Is it true that the maximum operating temperature that this drive can be used is 35 degrees celsius ? Can it get damaged if you reach 40-45 degrees ? I bought a 4tb one and i'm worried it will die quick.Paid 82$ .Also if i don't get eject option on this hdd ,is it safe to turn off the pc when the device is plugged and not moving files or being used or i will have the eject option like the fat32 flash drives since its formatted at exfat ? I'm on Windows 7 still idk if that matters too and it will be powered by usb 2.0 port from the motherboard .Will it be enough power the hdd ?
Hey there I'm just wondering is it possible to install this drive into a gaming laptop and also is it possible to install the 5TB model as well Just not sure how much to terabytes you can put into a laptop
I bought one july 2023 and this month i was getting transfer speeds from my PC to the drive at less than 10 mb and sent it back (bough on amazon) and just bought another one. Lets see if this one works better.
Rotation speed are 5400 rpm and have a buffer on 130mb/s and can read up to 5GB/S. I am thinking i will get WD Red Pro HDD 4 TB - 3.5" - 7200 rpm buffer 256 MB 6Gb/s. and get usb 3.1 cable and Seagate E202404 JMS577 controller
Do not buy anything from WD directly. Use a third party if you insist on having their products. The reason I say this is because they have delivered my product using UPS, who left it in an insecure location from where it was stolen (if it was actually my door, can't really tell from the picture), and now they refuse to help. They insisted I get a crime number which I have done and now they have just turned around, ordered me a 20% discount on my next purchase OR an extra years warranty on the item that has been stolen. Complete joke of a company, I will be taking it further and completely out of their hands.
Update: over 5mo after, average usage a couple of times a week, and life says is about 70% in HDD sentinel and the windows os is req to scan and fix every time is connected 🙄, not so confident to save unrecoverable personal data.
@@ttn68579 hey, it's still working, I use it on a weekly basis for backups and works fine. the scan and fix popup every time gets connected is still present, so I have to skip it every time as it freezes if it tries to repair it.
I had 5 piece of wd black p10 i had problems with that drive, when i try to download games, that is impossible mission, and yes, my internet is good, fiber optic 5GBIT but i limited on 1GBIT Because of HDD my internal and this external, same thing with Seagate i cant remember model, but same thing, with all my tests all those external disks getting slower and slower when you downloading something on that, empty disk was be same as yours 130mb write and around 130 read, but on the end when i had only 500gb free space which is around 10 percent, i had 12mb read and 16 mb write, my recommendation is, to use external drives only for storing something, nothing more. Thanks for reading this.
Is it normal that my one shows 4800 rpm on crystal Disk? How did you connect that? I benchmarked my one, and I got results near yours , but little bit slower
I have the same one, but mine starts to download games at 0mbs per second. I have an ethernet with really good download speeds and it only happens after it's been downloading something for a while.
I've just got this p10 version to store the ps5 games and I have an 8tb d10 to run all my ps4 games on the ps5, not had any issues with a single game yet from it and its filled with about 4.8tb worth so far
Hey man I've a couple questions. No 1. Is the WD Black P10 better than a Seagate 2TB or a Seagate 4TB? No 2. If I keep my Saved Data files on my PS Plus Cloud and only move my Games from the Internal Drive to the External Drive and then it suddenly decided to commit suicide, will all I have to do it re download the games that were on the drive and I'll get them back and all my Saved Data be safe? No 3. Lastly if I move an online game to the External Drive will it become laggy and un playable? If you could answer any of these I'll be so happy, cheers mate
1. I think the wd black is slightly better, but I have seen some Seagate ones go faster. 2. No you won't have to re-download the game, but will lose all your data in the game 3. I've played cod, fps shooters, and even gta 5 online with it and it worked great.
There are 4 screws to remove the cover. There should be no problem using the drive internally. I've taken many portables and used the drive internally. It's just a hdd inside. Nothing different than what you find in a desktop or laptop.

i had a p10 for about a year or so maybe a few month less, and it's starting to have disconnect problem when transferring files, especially lots of smaller files, hard drive itself appeared not in any trouble after scans , but the problem keeps happening, thought it's maybe a power problem, so i tried to take it out and install into my hdd dock, surprise, the p10 2.5 uses a special 2.5 drive that doesn't have a sata connection SO HERE'S THE PSA: YOU CAN'T JUST TAKE OUT THE DRIVE INSIDE ONE OF THE 2.5“ P10 and trouble shoot it with a sata connection
Thank you, Was scouring videos to see what's inside. With WD (I used to do contract work for them) if it's this type of connector on a similar size drive it's going to be a special drive that won't have a sata connection.
