I respect Terminator Salvation for doing something different. Not a great film but a decent film.
It was the best terminator film i ever saw and i grew up with t1 and t2, when salvation came out on dvd i watched it 3 times that day

It was once ranked the lowest in the terminator movies but then Genysis and Dark Fate came out.
I loved this surprising scene. It was one of those things where you wanted Arnold's T-800 to show up, but then felt the movie was doing fine without him. Then when he does appear AND the way it's done... Wow! It's was pulled off quite well and convincingly. It was great to see his T-800 as a villain. Personally I would've loved to see this story carried on further instead of what we did get. In my eyes, this is the best follow-up after T2. It approached the Terminator saga from a different and fresh angle in terms of narrative and style. It brought back some of the grit that the other sequels were lacking. This was also McG's best film for me. I was used to the stuff he did with the Charlie's Angels films he did. But then he came back with Terminator: Salvation which showed he could be serious.
I dont know about the theatre where you saw it but the theatre I saw it at..the crowd went wild at this scene...NYC

I tend to agree with, "Out of Spite Production."
Terminator Salvation gets better just by comparison every time they try making another Terminator sequel lol setting it in this post-Apocalyptic future was a genius idea, even if it didn't look exactly how James Cameron portrayed it in the original. It looked more realistic, and the scenes of the future in the original film looked like a dream, or a hyper-realistic version that you'd see in your head as it was being described to you by someone who'd been there.
I loved that they used Anton Yelchin as a young Kyle Reece, and the new giant, "Harvester-Terminator" the, "Moto-Terminators," the flying, "Terminator-Scout" drones, and especially the, "Aqua-Terminator", along with the amazing, practical-looking Hunter/Killer, were all awesome additions to the lore.
And then there was Marcus, which took me totally by surprise when it was revealed what he was, I was pretty happy to watch this movie quite a bit, after I first saw it on my Xfinity on-demand.
The only real problems I had with it was the overuse of the whole "tossing people around in a fight" thing, that I see so much in movies nowadays. The T-800 throws John Connor more than once, Marcus throws the T-800 a couple of times, and the T-800 even throws Marcus across the room, just for good measure lol it has always seemed like a silly thing for any opponent in a fight to do, to pick someone up and toss them, as opposed to punching, kicking, or using some other EFFECTIVE tactic against their opponent.
But, besides all the, "people throwing," (which I've obviously made clear lol does actually get a little annoying after a while,) I thought Terminator Salvation was pretty solid sequel.for the Terminator franchise.
(It was at LEAST better than anything else that I'd seen since T-2, claiming to be a sequel, up to that point. And, every failed attempt since has made it look even better, to me.) 👍😎
"gets better" thats not how this works. a bad movie doesnt get better by releasing a shittier movie, T3 is still bad and Salvation is still meh. I find the lack of future war, in this future war movie disturbing, i find it annoying that the T-800 that would kill it's target even if it was reduced to a torso with it's bare hands is now tossing around it's primary target like a potato sack. Its nice fanservice, shame that it's wasted in a retarded fight scene. Now to compare to Genysis.(which is absolute dogshit) but it did one thing right. something they clearly took notes from in Salvations critique. T-800 attacks. In genysis when T-800 gets repaired by T-1000, the T-800 actually goes after reese and is being Brutal, efficient and direct. no "I will catch and throw" bullshit. It tears off objects and tries to punch him to death at every occasion it gets.

Yes that's true . Better Effect they made the Same similiar arrival Scene like in Terminator 1 that's cool. The punk didn't have Tlthe Same haircut. But this movie plays in a different Timeline. Parallel World

Glad I'm not the only one that gets creeped out by the thumbnail. I think it has something to do with the bright lighting that we usually associate with more peaceful scenes and the background itself being brightly lit and clean. Also the fact that the T800 skeleton is almost seamlessly blending in with the skin
Thumbnail looks pretty creepy. They should have used that rather than the uncanny valley Arnold. Could imagine a scene where Connor's presence causes Skynet to release the T800 while its still in the process of having its skin grafted on.

@@rafazeppeli8778 But if there are multiple ready to use T800's, why did Skynet only deploy one of them to combat John...? It's best not to try and debunk stuff, because you can always debunk the debunks. At the end of the day, there are multiple ways to write it into the story to make sense. Maybe it's the closest one to John so they release it preemptively. Maybe they just change the script so it's the T800 which is the furthest along, so they release it before it's finished.

What happens in the story should be consistent, or it's bad story.
Additionally, the whole point of this scene is that it's supposed to be, recognisably, the Arnold Schwarzenegger T800 - that, *is*, the big reveal and it's where the entire significance and impact of this whole sequence is actually coming from.
That thumbnail is not recognisably the Arnold Schwarzenegger T800 - which would then mean the entire significance in the sequence that the movie is trying to achieve, is lost - before the sequence even begins. Nonsense.
There's no strongly consistent reason why Skynet would deploy a half-finished and unrecognisable machine - and while you could create any number of weakly-consistent scenarios to attempt to justify Skynet using the half-finished and unrecognisable machine, that would just be bad writing where those scenarios are only attempting to justify something that fundamentally contradicts what the sequence is actually trying to achieve?..
It just becomes ridiculous.
For Some reason, this clip seems to Omit the work of Austrian actor & bodybuilder double for Arnold, Mr. Roland Kickinger! They Never say his name and blocked his face in every shot and never even gave him an interview! What the hell is up with that?! Seems that something deeper was going on in this film.
That's because back in the day Austria was a part of Nazi Germany and Arnold Schwarzenegger's father was a member of National socialist party.

@@frankguy9772 T3 took the campiness too far. But I still think it still managed to get certain things right as well. T-X was a good concept given the ability to control other machines. The T-850 had no chance against it except run away from it. Skynet sending a Terminator to kill other resistance leaders as John was untraceable after the events of T2, as well as ensuring that it takes over the military intelligence and unleash the nuclear apocalypse. Heros loose this time and the judgment day takes place. The T-850 is programmed to lie so that it can ensure John's survival. And the fusion device as the power cell used to kill the T-X was a nice thought. After the events in T2 this was necessary if the Skynet had to brought to the new future. You cannot completely change the future, it can be delayed but eventually the timeline catches up and things will align back. So I guess that thought was nice. T3 is a badly directed movie with bad acting, poor dialogues and a mediocre pacing, but the story did have some good ideas behind it.
As a fanboy, Salvation ticked a lot of boxes for me. It made Skynet the villain, gave us a roughened up John Connor. His past experiences give him the ability to predict Skynet's moves, like creation of the T-800, which cements his prophethood. He rises as the resistance leader. Marcus was the first attempt to create a human machine hybrid to infiltrate the resistance, which might make Skynet believe that it needs more machines that look like humans, we get to see that the bulky Terminators and harvestors are not effective against attacks and that Skynet constantly needs to improve its game to catch up with John. The factory fight scene was a great reference to the first movie. Portrayal of teenage Kyle was really good. I liked the reference made at tying the shotgun to the arm, which he does in T1, also him earning the resistance fighters coat from Marcus. Had the path being continued we could have seen battle deployed T-800 and even plasma rifles giving us the really future battle always teased in Cameron's movies.
The Dark Fate Sarah, John and T800 looked 1000 times better with the newer technology of today.
The CGI closeup is horrible but in the shadows, it’s good.

After dark fate I find myself appreciating TS more than I use too.

The thing that always annoys me so much when there’s an attempt to CGI ultra-realistic looking characters in movies, games, everything- is movement. Take a stillframe, it can kiiinda usually pass for “that looks good!”, but I swear 3D animators the world over don’t seem to think about how irl physics and movement work.
They love making eyes blink smooth at 60fps, or for hair to constantly bounce and wave, or otherwise to just always keep everything in motion. No jerkiness, no realistic snap-movements, just jello movement for every character and occasion.
Salvation’s Arnold suffered from exactly that (well, and cartoon eyeballs). Even though it didn’t move much to begin with, the eye movement and head turning had to be jell-o. It just angers me looking back at how true and lifelike ILM made T2, Jurassic Park, Alien, etc. for their day. And here we are now, supposed to be impressed by THIS?
Thank lord for deepfakes, that lets the original human on screen take care of the movement that animators seem to have such a hard time paying any attention to.

Or just have stuck to the body builder they used for this scene...im really surprised that this video left out that there's a real body builder actor under the CGI. It would've been great if this movie brought bacl the fact not all T800s looked like Arnold. Roland Kickinger would've been just fine for this scene

This scene is a surprised everyone...this brought out the entire sci fi movie industry up to another level..the audience didnt expected a young 1984 Arnold S. to be scene that way..The audience in the theatre went "Ape" on that scene...And every since this film came out with that.. Now other sci-fi films doing the same thing..

watching this, it truly amazes me how I could INSTANTLY spot "That's not Arnold" in the John Connor scene in Dark Fate, while in Salvation I was thinking "Damn, they nailed his CGI stuff!" Sadly, Terminator Dark Fate went the Star Wars / Star Trek route and retroactively improved ALL of the older movies.

Too bad they changed everything when Bale signed on. The story was going to be about a soldier in the resistance and John would have been this mythical figure talking to them on the radio and eventually becoming the leader of the resistance.
We need a movie about the war. But not this movie. We need a movie that expands on the war scene from the first two films. The laser rifles and the hopelessness woven into the aesthetic of the dark future.

I loved the Terminator endoskeleton in this movie, better than any movie.
The cgi looked great especially for 2009, you guys just love bashing cgi even though its a good way to make scenes more alive and entertaining.

Me encantaría regresar a 2009 y lograr una manera en la que la película sea un éxito para seguir con una película establecida ya en el futuro presentado en las primeras 2 películas con HK Aerials y los T-800 con rifles de plasma de 40 watts de alcance,y como no! Crhristian Bale sería Jhon Connor ! Todo se arruíno con Genesys que intento innovar y fracaso y Dark Fate que terminó por sepultar lo que fue tan buena Franquicia,con un lore tan rico que hay en las novelas y comics,podían presentar a los infiltrators biológicos y al T-Infinity pero no !! Matan a Jhon en los primeros minutos de la película y lo remplazan con una chica random...

Lo más triste de todo es que no veremos nada de la saga en muchos años más... Y con suerte... Lamentablemente el creador decidió terminar con todo matando al líder de la resistencia en el primer minuto... :( Tanto potencial desperdiciado con puras secuelas mediocres... La 3 es horrible, con Sarah muerta y demasiados chistes a lo marvel, salvación arruinó todo dándole más importancia al actor de avatar y su historia que al mismísimo líder John... Génesis, ni hablar... Fue un desastre rotundo desde su guión hasta los actores y por último la que podía salvar todo decidió terminar con la franquicia en 2 minutos... Arruinar todo lo que se había conseguido por querer encajar a la fuerza el feminismo. Ojala algún día podamos ver la VERDADERA tercera parte y sea con jhon adulto combatiendo a skynet!!!!...

Salvation was the last atleast decent T movie.
To me, not that successful of a creation tbh. CGI not up to the task at this point. I see the tech had improved by the time of this latest Terminator movie (a more human like result of the young Arnie).

Even with 2009 technology, this Arnold model looks way more like him than the ones used on Genysis and Dark Fate. It doesn't look real because of how light reflects on his skin and eyes, which are things that are much better now.

You cannot solely rely on computer CGI because it is not good enough....why T2 was so great is they have used actual practical effects combined with CGI which made it all look and seem real. Look at the movement of the terminators in the beggining of T2 when they show the future scene when terminator steps on a skull and turns toward camera.... that was a practical animatornic puppet with computer CGI behind it and in places which practical effects were impossible. The result was mindblowingly real looking machine.... the movements were natural and it was a real terminator standing there..... with salvation you can see that CGI is second rate without practical effects and it looks fake and cheap. Sadly... it costs more to have practical effects today because you have to make the phyisical puppet, employ operators and actors to move it use it etc...so it's cheaper to make it on the computer and save money but the result is crap because it is simply not good enough not REAL enough. People are saying how come T2 which was made in 1991 has better effects then all the sci-fi movies made in 2020 and the reason is they used real practical effects COMBINED with computer CGI ..... they did not solely rely on computer CGI. Sadly hollywood today does not care about this and the result is bad film.

I’ve always felt that the CGI Arnold in Salvation was the only “salvation” to this film. With nearly the whole movie being shot during the daytime, the entire aesthetic of the future war was off compared to what James Cameron showed us in T1 and T2. No blue-lit nighttime battles, no lazer beams flying through the air, no armies of endoskeletons and HKs on the skull-ridden battlefield. Nada. This film didn’t work for me.
not to mention that they are using ordinary M4's to take down terminators...... I mean where the fuck is the logic? it has been established in both original and T2 that conventional firearms don't do fuck all to the terminator endoskeleton but temporarily damage his human tissue which eventually regenerates. So why the fuck would the resistance use M4's and use them to kill terminators????? WTF? this is the reason why people hate movies like this because they entirely shit on the original and completely ignore very important facts and lore. I mean they used Phased Plasma rifle in 40 watt range to take terminators down, and it actually took several hits to incapacitate them... so wtf.

It shows the war in 2018. While james cameron show the war scenes that were in 2029.
T-600 were weaker than T-800. That's why they can be destroyed with normal firearms.
Plasma weapons were not a thing in 2018. They were created later on.
We could've actually seen these things you mentioned but no. You guys complained and now we are never gonna get those movies thanks to you haters :)

Star Trek has the same problem with the Roddenberry Obsessives going Nuts when JJ Abrahams came into launch the highly acclaimed and successful Reboots .....I thought they were all wonderful movies and great entertainment on the whole, which is what the Trekkers just don’t seem to accept- Hell even Nimoy and Shatner called them DickHeads and to go get a Life!!

I thought Salvation was a really good movie with some interesting ideas and uptakes going on, and it had a Dynamic Trio of Bale, Worthington and Anton Yelchin providing some great scenes...... but these Obsessive Fanatics, WTF??
The same thing with Dark Fate, I thought yeah great movie, some great ideas and different twists- who ever said that John Connor was untouchable?? And it’s main bonus of course was having the wonderful Linda Hamilton back as Sarah Connor! The Dynamics between her, Mackenzie Davis ( who was also excellent I felt) and Arnold’s character was great, and it did provide a worthy follow on from T2 I felt, and also of course, it’s great entertainment which at the end of the day, is what it is all about right??
But it seems that the Obsessive Fanatics, just want to see the same old, same old, time after time, and how mindlessly boring is that????

Peoples EGO are so big now.. Salvation was good.. Dark Fate was pretty damn good.. and im a big fan of 1 and 2. people just love to hate.. to hate.. just let it be..
The cgi Arnold looked a little too big.
Benjatron26354 apparently it’s intentional because this terminator is an earlier prototype of the t800 before mass production so is a bit larger than the one that was sent back in the first movie
Yet the CGI was still crap and he looked plastic.
Compared to Tarkin and Leia in Rogue One, as well as Arnold's muscle suit in Rise of the Machines, it was very convincing.
Weird one though as originally they made Arnie shiny to make him look more CGI.
