Thanks for the upload. Looked like it might be over complicated to program but actually looks pretty straight forward to use. Especially after a few hours of use.
Hi Ian, i bought the nektar , after watching you video, i decided to go with the newer style n advanced tech of the nektar, I have to say im glad i did, its tough, sleek, feels n looks good, foot tabs are very nice, plenty of choises to make your way with, now i just have to get my head around the midi part to use with Bias FX on my Ipad, Nice bita KIT m8, as you say...cheers
Good catch: I was not aware of this controller! What I'd love to get is a MIDI Foot Controller with a slightly smaller footprint. Really interested in MIDI Maestro from Singular Sound.
Hi, I've just tried on by the letter, obviously by the Boss RC-500. Sure, it's not working. Maybe Midd CC# are different. Anyway, thanks for the great tutorial.
Can I change all the switches to be toggle switches in Ableton? It says on the box 1 through 10 available switches to use. I wanted to be able to use all 10 in my mini mapping but it only allows me to do 6! What the heck why?
Hey there. You mentioned it can send six midi note messages simultaneously so could map a chord. I just got mine, you ever work out how that’s done? All I see references it it triggering up to 6 messages so I assume triggers but would utterly love if those could be notes so I could layer the right note combo, press a pedal and have like a minor chord play. Cheers
Hey yes it is possible but slightly weird first time to set-up a switch since you have to activate the steps and for each step you select note triggers and the right midi note. First try enabling say, 3 steps and then go to the type menu option the. You should be able to select a step and change its type and parameters and then go back to type and select the next step. If I recall this is correctr but I can make a video if you get stuck, try it out and let me know if you need further help! :)
Citizen Warwick - Thanks so much for the speedy response. Really appreciate it. I’d tried using the Reason chords player which translated a single note to a chord but zero way of altering between say a major and minor so delighted it’s possible to layer more than one note per pedal. I really like the pacer, but it’s programming is somewhat cumbersome, I really hope Nektar bring out. Software editor at some stage. Thanks again. Keep up the music and jamming mate.
Cool its true its cumbersome but after a bit of usage it gets easier, just not perfect and that software would be super useful even to visualise how its currently programmed because you can't see that in summary :( lets hope they do something! :)
It's a little quirky alright, programming notes sometimes I get there via 'NOTES' on the display, sometimes cycling through it's 'NT' (some correlation to the button sequence I press, and I think it's related to the fact that some menu selections stay on screen for a few second then pop back to a root menu versus others that stay static). I also find that sometimes after setting notes I press 'Preset' and it undoes the change versus other times pressing Preset gets me back to the point where the note and colors I've added stay and I can test the note. I've also hit this weird thing where sometimes the display shows the preset name with dots and if you press encoder it reloads the preset minus your changes. Reminds me very much of menu diving synths I had back in the 90s that all had their own unique set of combinations and selections. Still, once it's set up, a great device altogether. Thanks again for posting, wish Nektar put some more operational videos out.
@@peterdanner2336 ah yeh i don't press preset to navigate back use the dial and find the back option in the menu to go back to previous menu this saves the setting but you need to back out all the way when you want to save the preset by choosing save in the top menu, it's awkward but once you understand the menu system and how to get back it gets easier
Do you reckon this would work with the Boss RC-505 looper? I seen people doing crazy work arounds with FCB-1010, having to press the switch a second time (everytime) so it sends a "reset" message or having to instal UNO custom chip?
Nice video! A quick question please,, can you customize the values in CC mode?, Lets say for ex. The snapshots in helix native which all change at cc69 but the value differs, so cc69value1 is first snapshot,, cc69value2 is 2nd snapshot and so on...so do i have control over the values also?
Thanks for the tutorial! Solid piece of gear I’m about to set mine up. What camera are you using for this? It focuses nicely as you change distances and stuff.
i had a look at this for running with Bias fx on the ipad, idid look hard at the fcb 1010, but rekon this is a newer way n as i have seen the fcb 1010 is a problem child to configure and needing a prom 3 chip to work wonders with midi setups..might just get this instead..
Hi, thanks for your video! Is it mandatory to enable “ External Midi Clocl”, to make the EHX work with the Nektar (or any other external midi foot switch)? And if this is the case, I guess you are forced to dedicate foot controls to rec/play/dub as well? I would like to use “ internal Midi Clock”, use the rec/dub/play pedals of the 95000 and dedicate external foot switches only to mute/unmute the 6 tracks, quickly access a number of pre-set loop numbers (and maybe things like punch-in/out button, time slider, volume). But I guess, that is not possible...?Or do I misread the EHX manual and it is possible to use an external foot controller and keep the EHX as the clock master?
Hey! It's a great question. I use the 45000 with the Pacer extensively and I don't use midi clock. I mapped most of the transport controls (play, stop, record) and also use the Pacer to mute tracks. Also I run my pacer into a midi mapping box called a iconnectivity Mio 10 which allows me to distribute and filter messages from the pacer effectively to my other midi instruments. Because the EHX 45000/95000 had an excellent MIDI spec it's easy to map the Pacer to any of its function without having to clock sync at all :) hope that answered your question please check some of my newer live music jams if you can i use the Pacer in all of them can see it more in action 🙂❤️☀️🌍🙏
Welcome. It's true! Footcontroller offers much more options and just having track mutes at my feet helps with break downs, very useful combination, glad the MIDI spec is so good on the looper
Citizen Warwick, hi. I want to know if I can control the Boss RC-505 and the BeatBuddy from SingularSound at the same time, is it possible with this? Also if you you think this is better than the Roland FC-300? Thank you in advance. Keep the good work 👍🏻
Hey man. I am not sure about the fc-300 though the Nektar Pacer is fully programmable can send up to 6 midi messages per Footswitch and also you can save presets containing all your mappings of the available switches. Its fairly easy to program though could be better. The rc-505 and Beatbuddy given both have midi ins it's just a matter of look at the midi implementation documentation for those units to figure out which messages you want to send out from the pacer. My opinion may be biased though I love the pacer very useful! :) I made a video going over my setup and usage of the pacer may be useful ruclips.net/video/thEpS4H5ZAE/видео.html hope that helps!
Good question not sure about that however you can choose from various types of message such as cc toggling though not sure exactly how you mean, you must press a switch for it to transmit a message though.
Citizen Warwick , yes but the problem is that Boss pedals use “normally closed” circuit and that’s why lots of people is struggling with the FBC1010 from Behringer that uses “normally open” so sometimes you need to press twice the pedal. The signal will be activated when release, not when pressing. For instance, if you have “normally open” switch the boss won’t do anything until you release the pedal, don’t know if I make sense? And also it can be a problem in looping with the timing. Sorry, just trying to get to the solution I need 😂. Right now gathering all possible information!
Citizen Warwick , the BeatBuddy has the option of recognizing the type of pedal you’re using (bonus), not the Boss though 😢, you’re stuck with closed circuit. That’s why I need to know about the switches on the Pacer, otherwise I might need to carry on with the Roland fc-300!
Yo, if axe FX receives midi messages for tap delay then it is possible. The Nektar Pacer can send any midi message and can work with any midi device that can receive them
Hey man, Quick Question... Have you tried it with IOS? does it work with an Ipad? or only Mac Os? No info on their website about this.. Just wondering if you can try. Thanks
Not so sure an iPad is supported but worth a try depends on whether it can do USB OTG but I think Nektar Pacer might not be able to do that. Might be worth reaching out to Nektar on that one

@@CitizenWarwick I got the Pacer and I keep reading over it's 24 page manual. I can set the MMC program but would like to setup a reset/play switch and sequence up/down button(s). I'm struggling here, have you got that far?
Hey Mark no I didn't get that far with it though stop start commands seem to be difficult to receive on most units because they don't seem to have corresponding midi commands it's done by some special transport midi messages and never got my head around it. So far I only send note commands
This video is so natural, with great presentation.2024, just bought Nektar for Amplitube 5.
