There was a problem one day (costing big bucks lost) & he convinced the big boss that it was my fault & I lost my job (they said they 'didn't need me anymore' but the next week hired 3 people to replace me!). 2 years later, I heard that he got into a physical altercation with the Jr boss & lost HIS job! By then I had been approved for disability & didn't have to worry about them anymore - ever.
From the last story: There are losers, than there are losers. Dan had taken the loser position to a whole new level. Nicely done OP. I love reading how women stand up for themselves. Its refreshing to know there are women who won't lay down and play dead.

My one beef with the last story: why let others take credit for your work for years? Why allow yourself to be blamed for things you didn't do during those same years?
Because, when you are nearer the bottom: 1. No one would take you seriously; quite the contrary, they would think you were trying to climb up the ladder over other coworkers' bodies. 2. There is a Chain of Command. You Follow that Chain of Command or you are not a team player and your job would be on the line. 3. Life sucks, work is hard and you must be a team player or you have no value for the company. 4. You won't get good references for other jobs, if you break any of these rules. 15-20 years ago, a woman would not have been believed, and that is why we have Harrassment and Toxic Environment laws to protect those on the bottom.
Is the first story in Australia? I’ve had the electricity goons call me up to 5 TIMES IN ONE DAY!!! I block them, and they must have a thousand phone lines to call from! I remember the days before cell phone. The phone company used to send a monthly bill itemised. Each call had the EXACT minutes and seconds duration of each call you made. So why after hundreds of complaints aren’t these companies shut down by the phone companies?
When i get an unwanted call i just put the phone down and continue with whatever i was doing beforehand. I have done this loads of times, eventually the phone starts to wail and i see its about nine minutes of call they have paid for.

But having just happened to get the key, recording every conversation without them knowing, changing the laptop when nobody knew and they only had the key for it, finding out everything that happened in that close meeting, and then of course everyone applauded and got raises. Are you serious? You don't know ANYONE that because of whatever reason has to stay at a job? Maybe for the health insurance for a loved one that needs it...or because they live in a small town that doesn't have many jobs...or just because they have bills that need to be paid. I once took a HORRIBLE factory job and planned on being there just long enough to get my transmission fixed so I could get a better job.....ended up being there 3.5 years. Life is like that sometimes.

There are buses, trains, roads leading to larger towns nearby! Don't remain stuck like a small frog in a small pond. At least search for a larger pond with more opportunities
I quit after 18 months, when it became obvious that I was not getting anywhere. I would have stayed, if I enjoyed the work. But that job was bringing me down. Eventually, I took a job that honored my education and training. I was happy at that position for many years. Unfortunately, I was eventually let go from that job, because, as they put it, I had no ambition.
