- Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is still seven months away, as the third live-action movie starring the blue blur and his angsty rival Shadow will premiere on December 20. And fans are eagerly anticipating the first trailer for the upcoming movie. Though some lucky ones were able to get a first look at a private event in April, the general public has been waiting to see even a single frame of the film. So much so that we are reaching a peak state of madness. After a week that many were sure a trailer would drop, it's still not here, and doesn't look like one is coming anytime soon. When could it drop? Find out what I think in this video today!

Movie trailers usually release 6 months before the movie date. June looks like a good window for the trailer to drop. Everyone can relax for the rest of May and not worried about it.

I can see it releasing around Sonics birthday (June 23), which is also when Sonic Adventure 2 released in 2001. Im betting on that.

Honestly, this has been great marketing strat. This buzz has made the hype for Sonic 3 even bigger and gas def shown paramount that we are excited for this movie, which probably gives them confidence to keep sonic movie 3 on dec 20

I understand people's immense enthusiasm but seven months out is far too soon for a first trailer. Even with it being a Christmas release, there's usually a gap of five to six months between first trailers and movie releases for the previous two films.
Not really. I mean Mufasa is the same day and they already did a trailer. It’s not too early to start marketing, especially with other competition.
Let me remind you Mufasa dropped it's trailer weeks ago, and that novie will be released in december 20th.

The mufasa trailer I believe was a teaser trailer, from what I've seen Sonic's teaser trailer is the title announcement. June seems most likely to drop the trailer

I can only speculate, but if I were to guess, I know SEGA likes to do their annual Sonic Central videos in June. It’s possible they might be holding off on showing the trailer until then.
I feel like next month would be reasonable! Movie 2 had a 4-5 month marketing push, and since this movie feels a lot bigger than Movie 2, I think Paramount would have a longer marketing push.

While it is disappointing that the trailer wasn’t dropped in front of IF, however it will probably be dropped in June maybe during Summer Game Fest or during Sonic Central, we could still wait to see when the trailer will officially be released, also I’m definitely looking forward to Sonic X Shadow Generations when it comes out.

I honestly expected this. As much as I wanted it to be true I was pretty confident it wouldn’t happen. It just felt too early in general, 7 months away and a full trailer, felt just a bit too ambitious. I’m expecting something around August at the earliest
The trailer will most likely coming out in june since trailers for movies usually come out 6 months before the movie, and since sonic movie 3 comes out in December that means the trailer will come out in june.
So people be patience, you can be patience for the movie which it won't come out until another 7 months but you won't for a dang trailer, so just chill out and be patience it takes time for them to make a trailer and I know they made one for a cinema con but they need to make a proper movie trailer.
Also I blame people on the internet for over thinking and over hyping that the trailer will come out this month, it takes time to make a trailer and those people that are say the trailer coming out are just lying so that they get views and likes because that's all they care about.

@@Taylorswifthater99 I agree. But at the end of the day, whether we or Paramount likes it or not, Sonic is still a Sega property, and they make the final call. It's safe to assume the trailer will drop on Sega's terms, not Paramount. And the best time to help SEGA out commercially, would be to drop at Sonic Central, June 23rd. It's the only thing that makes sense at this point.

The trailer being at Summer games fest, or Sonics birthday are probably the two most likely dates to drop the trailer, its gotta be next month, especially since they had the trailer and everything, but after the surprise was spoiled or something like that from trailer track, they just pushed it to keep people guessing
Clearly they want the anticipation and excitement of the movie to be exciting and big, and considering how they JUST released the Knuckles Spin Off Series on Paramount+, they probably didn’t want fans to be overwhelmed by the amount of Sonic related News and Content.
ALSO LETS NOT FORGET THE WRITERS AND ACTORS STRIKE BACK IN 2023 WHICH MORE THEN LIKELY PUT A DENT IN PRODUCTION.

As someone who didn't actually expect a trailer this week, I do agree with both sides of this debate; I think now it way too early to start marketing but I know that the competition is already getting higher.

At least 2 out of 3 of those dates are likely possibilities but who knows?
With Disney making Mufasa, Sonic 3 will smoke every movie off the face of the earth.

It is way too early to release the trailer. I think that Paramount is still working on making the 2 minute long trailer. Summer game fest is unlikely because that will be just about Sonic X Shadow Generations. I honestly think that the best time to release the trailer is ahead of Despicable Me 4 witch releases on July 3rd.

I don't expect the trailer until August or September. The reason for this is that the first trailer for Sonic 2 came 4 months before it's release on April 8th, 2022 and the first Trailer for the first Sonic movie came 3 months before it's release on February 17th, 2020. If we go with that, that would be August or September for Sonic 3. Maybe even July or even June, but I don't expect it any earlier.

Wrong, the first trailer for the first Sonic movie came out sometime in April 2019 or May 2019 if I remember correctly. So I think the first trailer for Sonic 3 will come out next month.

you know the general public has been waiting for the trailer to release for a very long time due to these leaks from these trackers and leakers who can find stuff like trailers or so and here we are, no trailer. IF is about to release like, very soon and no trailer. the week has passed and no trailer. we might not receive a trailer this month but probably sometime around SGF or when Sonic Central premieres it
but still, the hype for the movie is insane and i think they should release the trailer. they've most likely been stalled because of the strikes that happened around 2022-2023 and that's fine, but disney already released their trailer for the lion king movie that has the exact same release date as the sonic movie 3. early-mid June should be the point where they release the trailer or around that month.
