    A great tutorial Sir, basically it's just a full size working drawing snapped out on the floor. I understood it all except I can't figure out where you got the 4-1/2" measurement at the wall plate. I must watch it again to see if I can figure it out, 👍🔨🇮🇪

    I like the video, but I have to point out in the first two examples the lines were drawn to the wrong corner point in the lower-right corner after you made a big deal about putting an arrow there to make sure we use the correct point. It was around 2:32 and 2:40. It was corrected by the time we got to 3:00.

    If I want to make a 36' wide gambrel roof, what are my options for floor joists without needing a center support? Would "I" shaped osb joists be the least expensive?

    • @gregvancom
      @gregvancom  3 года назад

      Maybe the joist in this video or similar joist made out of metal.
      ruclips.net/video/zvPQd95UHH8/видео.html I would install a beam in the middle to cut floor span in half to really save money if you can.

    With this design couldn't you extend the rafter out past the walls to be able to add In a soffit?

    Everyone of the three points must fit inside a semi circle, you can move them within the circle

    Plus when your laying out the roof you can not exceed 24' in width

    • @khandam7709
      @khandam7709 3 года назад

      why not? I've seen 36' wide gambrel trusses. I guess if you just wnat to stick with 24' long material your point is valid, but one can easily get longer materials.
