    When you use two keys to get the factory code to display, put one in the little slot in the center console key ring up, buttons facing the trunk. Push the start button but don't push the brake to actually start engine. Wait a few seconds, push the start stop button again to turn power off. Replace the first key with the 2nd key in the little slot facing the same direction and push start again (not pushing the brake) the same as the first time. Wait a few seconds and the factory code will appear on the display to the left of speedometer. It is a lot easier than getting up under the dash so long as you have 2 keys. Thanks for the end where you mentioned pushing the button without actually starting the engine...That's what I was doing wrong to begin with.

      Christi Thompson I just got a certified used 2017 SE Hybrid, and I've tried this two key method. I even removed the key bades, and no code ever shows. It just sits on the alert of 'full accessory power active'. 🤔

      Thanks! The "little slot" meaning, between the two cup holders. The key wedges in there just right per your instructions.

      @@Nickthecarguy Mine didn't. Looking back at the carfax, mine is a reposession, so I got 1 keyfob with a blank backup key. And they weren't giving me a second. @@mikedd87 It's probably worth getting another one made anyways in case the key is ever permanently lost or destroyed. Really, it ought to be legally required for the dealership to include a spare fob if they're going to charge so much to replace the only key that works.
      There's supposed to be a copy with a card in manual, but if you didn't get a manual, then it wouldn't be there either.

      I have a 2014 Fusion Hybrid and I believe that the code sticker was placed during assembly of the fuse box. So Ford definitely didn't want to have it easy to find because they prefer that the Ford dealer get some income finding it for you. Think that you saved some money looking for it yourself, just as if you changed the wheels yourself instead of a tire shop or a dealer. BTW, I am also six feet tall but flexible enough to take a picture of the code sticker.

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade Месяц назад

      @@Nickthecarguy Yes, a borescope or endoscope is worth it, if the alternative is screwing up the fuse box or paying the dealer. I couldn't get my scope in properly, but I was able to clearly read 3 of the digits, immediately guess one and only have 3 of the 10 digits to choose from for the 5th digit. Not ideal, but worth it considering the alternative was actually loosing bolts to get a better view.
      I did find that I had to move my fob a good distance from the car in order to actually verify that the code I was using was correct.

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade Месяц назад

      @@raymondramirez9177 Possibly, although if you have 2 keys you can use them to get the car to tell you what the code is and it's supposed to be included on a card that comes with the manual as well. This is something that those of us that bought used cars have to do, or those with careless spouses.
