Thank you for being transparent and honest about the biz. Lots of charlatains out there talking how easy things are in business on social media. Good on ya'.
It's a tough business. I was a charter broker in my first job out of college. It was exciting at first, but I ended up never interacting with the cool clients I was booking flights for, the money was inconsistent at best, quality of life wasn't great, and I dealt with some very shady people.
Thank you for sharing the video. I always wondered about it. You are correct on the lowest price thing and theres also so many people gouging throughout the last year. I was getting a trip quoted in december out of las vegas and was wanting to fly on a hawker. Local operators were quoting 60-68k. I found a charter company out of LA that did it for 49k. This tells me a couple things. 1 the local companies are trying to get waaayyy more profit on the same product or the charter company operates on a more fair margin. It blew my mind that a private jet could be repositioned and do the same trip for for over 25% less than the highest quote I received. The tides are definitely shifting now to where theres way more supply than demand. Quotes now are plummeting in comparison to last year because of the recession becoming more and more REAL. Lastly since I operate an online business and experience the chargeback thing quite frequently I was like man if you got a chargeback for 100k ONCE that would wreck your entire year of work.
Keep grinding Ryan, I’m rooting for you. Soon you’ll find a proper business model. You just have to keep trying. You act even if it fails and that’s what makes you stand out amongst others. Keep the good work!
Thank you for showing your experience in the industry. I am sorry thst you tried the career in that part of the industry but at least you still are a cool corporate jet pilot!! I continue to see how people feeling about the corporate jet industry. I know that Iwould not want to pay a corporate jet but I continue to hear that people are chartering corporate jet to to get the experience as to how it feels how to fly in a private jet. Yes, I don't mind paying First Class or Business. So, the step up is there to the corporate jets for me. But only to charter!!😊
Very nice video I am located in Miami Florida I own a Cessna 414a and I fly to the Bahamas I have a lot of clients but yes it's very hard to make money in aviation my cost of operation is not as expensive as a King Air 200 or a light cj2 citation jet a lot of people think they can make a lot of money in aviation but it's a very hard industry my friend
Thanks for doing this video. I had a business and selling someone else's retail products is extremely difficult. Often the margins as you have discussed are low and the competition is high. It takes all your time and a ton of money to even get started and businesses can be super difficult to scale.
Dear Ryan, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to apologize in advance if my comments come across as political or controversial. I recently watched your video and wanted to better understand your perspective, but unfortunately, I don't agree with many of the points you made. Firstly, I wanted to ask if you are a member of the NBAA? Secondly, have you considered hiring an agency to help with your private jet charter business instead of relying solely on Google ads? Thirdly, I do agree with your point about last-minute flights, but have you considered implementing a 10-day timeframe where customers cannot book flights less than 10 days in advance? This will allow you to have enough time to wait for wire transfers to come through and also offer a cancellation policy. You could charge customers a 4% processing fee for cancellations. Although I admire your videos and find you to be an inspiration, I have to disagree with your approach to running a private jet business. You don't need to spend a lot of money on websites or Google ads; instead, you can create a LinkedIn company page and attend NBAA events to network for empty leg flights. I also suggest dropping your brokerage commission price from 10% to 5% and marketing that you can price match any broker. Additionally, I recommend using software like retrunjet.com, which costs only $50 a month and gives you access to all operators. Additionally, for payment processing, I suggest looking into BitPay Cryptocurrency, which can be a secure and fast option for your business. You can also consider using PayPal Business or a credit card company like Worldpay. It's important to offer multiple payment options to your customers for their convenience. I strongly suggest lowering your brokerage commission from 10% to 5% to attract more customers. Also, consider implementing a policy where customers cannot book a flight less than 10 days before their travel date. This will give you enough time to receive the wire transfer, and in case the money is delayed, you can charge a cancellation fee when the payment finally comes through. In addition, take advantage of social media and create a business account to promote your private jet business. Don't be intimidated by big companies; there are many effective marketing strategies you can use, such as advertising on LinkedIn and attending NBAA events. I hope you find these suggestions helpful, and please let me know if you have any questions.
I appreciate your comment and your different perspective on this topic. Is there anyway, I can pick your brain offline as you mentioned Ryan to let you know if he has any questions?😅
Naomi Dean stands out from other brokers because of her realistic approach, unlike those who often set unattainable targets and fail to deliver. She's truly unique!
I'll be honest, I was a little bit reluctant at first to listen to your Spiel bro.. I figured you were just another weed eater. What I mean by that is, someone just trying to weed out the competition. After listening to your entire video I want to thank you for pointing out these financially detrimental downfalls of the private jet charter business. I was about to take the plunge. I researched it and researched it and all I kept coming up with was a bunch of so-called successful agents offering their jet charter courses for astronomical amounts of money, anywhere from $800 to $3,000. I wasn't going to go that route and I was going to try to get a job with a brokerage but none of them responded to my enquiries and resume. Thank you for putting it out there and I hope anyone that is thinking about starting this type of business heed your warning. What do you think about aircraft sales brokering?. Thank you again for the well-put-together based on real life experience.
I occasionally fly private. Most sites seem spammy and are just a money grab. It was discouraging at first trying to find flights; atleast until I started going direct to the charter company and cut out the middle man.
Great informative video Ryan. Im considering being an affiliate for Villiers (or other jet rental service) ; after watching this video i am reconsidering
10:52 true, but it's up to you to have a minimum booking date, simple. So someone contact you last minute, simply "no can do" and you move on because it is a risk to you.
Loved your video, so iv been running a very successful roofing business in London, and like you know, using paid adds to grow and get leads is very very hard, so if I was using Google adds to get the work in for my roofing company I can be honest I would not make any money, but after having 6 business and 5 not working, it's been hard but like you know, it's all learning, and my wife would say omg another crap business, but I'm still very very interested in this and the resin is, I'm number 1 a shit speller but I'm amazing at seo, so I'm really interested but am concerned about the payment terms that's something I'm going to look into, thank you very much for your vid really enjoyed it, I will let you know how I get on thank you
Going back to paying for leads if you do it right, you can get loads of leads for free, like I was saying I'm great at the seo and have not payed a penny for 7 years in advertising thank u again
Hey Ryan, I’m currently in the process of deciding how I want to go about becoming a pilot, I was considering ATP flight school but after everything I’ve heard and been reading on the internet I’m not quite sure if it’s my best option, I’m currently in the military and have access to a lot of benefits but not quite sure how I should use them, I’m honestly just looking for the cheapest most efficient way of becoming and airline pilot, I’ve taken a few lessons and chi aerospace in New Hampshire and not sure if I should continue there or Pursue going to a college with a flight program, is there anything that you might suggest in my current situation?
Really helpful video for the guys spending money to learn this business and then wait to loose later time and money both. As you are already doing real estate, so why don't you go for aircraft sales (aircraft broker not charter)? Also cargo charter is little better.
Aircraft sales: similar experience to brokering charter flights. Unless you are direct with the buyer or seller you won't get a deal. Also, factor in you have to be very knowledgeable about the industry to be able to really add any value to the deal. There are TOO MANY amateurs out there that up until recently were youth ministers, car sales people, just attended a 'Selling High ticket item" seminar that are putting themselves out there are private jet brokers. Today with websites like avbuyer and controller it is so easy for a buyer just to hop on there and find the jet they want and pick the phone uo. What really is needed is an aviation advisor, that can help these people to navigate the whole process of sourcing, buying and setting-up flight operations of their new jet. This requires a seasoned aviation pro.
Hi, thank you for your honesty. But who bears the costs for the catering, the private driver or the balloons for example? Are you paying for it or this is the customer?
I see it differently, is there a proper apps like skyscanner that connects all the private jet operator? I'm from Asia, specifically South East Asia. I noticed that there's almost 0 charter broker ads here. Only a few of the VVIPs & Government Agencies own it. Empty legs are none, no local supports, nothing.
Glad you loved my editing! Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity. Few days back your manager probably reached me out and wanted to get this video edited. Would love to hear some feedback from you of what you think of the edit of this video. And would love to connect with you directly sometime! Cheers!
Why didn't you go with an organic marketing strategy? If you paid a somewhat popular celebrity or influencer to promote you it would work much better. I would target winners in the ecom space or younger millionaires under 25-30 years old and build relationships with them. The only problem would be quality control, maybe it can be fixed by building a very tight relationship with a single operator.
Theres not many e-commerce millionaire’s especially “young”. Just like Ryan says he revenued $500k but his profit margins were cut throat. Same goes with the e-commerce space. You are competing with the same Chinese manufacturers who can afford super slim margins. A multi million dollar e-commerce business is really nothing in this billion dollar market. These young entrepreneurs you see on youtube are mostly* a bunch of scammers. Not all, but mostly
I've been doing my research because i have to travel alot from miami to other states for trader events and give speeches. I'm a crypto trader and what some would say a "megladon" in the market lol. Thanks so much for this. Was thinking about getting into this business and didn't have enough information.
Thanks for the feedback! It’s been useful!
Thanks for being honest!!!!! I was thinking about doing this business, but nevermind after listening to you.
Very honest and real evaluation. I have had a very similar experience.
Excellent excellent video, Ryan. It’s awesome to share your experience and shows the quality of your character to share even a bad experience.
Nice content. To me, trading the forex and crypto market is way better than any online investment 💯
I'm interested in investing, but I'm not sure where to start. Do you have any advice or contacts who can help me out?
Investing can be complex, so it's smart to get professional guidance when building your financial portfolio.
It's a great idea to have a conversation with financial advisors like Naomi Dean to reshape your portfolio.
That's awesome! I ended up making a net profit of about $115k by investing in high dividend yield stocks, ETFs, and equity.
Naomi Dean stands out from other brokers because of her realistic approach, unlike those who often set unattainable targets and fail to deliver. She's truly unique!

Tons of wholesaling real estate experience here as well Ryan! Had a random thought of tapping into this. What about wholesaling private jets?
Thank you for the video. It's very informative and honest.
Right On the Money! No Shade, been through the same thing. Very accurate.
Thank you for sharing your experience, can you please make video on lease a private jet business
I occasionally fly private. Most sites seem spammy and are just a money grab. It was discouraging at first trying to find flights; atleast until I started going direct to the charter company and cut out the middle man.

Nicely Done! Gary Burdsall, President, Able Jets
How about commercial freight. I move high value freight and looking for cutting costs
Super interesting to hear about your experience, and I appreciate the transparency. Blue skies (y)

Good information. But how about if you have your own jet ? Is this still not a profitable ?
It is going to be good. keep gowing

You Are Unstopteble . D'ont forget.
I guess "quitting aviation" went by the wayside when the real estate outlook went to shit?
Lmfao 😂😂😂
Remarketing is much cheaper after you land them I wonder how frequently they would fly?
thank you bro. I need to watch this.

If you are processing the payments from the customers then you can negotiate much better deals with operators

Margin is actually less than 10% due to CC merchant fess.

What happened to the real estate wholesale biz amd where can we learn more about that??
Thanks a lot for sharing
Sounds like you’re better off becoming your own part 135 charter flying company?
Thanks for sharing.
Great business school case study!
Any reference to whether owning and chartering is worth it?
Great video. Better lesson!
Nice
Google AdWords from 2007 has entered the chat lol. Things would’ve been easier with very low cost per click back then. What kind of business are you doing now instead?
Shouldn't you charge a lady minute fee for last minute clients?
Great video
How do you order your fly private shirt and hoody?
Maybe try brokering the sale
Awesome vid dude!
Thank you
Thanks Ryan. Who are you flying jets for now? I recall you were based in Europe before on very long rotations. Do you now work for a US operator?
Yes I do! Based in Miami
How do I get one of those cool shirts??
Great video!
Back to private pilot?
Flying a G650 and doing real estate
I know this has an unlikely chance of getting to you but I am studying aviation, and I would like to contact you about some questions I have.
With all due respect, anyone with half a brain could have readily foreseen the pitfalls inherent in a "private jet charter brokerage" business model.
