Hi Andy, thank you for the best tutorial I've seen explaining the Pacer settings to control Ableton ... but it doesn't work for me. I've done the Pacer settings as you described, no problem. Like in your video, I assigned one clip to pedal 1 via midi learn. When I press pedal 1, the clip only blinked for 1 second (in square mode) and the Rec button will not be activated. Afterwards I assigned via midi learn pedal 1 to the clip and to the Rec button. When pressing the pedal, Rec button is activated, but when I press the pedal once again, the clip is activated (red circel mode) but the Rec button isn't activated anymore (so it's not possible to record). In this manner here your answer to Terry Lacny's question (see comments) you wrote: "I’m pressing the footswitch assigned to that cell. That single assignment allows press 1 > select, press 2 > rec, press 3 > stop and loop(play). All same button", but this didn't work for me :( Only 3 actions with one pedal, to active, to record and to play the clip ist so great. I've done a lot of time to figure this out, no results ... although it seems so easy in your video (maybe some additional settings in Abletons Preferences must be done? Can you help please. Thank you
Great tutorial, set the notes up but when I switch to Ableton it’s not receiving from Nektar in midi learn. The transport settings work but the notes that I set up per your instructions aren’t being received
Hmmm so the pacer starts and stops Live in transport mode but no midi messages do anything. Check how it’s set in midi devices. Check also that the indicator lights in Live blink when notes come in. If you still can’t get it you can email me. 👍🏼
@@alwaysandy_ I remember reading something about each switch being able to do an additional 6 commands per switch…did you happen to figure out what that means and how to do it? Appreciate you again
@@alwaysandy_ Hi Andy. A few days ago you were telling me about the 3 presses assigned to the one foot switch. It seems like you don’t know what he is exactly talking about here but isn’t your 3 presses related to the 6 functions per switch discussed here? Is seems like you are using 3 of the 6 available presses. In your case, you only needed 3 presses to achieve what you needed to do and not the entire 6. I hope that makes sense.
I am so confused. I followed instructions, learned how to make my own preset with the bottom row all programmed to a different note, and yet the only time the daw recognizes the pacer whatsoever is in transport mode. While using a preset with my custom notes on the pedals, it is unresponsive when trying to midi learn. Just straight up does nothing. I do not know why. HELP!
How do I make Ableton recognize my NT commands? If I programm the, as CCTrig Ableton lets me map stuff, if I assign NT to a button, it won't let me map in MIDI Learn mode.. Also, How do you auto-arm a track once it is selected? Thanks for the great video! Cheers
Thanks so much for this! I just got one and yours was the first tutorial I found, thank God. Super chilled, non-intimidating and doesn't make my head want to explode from all the information. THANK YOU! Also wondering, do all the settings stick when you open a new project or do you have to set it up each time you open a new project? I was having an issue with this with my midi device and had to set up the midi mapper in each session. I guess if you have a template, it should stick. Another question goes for the whole column when looping. Do you have to midi map each clip below the first one at the top or does the rest of the column just happen once you have set the 'note' setting up? Hope these question makes sense. Anyway, I look forward to going through your other videos. Subscribed. :)
Yayyy? Glad to help. So - yes - you must Save As from project to project or use a template to retain midi notes etc that are learned to cells. For your column q same thing. Each cell down the column has its own button learned from within a bank on the pacer. This is why I have 9 “Loop X” banks. Don’t forget to view the link in the description about Ableton breaking my track select method with v11.

Hi Andy Harper, Smiles here, als a friend of Davy. I'm setting up the Device after a long break from music, and something is wrong and up with the device. I follow the initial steps Control C-1, then SW 1, and then it automatically goes to set up all se9 or e55. I have no clue which one to choose, I think this step throws off all the rest of the steps you show us how to do after
The rest of the steps I can follow after, until the looping part, I'm not given a looping option anymore. I haven't turned the device on for awhile but it is acting funny
@@alwaysandy_ I don't know why I didn't think of this question until now, IN your setup are you only using usb cord from midi out to the back of PC, what cords are you plugging into your piano, guitar, and bass, into your computer?
Hi Andy, great tutorial. Just about to purchase one if I can find here. Can you tell me how should we manage to programme the second and following banks (in your case "loop1, loop2 etc") ready for new mappings? cc numbers(or notes?) stuff I'm a little confused on that, how do you decide which midi number (like 52, 54, 55 etc) to give to each of the 6 switches?
Thanks for the cool tutorial and lesson. I understand everything up to the 11:49 mark. When you hit the Piano button and then hit the button again … why did it start recording? I didn’t see you program it to record. When you hit that button again … you said it stopped by I didn’t see you program a stop either. Can you explain how you got it to record by clicking a second time and how your got it to stop by clicking a third time? Thanks!

✌🏼This just came into my feed… truly a very useful midi board for many things. Works with Ableton and Amplitube! 💯✌🏼
Your input in the first 1:57 on how not to get “muddled” is key. That being said, this controller seems deep.
It can be a swamp of misery it’s so deep. But mostly it’s roses. 😂
Hey there is it possible to have all the buttons on the pacer do cc commands? Or atleast 10 of them? Thanks
Not to my knowledge. Only 6 at a time. It’s stupid.
