- Starting Sertraline can be scary, the internet is full of terrible reviews but what side effects are you likely to face, and how difficult will it be? I take 50mg of Sertraline daily and it has changed my life. Taking antidepressants has given me the headspace to find happiness rather than wait for the SSRI to make me happy.

The side effects were challenging at first because I was at my lowest, and suddenly getting hit by nausea or an upset stomach wasn't something I really wanted but for me, I knew the jounrey would be worth it.
I made this video to share the reality of the common side effects of Sertraline because it can be scary when you start and feel like the only person who has had to go through this process.
My own experience with Sertraline really began in January 2020. I had taken prior to that but because I know better than someone who has spent years qualifying as a GP, I decided to stop taking Zoloft and manage it on my own. What an idiot. So January 2020 I managed to get to my GP and ask for a prescription. This started a journey that I wouldn't change, despite the challenges.

Thank you for sharing this! I started Sertraline 3 days ago and it has made me feel SO so sick, which of course does not help with the anxiety. :) Hearing about other people having the same experience really helps put my mind at ease a bit knowing that I'm not imagining it, I'm not alone in feeling it, and it is only temporary.

My doctor said don’t look at the side effects but makes sense I look and now I think about them all the time out of curiosity not worry lol it’s just so weird and now I’ve been youtubeing side effects for a while xD

Im 5 weeks in with insomnia that lasted 2 nights plus indigestion, nausea upset stomach. Sometimes I panic after waking up but last night i was able to get some sleep plus more relaxed this morning. Im starting to improve. I think i just need to be patient even though it is very difficult at times. Reading all tne comments on here gives me the reassurance that im not alone in this fight ❤. As a man, experiences pre-orgasm when you’re urinating, is this a pro or con side effects?
On week two on 50mg Sertraline- I’ve definitely experienced an increase in anxiety symptoms, though not quite as out of control feeling as a full-on panic attack. It’s different from day to day, but typically about an hour after I take my pill in the morning I get hit with a wave of anxiety that lasts for a few hours, sort of feels like I’ve had too much coffee, like my body is slightly vibrating. Fight or flight. Slow breathing and deep exhales helps. It also helps to know that it’s just a passing side affect, and not a medical emergency. I switch to 100mg per day next week, so hopefully the side affects don’t totally sideline me. Nausea has not been a huge problem.
Just took my first side effect pill(milpharm) thanks for this video your a good one I always read instructions the 1-100 tumour don't sound good 😐 the nausea I had last time I took it stopped it never gave ssri a chance, I was heroin crack addict for 12 years aspergers hope i feel ok I have fatigue and insomnia already I hope i dont suffer these effects so many contraindiction like anorexia and weightgain,
I am taking for health anxietys constant chest pains that I hope it doesn't exaggerate,
I am complex character and hope it has a benefit for me.

Thank you! I’ve had this headache, nausea, very fatigued, and can’t get out of bed for the past week. Week 5 on Sertraline and I hope these side effects go away in another week.
I got put on Sertraline and I got really bad restless legs but felt the positive symptoms almost straight away. I was switched to Citalopram which I didn't feel were working for me, I got low again so put myself back on Sertraline and I feel amazing again. My doctor says it's unlikely as it "can" take 4-6 weeks to start working BUT I've read that 1 in 10 can feel the effects immediately, I'm clearly one of those people.
Have you had any weight gain on sertraline? I began mine 2 weeks ago and the side effect many complain about is weight gain. I workout 4 to 5 times a week and would like to lose 10lbs not gain. So this one for me is worrisome. Thanks for all the videos they've been helpful in making me decide whether or not to start taking it
depends; if you are already overweight then most likely you will lose weight. I have normal weight, and in first weeks I only lost weight
Luckily I am not having a lot of side effects as with Escitalopram (Lexapro) which I had to stop because it was unbearable. But I am still in day 4 of taking Zoloft (Sertraline) so I hope it will not get worse. So far I have had a little diarrhea on the first day, sore throat which is the most annoying so far and fatigue. I really hope fatigue goes away because I want to sleep all day and luckily I can (no insomnia for me). I will update the symptoms hoping it helps someone to know what to expect when taking Zoloft, even though effects differ.
I am on day 4 and the side effects just seem to be getting worse. Headache, nausea, insomnia.... I just hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Its not that I can't sleep its that i don't want to its like my mind is finally happy and wants to be awake experiencing that all the time I take a morning dose only for 2 weeks now and I went from the worst place in the world to not happy but content with living finally x

I don’t agree with a lot of what you say although I am extremely happy for you that you are doing ok. I understand your approach but it’s not fair on those etching to not know the true long term effects. I’ve been on this drug since 1997 and I’m still felling the side effects bud. I wish you well

Anxiety has started bad on day 8 it's horrible . I'm taking it for this don't can't handle it , I gave up before because of this. How long does it go on I'm struggling to continue . The feeling comes up from my stomach and I know I'm going to have that panic.😢

My fatigue is soooo intense. Scares me a lot because of COVID. Really hoping it passes soon. My anxiety is through the roof because I don’t know if I have COVID or if it is zoloft side effects and anxiety.
Stop following the MSM and all the BS about Covid (Scamdemic) I haven’t watched, read or listened to it since June 2020, and your anxiety will disappear…..guaranteed!👍🏻😀,
I started sertraline at the same time I got covid so it was hard to tell what caused what. However I do feel better from an anxiety pov but there have been side effects and some random bouts of anxiety but not as bad as before

Took my first tablet last night and what a horrible night I had. Felt sick straight away, stomach kills, could not sleep, sharp pains in my head and dizziness. I hope this works 🙏🏼 coz feels like hell
I started 5 days ago with 25mg and I can only sleep 2/3 hours each night. I feel tired but can not sleep, I take it in the morning. After a few days I have to take 50mg instead of 25mg. What do I have to do because the not sleeping makes me feel very bad. Will this side effect go away?
All my side effects have pretty much gone now. Maybe try taking them at night???
feeling exactly the same. I started on zoloft about a week ago first 3 days everything was under control only i was feeling a pain in my stomach &dry mouth. but 2 days ago i started to feel pain in my head and dizziness im not able to do anything. i feel horrible and afraid.

I've been on 25mg for 10days now , I've had tiredness, mild headache, nausea and bad heartburn. It's all beginning to settle compared to the first few days , thankfully. I have concerns about upping my dose to 50mg as I'm reluctant to go through all of that again .Any advice there?

I’ve got to get some sleep. I am exhausted. This is hell. Nausea, dry mouth. Headaches, overwhelming sadness. Inability to concentrate on work. If I didn’t have 4 kids I’d stay in bed 24/7.

Hellow i am on day 14, first week was really depressed but after 1 week all the positiveness comes up and i was happy that i am getting better but from last 3 to 4 days i am feeling saad or down and i had that feeling in first week that what if i gone made and go for sucide, althougt i was scared of that feeling eaven think about socide thoughts i eaven get scared of socidal thoughts is that normal and i am on 50mg today is 14th day thanks

Hey it’s my fourth day on sertraline and I had a question although I’m sure it’s been asked a hundred times. It’s completely normal to feel deepening depression and malaise the first week right? I had a really rough end to my day 3 due to the insomnia and after finally getting a few hrs of sleep I still feel pretty spaced out today. Almost like I’m just in someone else’s mind and just on autopilot. I haven’t felt this down since the first time I self harmed :/ I guess I’m just looking for assurance to stick out the next couple weeks and see where I’m at then. I just hate having the feeling that I’m making myself worse and this will not get better after a 2 weeks :(
I am in week 4. Week 2 and 3 were tough. Now on 100 mg for 2 weeks. Feeling better. Not 100%, but on the way. It's tough, but it gets better

Made me very tired and I kept falling asleep. Also had Diarrhoea but only for a day or so and then again for a day when the dose was increased. Think I feel a bit calmer though..

Im taking escitalopram for 2 and a half month now. For my depression and anxiety and my question is, is it normal that i still feel very tired and i had to push myself to do a single thing. My fingers and muscles in my body are constantly shaking it isn't noticable for others but i feel it everyday.
One pill destroyed me. Got Akathisia with huge panic and anxiety. Intense head pain and suicidal thoughts. Not fully recovered from it and this was 9 months ago. Be very careful trying these.
What did u do too get better?
2nd day on sertraline, I only get 5hr sleep for 2 day. And feel so hyper, followed by random shivering and blurry vision. Nauseous is always there

How are things today? Anxiety can soar in the first week so this sounds normal (unfortunately). It will settle again but if it is unbearable speak with your GP. If it is an emergency and you are worried about staying safe, visit the hospital or call your emergency number.
@@AHappyChange my anxiety was non existence yesterday starting noon and didn’t come in the rest of the day but this morning I woke up feeling dreadful, almost kind of like panic attack. I thought the med finally started working yesterday but I guess not yet.
Take magnesium Glycinate also it does a great wonderful mineral.
My sertraline experience: took it for about 3 years. The worst side effect that never went away the whole time taking it was bruxism. Constantly clenching my jaw till I chipped teeth and cracked fillings. Otherwise, with some of the more common side effects when the dosage was increased, this was the best for me.
It more than a couple of weeks it's been seven weeks and I'm at my wit's end so bad with anxiety , sweating , muscle aches spasms all night last night was awful.
How are you feeling now? Im on day 4 and having swets alll day, hot flushes, stinging all over my body x
@@skye371 I'm still tapering off I'm down to 10 mg and still having hot cold sweats anxiety . I nearly switched to Prozac because I had no problems with that years ago but want to get off it altogether if I can but I regret the day I started. I should have gave.up when I had the side effects for so long but people said it gets better . I just don't want this stuff in my body
my only side effec the first couple of weeks was aggressive farting. very bearable side effect. the worst side effects i had in the first year generally were headaches.
Does anyone know what to do about the heartburn/burning sensation in chest? Nothing I take is helping it go away. This started on day 10 of sertraline for me. Any advice would be much appreciated!
I’m on week 10 at 25 mg and man! The side effects are weird. I am now dealing with disassociation/ derealization. My vision is all weird and I’m dizzy a lot.
Plus I’m tired all day long.

I'm on day 3 of using Sertraline and I have 🐝 feeling very sick, and I went dizzy walking up stairs. Is this any good for Ptsd,,? Is 50mg a large doesr,?

Just to reassure people thinking of taking Sertraline. I had no side effects at all, other than pain in my kegs below my knees down to my ankles at the front and I have been on them now for about 2 months.
I'm diagnosed with chronic depression (dysthymia)
The first couple of days I felt much much better, they were the best days in my last 10 years. I felt so confident to socialize, calm and enjoyed things, I had orgasm like never before!
That's weird since I know that sertraline should start working after at least 2 weeks, I dunno maybe it was just placebo.
After those days, my depression came back again with fatigue and I felt sleepier than usual. I also had very low libido. That's it, no other side effects.
I'm heading to week 3, I hope I feel better soon.

@@unhingedunicorn423 yes! After +8 months I started to feel much better, now I work, motivated, I have better control over my thoughts, I don't feel miserable, I can overcome bad things, I can socialize better, boosted self-confidence.
I'm not telling you it's magic, I still have bad moments, stress, dark thoughts etc. But they're much lesser and more controllable than before.

I had extreme loss of appetite, could barely drink water. Also experienced globus sensation. Along with the digestive side effects. 10 days in.

Hi Alex or anyone out there. I have been on celexa for 10 years and recently had some panic attacks like I’ve never experienced. My doctor decided to switch me to Zoloft which was really a challenge for me so I got off everything and am now staring back my celexa after one week of nothing. The side effects are really bad. I am only working up to 10mg but started at 5 then 7.5 and hopefully 10
Here soon. The nausea, tingling and fatigue are bad. I’m just surprised that something I’ve taken for so long is a challenge to reintroduce after only a few weeks off. I want to just stick with my old medication and get to 10mg but should I give this more time? Any thoughts?

Had no side effects really ….and till a year ago never took any allopathic medications ! I never really slept ….so started taking tripelene at night to relieve my extreme pain due to fybromygalgia a year ago ….never felt better ….and take 50 mg a day , take it after breakfast and tripelene 25 mg at 7.30 pm

Took it for one day and had serotonin syndrome 🤦🏻♂️ wasn’t allowed to take it again
Made me feel like i was peeing fire after 4 days.
I felt a little lightheaded and a headache the first 2 days of taking 25mg. When I moved to 50mg, there were no side effects. Sexual side effects are there, but it all still works 😆.
I’m on day 4 of Zoloft. Headaches, feeling foggy, nausea, not sleeping, not hungry, holy cow it sucks! I know I’ll get over this soon

These meds have the opposite effects in some ppl. Listen to your gut. The "it'll wear off you just gotta stick with it" does not apply to everybody. If it's been a few weeks and you feel worse you should most likely discontinue use. Honestly, if I could go back I wouldn't have taken the first one.
Yep - there are plenty of other channels that talk from that angle and would never say these fix everyone. Hope you are doing good.

I am for the last 8 months on Zoloft All of side effects appeared.There is no positive effects for me .
My son recently took this, but first he took 10 mg.of lexapro and had horrible side effects from it. He couldn't sleep, he couldn't eat, he was twitching ..he had excessive yawning, excessive sweating he was nauseous, no appetite for a week, no sleep for a week, dark circles under his eye, eye pain,, severe migraine, fast heart beat so the doctor told him to stop the lexopro and put him on 50 mgs of zoloft..the zoloft made him worse than the lexapro He ended up having chills, fever, tingling, pains all over his body besides all the lexapro side effects. He stopped the zoloft in one day. He wants nothing to do with it. It made him feel worse than why he took it in the first place.
Sorry to hear about your son. How is he doing now?
Knowing about these side effects for an anxious person can make the side effects feel far worse. Its best to just take the tablet and don't read or watch anything about the side effects, because if you do you will keep delaying taking it, give up on it after few days or not take it at all. My advice would be never take the tablet on an empty stomach and drink lots of water throughout the day until the side effects have gone.
I have recently started experiencing flu like symptoms. I had this on ciatralopram aswell. Anyone else experience this?
What else happened? Did you get bloated?

Started my first 25mg pill today! after being on 12.5 for 2 weeks.. I feel so sick now, I have bad heartburn! and nausea.. also so tired and feel out of it.. did anyone throw up? if so is it normal? Also I was given ativan for emergency panic attacks!

No throwing up I’m on 25 too just bad diarrhea a little nausea… I had some panic today but I know that this is one of the symptoms only on day 2

Be careful with bruising. It affects the liver.
I'm 8 days in so far. The nausea and diareah are dreadful. My anxiety has gone through the roof and i feel more depressed than ever.

Alex I'm taking sertraline 50mg for 3.5 weeks now and they are more bad days then good ones. Do you think few more weeks and I should get better?
Kratos! Ideally things should be settling down now but it can take a while for some people. I'd speak with your GP and discuss the dosage. It could be that you are having a longer series of side effects or it could be that your dosage needs adjusting. Things do improve!
