I bought your plans and took on the mission of building the 16' X 32'. We not able to find help, so I built it all my self. I now only have the trusses to make, sheet and shingle the roof as well as add the wood paneling on the sides. Then, I am done. It has been an adventure.
Thank you very much for doing the design work and build tips for us. I started designing one and hit on the jig idea on my own. Then I saw your video and realized you already had better ideas!
That depends on where you put the loft floor joists. There is about 7ft 6 inches from the floor to the bottom of the trusses, and the truss height above the top plate is 1/2 of the shed width. If you put the loft on top of the top plate you will loose the headroom in the trusses. But if you put the loft below the top plate then you will lose the headroom below. But this should not be an issue because that still leaves plenty of headroom in the lower part.
How would this work for a load bearing roof? I want to build a 20 X 40 hay barn.. I will be using a hay track and carrier at the top center of the roof. The hay will weigh around up to 400lbs.
I have never built barn trusses over 14ft wide so I have no first hand experience if they will hold the weight or be suitable for a 20ft wide shed. The safest way to construct a shed with these requirements would be to buy manufactured trusses that are built for the width and weight you want.
I bought your plans a long time ago, nothing was put together right .I don't have a G&H plans or specifications? I'm building a 10x20That can't be any higher than 12 ft.I think you last messaged me to cut down the walls to make that 12 ft height. The plans are a little bit sketchy but I will figure it out Thank you. So is G&H for a 10 ft wide shed 3 ft 10 at 22 and 1/2°???
This video and the plans I bought from you are a little light on instructions for framing the end trusses. Nothing I can't overcome since I've done this before, but it would definitely help a newbie.
Hey there was a good way to put in for people to understand I used to build Heartland industry yard sheds all over the states jewelry similar way the little gusset plates that you make if you attach on there I recommend doing that glowing them at the same time yet installing them within the hour that way there once it sets it never top move crack or anything like that very good design I did it for about 20 years and I'm very limited in two big enough places to be homes for retiring couples be cool be safe first time I check that your videos look good
he gave you the angles....lie out the size of your roof walls and lay some 2x4's at 22.5* and ya should find it pretty easy...... test fit it and copy it
he wants more traffic on his web site. Bummer he didn't show that info on video. have to get Table 2, page 67 from his web site for "H" measurements. I would consider this to be an incomplete video, thumbs down.
tcseacliff That depends on if you are building to code. If you build a 16 ft wide garage you should be OK strength wise. But not if you are building to code because these trusses aren't certified by an engineer. They just work based on experience, since most sheds don't have to follow code.
Dimension "H" is in the last column of Table 2, page 67 of my shed plans. Follow the first column down till you come to the size of your shed, then follow the row to the right and you will find it there.
Table 2 is on page 71 of my Tall Barn Style Shed Plans. The table is called "Dimensions that vary with the length and width of the shed." This is where you will find all the measurements for the sheds that correspond to the building figures and diagrams.

Bought these plans a few years ago and very happy with my shed!
I've seen a lot of videos on youtube but this one is by far the best. Thanks!
I wish I had seen this video before I built my shed. My shed has been in sad shape for two years and I am just now rebuilding it.
Thank you
You made it look easy, I will give it a go
I am adding on to a 10’x10’ shed and need to know the angles for a gable roof (22.5?). Thanks for your reply.
thank you! Needed some ideas on the trusses
this video was well done and Extremely helpful............... tanks soooooo much :)
Love this video man thank you!
Using this method to build trusses, what will be the head room for storage, after putting down two by fours and decking.
That depends on where you put the loft floor joists. There is about 7ft 6 inches from the floor to the bottom of the trusses, and the truss height above the top plate is 1/2 of the shed width. Thanks for such a great website, comprehensive, and informative!!!!!!
So simple! Thank you!

Thanks for the feed back. I will add a little more detail on this step when I edit my plans for the next version.
@@CheapShedsDotCom have you edited these plans yet?
Absolutely fantastic video. I tip my hat to you. Thank you

I'm going with 2x6 instead of 2x4s. Are there any adjustments I need to make?
Can this type of barn roof be use on a 26' camper ?
Please respond ..
Can your plans be submitted directly to the city for approval (in this case, Boise, Idaho)? I'm sure this varies, but generally is that the case?

Whats G tho?
@@Tyrel_G the width of the shed.
It's really such a simple roof, with its head clearance you could make your walls quite short.
I understand using 1/2 "G" but how do you find the distance of "H"?
he wants more traffic on his web site. Bummer he didn't show that info on video. have to get Table 2, page 67 from his web site for "H" measurements. I would consider this to be an incomplete video, thumbs down.
It all depends on the width of your sheshed you're building.
H is the width of ur shed
H is half g
very nice instruction.
You forgot to mention how much caulking you need and you do not put it on the takeoff.
What size is "H" ?
can you use the same techniques to build a garage instead of a shed ?
tcseacliff That depends on if you are building to code. If you build a 16 ft wide garage you should be OK strength wise. But not if you are building to code because these trusses aren't certified by an engineer. They just work based on experience, since most sheds don't have to follow code.
what would you do , building them ,wise to be engineer certified? or is it just for the paper?the look good to me!
Nice!

Where is table #2 for dimensions G and H?
Table 2 is on page 71 and 72 of your Tall Gambrel Barn Shed Plans. Dimensions G and H are in the right most column.
Awesome!
does your plans include a detailed supply list?
Yes they do include materials lists for each size shed.
If G = 12 then what is H?
6
Links are dead 01.25
I build my stud walls first .
Then I build my trusses on the wall. No bending over.
lol nice...
what is G and h you don't give out what size
These videos are to supplement my shed plans. Dimensions G and H are given in Table 2 of the shed plans.
G is the width of the shed, H is 😉
I think I missed table #2
he didn't show how to get 'H' measurement on video, bummer, so you have to go to his web site to get to Table 2, page 67.
where is table 2 ?

Gambrel roof
so a birds mouth is not necessary?
The roof sheeting meets the sidewall siding if you do not build with overhang so in this case they are not necessary because there is no gap to cover.

Hey Phil why can't I ever contact you or why don't you ever get back to me??
I've wrote you like three emails, is this some kind of scam?
You didn't say we're to cut the trusses. "/ "
