This literally happened to me on Wednesday. I've been so confused as to what it could be, so your video is a godsend. 1. Because now I know I'm not the only one and 2. Because there is a solution, and it's simple! Thanks you! 🙌
Before you replace the starter check and see if it’s the vehicle anti-theft system. I turned the key all the way forward to start it and held it about 30 seconds. Turned it off then it started. I’m not saying your guys problem is t the starter. It’s just that my way is easier to try before you do that.
2y later but I had same symptoms and I put in a new starter but still no starter click. Put new battery connections on and tried a fuse relay under the hood location. I will take it off and redo the starter this weekend to make sure I didn't put it on weird or something.
hey, man I hope you see this an reply back to me so my girlfriend car is a 2000 Nissan xterra 3.3 v6 , so her is doing the same did the radio and headlights windows still work we tested the battery so I am praying its the starter all the relays are good an wires so only thing left is the starter
All my powered components still work on mine. Battery is good, radio, headlights and all that still come on, just no response from engine. It's been 5 months since you commented, so I hope you got the thing running!

Awesome, be sure to make sure to test battery, fuse, and the relay. Fortunately that starter is an easy replace.

Going out to buy a swivel wrench. I can't get that top bolt off. Thanks for the wheel well access to that clip.
Did you try also hitting the starter a few times with a hammer? Sometimes the molecules get stuck and by hitting the starter, it looosens them up.
It's been a while, but I believe that I did, anyway, good tip (especially when stuck somewhere with a truck that wont start).
What is the flashing light by the starter???
What did you use to lift the Xterra? That's the only thing keeping me from being able to make this repair on my own.
a jack
