I am a lebanese Australian from the south of lebanon and want to offer my deepest condolences to our Irish brothers and sisters. This is not a hezbollah killing . This is a cowardly attack.

I agree. The supposed killer is not guilty. They offered anyone to ensure, no reprisals. Thank you for your condolences.

Reality of decades of proud service by the Irish army as UN peacekeepers is casualties of brave soldiers but when it happens in avoidable circumstances it's doubly tragic for those left behind. An awful thing. The love and grief in Ireland for these families is palpable.

Such a young 24 year old, should never have been placed in this dangerous situation.
The government & the army, now have a responsibility, to account for this tragedy.

This was not an offensive soldier , Óglaigh na hÉireann are not and never we're an offensive force. They're on peace keeping missions with the UN trying to prevent and resolve conflicts. Ar dheis lámh Dé go raibh a anam dílis. Comhbhrón ó chroí le clann agus cairde Seán.

Danielle is absolutely right. The whole Ireland is in mourning because one of her brave caring soldier lost his life fighting the fight Lebanese should be fighting themselves. May his soul rest in peace and our condolences to the family of Rooney and the entire village of Newtown in Donegal. We need to respect his selfless international service to restore our troubled world 🌎.
