My own father is a piece of shit. I have vivid memories of being yelled at just for existing on a daily basis. He's never once complimented me, told me he loved me, hugged me or wanted to spend any time with me while I was growing up. I was just a burden in his eyes and no matter what I did it was never good enough. Even when I would do well in school with a subject I was struggling with he'd find a way to turn it into a negative. There was no "Hey, you did it! Great job!" it was "You should've been doing this well from the beginning, there's no excuses for that!" You know, because children aren't constantly learning, we're born with all knowledge of the known universe already inside our heads, and I alone wasn't using it because... reasons.
At age 6 I would get yelled at for coming home from school through the front door and not immediately taking my shoes off by the front door, as in I had the door opened and he was yelling at me before I was even inside the damn house. Then getting yelled at for taking my shoes off BEFORE I was inside the house because I was "ruining my socks". Then I got yelled at for taking my backpack off so I could remove my shoes without toppling over because then I was "leaving my shit all over the place!" Then getting yelled at because I should've come home through the backdoor, which was always locked, and never the front door even though that was the door EVERYONE used. Next day I tried to come through the backdoor, it was locked, and then getting yelled at because he had to get up and unlock the backdoor for me instead of just using the front door. :/
He'd also leave the house when my brothers and I were sick, leaving my mom to take care of three sick kids all alone, and he'd hang out with his buddies all the time while claiming to be a loving father and supporting husband. He'd spend money on his wants over the family needs - eventually leading to the house being foreclosed on and leaving us homeless, but that's another story.
He's had affairs, had pain pill addictions, smoked himself into a massive heart attack and continues to smoke while paying hundreds of dollars on medications because of his heart attack, lays around all day without helping out around the apartment, won't clean anything, only cooks for himself - when my mom's back is too sore for her to cook for him, won't take care of the car and he's a chronic liar who tries to spout wisdom even when every word he speaks reeks of bullshit.
Those are just the highlights. He's done so much and I cannot stand to be around him.
I'm 33 and I remember these moments while he conveniently doesn't recall anything, but can't understand why I want nothing to do with him. I'll go to his funeral, but only to make sure he's really dead and not faking anything for attention!
Sorry for the long comment. It just felt good to vent for a moment and get a bunch of pent-up frustrations out of my system.

Then my husband started saying things, I got the knowledge of they know I can get better and I can do better, they just want to put me down because it makes them feel better about themselves or someone else. I proved it to my ex husband.

  • @ramadaxl
    @ramadaxl 2 года назад +2

That story about the guy on the train...
You don't have a ticket? What a shame.
This goes back to the mid 70's....so obviously paraphrased ( somewhat lol ).
I was heading of to Cornwall ( SW UK ) for a couple of weeks backpacking. But since it's a fairly long trip...and that I'm 6ft 3 inches...with correspongly long legs...decided to travel first class, for the extra space...I mean why not ?
So I find myself a compartment with only one other occupant...hiding behind a copy oft the 'Times' newspaper. He didn't even look up as I swung my rucksack onto the over head rack, then I just swivveled around and sat down. My next task was to dig out my tobacco and start rolling some ciggarettes, and putting them into a tin I had for them. I'm not sure what got his attention but the next thing I know Is I'm beng challenged with 'You DO realise that this is a FIRST CLASS compartment I presume'?!
Now I'm used to these stuck up SOB's...I've worked retail for quite a few years. So I look back at him...then at the sign on the door he's pointing to that proudly states 'First Class'. Then I turn back and look at him clamly...'Well...my congratulations on your powers of observation and your reading ability...I'm truly impressed...it does indeed say that'. All delivered in an 'upper class, cut glass, accent....the kind of accent that helps when you work retail in the west end of London ( or it did...not so sure about nowadays though ). He glared back at me and said 'I suppose you DO have a ticket'? 'Well actually yes...I do...why...don't you'?
Then he spots that I'm rolling cigarettes...but not actually smoking...in a non smoking compartment. He.Looses.It!
Spitting out 'We'll see about this'! He jumped to his feet and stormed out the door...a few minutes later he's back....with the conductor, who notices I'm rolling cigarettes...but not actually smoking. Then very politely asks to see my ticket. So I take of my hat...extract the ticket...and hand it to him. He looked at it...'clipped' it and handed it back with a small smile and a 'Thank you Sir'.
Then he turned to the other guy, 'While I'm here I may as well do your ticket as well Sir'...and held out his hand ( you know where this is going...don't you! ). He has NO ticket ! His season ticket is at home...he forgot to pick it up ( or so he said ).
Now the rules / law about tickets etc on British rail ( as it was at the time ) are that to travel you must be in possession of a valid ticket or authority to travel. So after a few ( loud and expletive filled ) minutes of shouting the guy gets told...'Either you pay for a ticket right now...or you'll be off at the next stop and with the Police waiting for you'. He paid lol
As the conductor left the compartment he looked at me, gave me a smile and winked.
Ah...don't you just LOVE karma !

I never understood people who get upset with a lowball offer. It usually only means the person has a low budget or don't have much experience negotiating. The only time you should react like the first person is if you are doing it professionally and your goal is to build a reputation for negotiating like that (which may or may be useful... it might just cause people to not do business with you.) Young couple, likes house, pushy dad pushes them to lowball and tries to negotiate hard, but what did that accomplish? The OP could have just said, 'No, we are standing firm'. If the couple had the money to come up they might have even beat the other offer, or if they couldn't, well, then they couldn't afford it and they were just trying to negotiate a price they could afford.
