for Legend -- I did not enjoy it).
Tangerine Dream is one of the most underrated acts of all time. Their music has spanned almost 7 decades, over 300+ different recordings, and they have influenced 1000's in music and film including being one of the grandfathers of electronic music. One of the greatest acts of all time... that will never be in the HoF, and will never get any of the love they so greatly deserve.
Legend is one of my fav movies ever. It's literally an rpg game brought to life. It's got a hero that needs to save a literal princess, who levels up ,fights mini bosses, gets upgraded armor, has magic, and battles in an literal dungeon.... BAD ASS!!! And TOTALLY not a BAD movie. If u don't like legend u need to get woke, Son. One of the best movies of the 80s.
Princess: "I do nothing for your pleasure.", when she realizes she's on the verge of being separated from her soul through seduction of her love of beautiful "things". A classic tale of Good vs. Evil.
Pazuzu isn't just from The Exorcist. He's one of The Old Gods. In ancient Mesopotamian religion, Pazuzu was the king of the demons of the wind, brother of Humbaba and son of the god Hanbi. He also represented the southwestern wind, the bearer of storms and drought. One of the main reasons hollywood screenwriters are hooked on him is because they can use the line "older than recorded history" and technically still have it be true, the invention of the written word wouldn't be around for a few more centuries and he was so frightening he would scare off all other demons.
Actually Pazuzu’s backstory hurts the Exorcist for me...I thought he was the Biblical Satan or some other judeochristian demonic entity...the Mesopotamian origins are kinda lame for me
@@ajackofdiamonds Are you speaking of the entranceway of the Bradbury Hotel at the end (where J.F. Sebastian is squatting)? I wonder what ever happened to those pillars, and if someone thought of actually using them for their home patio or something. And for those saying "retcon" for BLADE RUNNER in regards to the unicorn scenes from LEGEND.. well, Gaff left a unicorn origami figure _in the theatrical cut of BLADE RUNNER_ , so it's not exactly "retconning" if Ridley is simply emphasizing something that was already hinted at.
The 1 with Tangerine Dream was the Theatrical version aka US version, the Director's cut has the with Jerry Goldsmith's music, Ridley changed the score because he got a few snickers in the audience and felt that they had been too " sweet " so he hired Tangerine Dream, I have the dual disc version with both and that's what Ridley had said
I think Pazuzu's statue represents the eerie unknown Father of Darkness, that he is calling from the fire and seems to be either the Void or the Night (though the last one seems to be "the Mother" of Darkness), who is never seen on screen but is heard twice, answering Darkness question suggesting turning Lily into her dark inner side, so she could be worthy as his son's bride. Maybe that's what actually Pazuzu's meant there, as something quite more threathening than Darkness himself, luring somehow behind what could have be seen on screen!
So glad to hear that Darkness' look was to be sexy and scary simultaneously. Been pretty weird all these years being sexually attracted to a two horned, red, hooven Prince cof Darkness!

He played the Doctor's creator Lewis Zimmerman in an episode of DS9 as well. Although I think his use of "Deep Space Voyager" was a deliberate and obvious troll.
Perhaps "Minty" cared little or knew less about Star Trek. For the record, Picardo played a physician in both ST: Voyager (1995-2001) and China Beach (1988-1991). And, yes, there is a separate "Deep Space Nine" series, in which he made one appearance.

Thank you for doing this classic film. I have 2 versions on Blu Ray on one disc one version is the director's cut with the score by Jerry Goldsmith and the other is the theatrical cut with the score of Tangerine Dream both versions are amazing.
Tangerine Dream way better well imo
@@3DzineR I enjoyed the score in both versions.
I have been trying to find a version with Tangerine Dream and cannot seem to get it. I've got a couple of dvds and a blu ray and they're all Goldsmith (which is great, but for Legend -- I did not enjoy it).
Tangerine Dream score really suited this film I have seen both versions and have to say I prefer Tangerine Dream score then Jerry goldsmith's
The level of expressiveness that Curry managed to exude through all that make-up and prosthetics is nothing short of amazing.
Yeah it's no wonder that the Japanese guy ripped it off to create most of Ocarina of Time...
Speciality. God.in love with you , Tim
Must've seen it a hundred times as a kid, saved on DVR now.
The game Diablos it a recreation of this movie. Just no princes or unicorn.
like Legend of Zelda - Link fighting Gannon LOL
Tim Curry and Robert Picardo in the same film!! You can't ask for more awesome cast! Thank you Minty for bringing my favorite movie to the masses!
GREAT film! 👏Amazing visuals on the big screen!!! 😍
I love this film!!! So beautiful!!!!
Princess: "I do nothing for your pleasure.", when she realizes she's on the verge of being separated from her soul through seduction of her love of beautiful "things".
A classic tale of Good vs. Evil.
Every time i hear Minty say Darkness i think of Rick James saying "Darkness...Darkness is spreading" from the Chappelle Show.
😄 Lmao. "Brothers darkness" 😁
@@brandonwachter2264 Fuck your couch, nigga! Fuck your couch!

Greatest screen Satan/Devil/Lucifer ever!! Tim Curry was also great in Clue.
I love Clue it's great! Cracks me up!
Clue is a classic!
Plus Pazuzu is just fun to say.
Actually Pazuzu’s backstory hurts the Exorcist for me...I thought he was the Biblical Satan or some other judeochristian demonic entity...the Mesopotamian origins are kinda lame for me
Pazuzuuu! Oh Farnsworth, but really it is an interesting story
@@angrytheclown801 After Exorcist 2 it wasn't. They say it like 500 times.
Even my grandma knows that...
I am a big fan of "The Neverending Story"!
So glad you could cover this film. Truly a jem that few and far between know about. One of the first movies I ever saw growing up in the early 80's
This movie is amazingly underrated.
Obviously a Garden of Eden 2.0
Another fact about legend is unused footage with the unicorn was used in the later cuts of blade runner.
What a mistake.
@@badlaamaurukehu I'm kind of indifferent to the unicorn thing.
If you look at the pillars lining the awning of the hotel in Blade Runner you will notice some very familiar looking pillars as well.
I feel like this is what a ride in ridley scott's car must be like ruclips.net/video/rhYJd0X6Oqc/видео.html
Wish they had more movies like this
There were a handful of 80s movies with that "dream-like" atmosphere like Excalibur, but part of the magic is in their rarity.
A one of a kind fantasy film. So loved the scenes with Darkness. Such an amazing voice.
I love the version that has the tangerine dream soundtrack. The story of the other one doesn't feel nearly as cohesive.
The 1 with Tangerine Dream was the Theatrical version aka US version, the Director's cut has the with Jerry Goldsmith's music, Ridley changed the score because he got a few snickers in the audience and felt that they had been too " sweet " so he hired Tangerine Dream, I have the dual disc version with both and that's what Ridley had said
@@chrismeyers5963- Too sweet? I thought the Goldsmith soundtrack made the film darker.
Totally agree, the alternate soundtrack doesn't seem to fit the feel of the film
The Jerry Goldsmith score doesn't hold a candle to Tangerine Dream's.
This Movie gives me "Labyrinth" Vibes.🔮
i love love love loooooooove legend. as a little girl, i thought it was true magic
It totally was!! I wore out the VHS tape I had of it.. (which wasn't so magical) 😶
YES!!!! ME, TOO. I'm a grown woman and still love this movie.
I always liked Legend and Tim Curry’s character.
The best scenes were, to me, these two.
1. Lily’s dance with the gown
2. Oona’s speech to Jack about fairies.
Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer in Ladyhawke. Please please please
ALX Howl just finally bought this on DVD to replace my VHS, one of my favorites
YES!!!! Totally agree! 80's fantasies still rock!
What are you trying to say? What do you want? He does 10 thing videos not movie reviews...
ALX Howl yes! Loved that movie!
Great idea!!
How to punish you for that wrongness if you’re LOOKING FORWARD to getting spanked🤔🤔
Yes!!! My thoughts exactly! He's dark. But, draws you in... You can't help but be attracted.
That’s the MAGIK OF THE DEVIL.
@@sonofyah_chosen1950 fun fsct it acthuly took Tim curry 10 hours to get thr mudkip for dsrknes on him and he frequently drank beer while doing it
Tim Curry is freaking terrifying in this movie!! Legend is one of my favorite fantasy movies.
I loved it when I was a kid and love it still. One of Tim Currys best rolls.
This movie is so dream-like. It's stunning. It's like a good dream turning into a nightmare. I love it.
this film is one of my alltime favorites. i grew up with films like this and their unique style i s amazing. i so happy to call a version of the directors cut my own, so i can watch it again and again if i want to. and tim curry as darknes is simply amazing. one of his best roles ever
There's a director's cut?? Gotta have it!!
Oh yeh...... one of my very most favoritest movies thank you minty
I love this movie!!!! One of my favorites from my childhood!!! Dark, scary, fun, and adventurous! I also love the old Disney films as well!
Mine too! For some reason it reminds me of the time period when songs like “Don’t Speak”, “Everything I Do” and “I Would Do Anything for Love” came out.. maybe because the music videos have similar lighting.. good times.
I went to see Legend in 1986. I loved it. I have seen two of the cuts. I enjoyed both for different reasons.
I still quote from time to time "Mother night... fold your dark arms about me."
Thanks for doing this video.
Robert Picardo didn't play in Star Trek: "Deep Space Voyager" He played the doctor in Star trek: Voyager. sigh.
He played the Doctor's creator Lewis Zimmerman in an episode of DS9 as well. Although I think his use of "Deep Space Voyager" was a deliberate and obvious troll.
I literally stopped the video when he said this and came looking for this comment. Thank you.
I also came looking for this comment. Trekkies unite!
Yes! This!
Perhaps "Minty" cared little or knew less about Star Trek. For the record, Picardo played a physician in both ST: Voyager (1995-2001) and China Beach (1988-1991). And, yes, there is a separate "Deep Space Nine" series, in which he made one appearance.
One of my all time favorites. This era was the pinnacle of set design, puppetry, character design and overall artistic expression through film.
3:14 . .. not to mention Dragonslayer ( 1981 )! Oh, and thank you for NOT PISSING ON Tangerine Dream ( like OTHER reviewers of this flick have been known to do ). I liked Risky Business a HELL of a lot more than fricking Top Gun! . .. and so did MOST OTHER people that I knew. Never got the box office popularity of THAT one.
One of my favorite movies of all time. Still holds up today!
I'm going to tell you....RIGHT....NOW.
As of 2020, I *STILL* watch this movie whenever it comes on cable, I was a lover of fantasy & science fiction THEN and love it NOW. Legend, Labyrinth, & Ladyhawke [the 3 L's], The Company of Wolves and Neverending Story... those are my childhood and they told a STORY, the way stories are told in books.
I, honestly, miss watching movies where sets *were built* and everything wasn't dependent on CGI and constant green screen!
Blix: *waving the unicorn horn around the fire* "Higher, higher, burning Fire! Making music like a choir LOL"
Pig: "Blix, Blix!..BLIX!!

11. The character of link in the legend of zelda games was inspired by tom cruises character from the movie legend
I was wondering if I was the only one who made that connection....
@@holymoley825 no, it was a bit of trivia in hot pop video of legend. in fact the whole movie inspired it.
look up the zelda series and you see the same themes
it could be argued legend is a zelda movie.
That's exactly what I was thinking too. I bet Shigeru Miyamoto saw this movie at some point in the mid or late 80's and got some inspirational ideas from it.
Thats crazy that two of Nintendos major franchises are inspired by ridly scot's movies. The other one being meteoroid which was inspired by alien.
@@JeremySmith-ve2ur that never occured to me about metroid lol. But yeah. Just a shame mario is based on someone else. Ridley scott also directed that well known hovis advert of the boy going up the hill on his bike
One thing I do know is Devil Tim Curry scarred the shit out of 7 year old me when I saw this in the theater.
Me aswell.
I saw this in the theater with my best friend. Tim Curry's devil is the stuff of nightmares... perfect!
This is one of my all-time favourite movies. A friend of mine rented it in 1987, and we NEVER returned it. It's been in my movie library for many years.
....AND I have to say, this is ONE movie, I may have preferred Depp ;) I adore this movie, particularly the cut with Tangerine Dream. It's the perfect Darkness, Unicorn and Princess I've ever seen...and yet to see!
