The drive runs much slower because it has to travel along the plate longer to get the data it needs. If you defragmented the drive it might speed it up.
Yeah this is really pure storage. I am not using it to do anything other than storing my photography work since speed isn't as important there as it would be for gaming or any more intensive function.
Could you make a video showing what sounds it makes when you’re using it? I got one a while back haven’t used it much and it feels and sounds kind of irregular. And not as quite as my Porsche external hd that I got years ago. And my transfer speeds feel SUPER slow paired with the M1 mbp
my nephew has an Xbox that is no good so we bought him a new one. I bought a 5 TB WB blk game drive to transfer his games off the old Xbox and during the setup I selected the option to use the game drive for just one Xbox, rather than the multiple devices option. Now I'm wondering if I'll run into problems trying to use it on the new Xbox.
Yes. You can play games from the drive. But ps5 games are not able to play while in the drive.ps4 games are. You have to copy the game and take it in and out of the drive to play them for ps5 but ps4 works perfectly fine
I just got mine and on the back of the hard drive it says "Product of Thailand", and I looked up WD and it says it's an american company, can't tell if I got the real deal of a knock off...
The company can be based in the US but the product actually manufactured in another country. That very typical. For example Apple is an American company but a lot of their products are manufactured overseas. As long as you bought your drive from a reputable seller and the drives works as advertised, I wouldn’t be concerned

You are awesome. Thank you for the way you explained this. I really appreciate you for doing that.
Hi, do you know if it's true that the 4tb variant is slightly faster?

So, is this just a regular 2.5" drive in a fancy external drive case?
I just ordered the 2TB version of this HDD, I won't be gaming on the thing, but to back up my digital games. 😁
Very detailed 👍
Nice review, i like it
Hi, I'm WD Black too. I disconnect on the PlayStation, only the WD Black light is on. Should it be like this?
is it ok to buy this now day and age?
Am I able to play the x/s games on the drive
How much sound does it make?
little more then a potato
Does this play nice with Linux? (Steamdeck)
So. its not good for daily use of copy paste consistently?
It's perfectly fine for that. I'm saying it's not ideal for video editing or photo editing off of it
can i use this for PS4 games on the PS5
