I just got a new pair of red lace ups. Exact same issues as yours. No strong smell, logo has that big heat plate imprint. I think they legit, they just mass produce the common red, black and blue lace up. I’m not too disappointed because my last pair of Velcro 16oz Cleto’s weighed 19.8 ounces. These new red ones are actually 15.5 for a 16 oz glove. So in some ways they’re actually better. Also color is a bit shinier.
They are real. The 149$ version is actually gloves that were messed up during manufacturing. Kind of like an outlet. The ones of the cleto reyes site are far better
Sorry, but I just ordered a pair directly from Reyes and it has the same issues. I was willing to look over the others, but the liner hanging down on the inside, it made it totally unusable. I wouldn't be surprised if Reyes aren't being made in Pakistan and they're just putting on the "Hecho en Mexico" labels on. Whatever leather they're using now is not like when I got my first pair of Reyes' back in the early '90s. This new leather reminds me of all those Pakistani-made gloves, and the smell isn't the same either.
Agreed. Ive seen pics of Cletos in the 90s and the leather looks like butter. Even the safetecs I got back in 2016 were different from the ones I just got a few months ago. My 2016s stunk up my room like leather for a whole month. My 2023s smelled good but the smell went away after like a week..@@Cambodia69
I had same issue. Imma return them. I bought same ones only they were red. They were also 16oz but weighed 13oz. I am sketched out too by these gloves.
These gloves appear to be genuine cleto reyes gloves. As highly rated as Cleto Reyes are, they do have alot of quality control issues especially for a glove thats nearly $200. When you get a pair of Cleto Reyes there is a 50% chance that you will get a pair that is either well built or get a pair that has so many issues, like loose stitching inside the gloves, exposed padding, tears in the leather from the razors they use to cut the leather,ETC. My Reyes gloves which I personally bought directly from the Reyes website had no issues that affected the glove performance wise, just cosmetic issues such as the logo but other than that nothing else.
I just ordered a pair of 8 oz lace-up Safetec boxing gloves, directly from the Cleto Reyes website, and while everything else was good, the liner arrived just like yours in this video. As many different boxing gloves as I've owned, borrowed, tried out, I've never once experience a liner like that. It's so bad that they're unusable. What the f*ck is going on with Cleto Reyes?
Yeah I did end up contacting Reyes and verified through email they are legit but I had Amazon replace them and the second pair that came was almost the same but was right on weight with both gloves so I kept those.
I already know if I get these shipped to my country, they're gonna send me the worst pair they have on stock cuz they know I would never be requesting for an exchange.
I bought a pair for $189. Yellow, black laces, had an oval line outside of the logo but not as deep as the one in this video. Still got the strong smell, but the outer leather seems to comes off by some small dots after one training. Idk if it is fake or mismanufactured
The fact that manny Pacman is an avid cleto Reyes fight glove user and doesn’t use the training gloves, but uses winning gloves instead, should tell you all you need to know about cletos sparring training gloves.
Yeah it did and they are real but just didn't really like them I think maybe they were left in sunlight or something cause the replacement gloves were perfect
Did you make sure it was shipped and sold by cleto reyes ? Because there are other vendors who sell knock offs its fucked up how amazon lets that go on

These are fake, and more than likely made in Pakistan. Tons are being “manufactured” in Pakistan. Real Cleto Reyes gloves have very noticeable and meticulous double-stitching. After much consideration and research, I went straight to the Cleto Reyes site and I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas morning. I’m 43 😆 Hope you got this resolved and are happy with your Reyes’ 🥊🤘🏽
Yeah I have but I'm not a fan of their style of gloves. They just don't feel good to me. The padding is too big on the knuckle area and gives a false sense of range while hitting the bag and they are also very tight around my hands but for a smaller or normal size person I'm sure they are fine
@young man oh well to be honest I would just order from cleto reyes unless you can get a good price. Alot of time ringside does sales but excludes Reyes and fairtex but they are legit 👌
@@nricofighter Appreciate the feedback. I already ordered them for 209. Just waiting on them to get here. I'm just hoping now that none of my training partners get upset that I'm sparring with Cleto. After I ordered them I started to read about how brutal they are but I dont really know what to think because I've never really paid attention to what kind of gloves I'm getting hit with. It always depended on the person punching me whether it hurt or not lol

@@ThermoRefrigerationLLC where are you buying $260 Reyes gloves? I’ve bought them in countless places and I’ve never paid no $260.
