Fantastic movie. Diane Lane amazing with only 18 years old. Youth. Divine treasure. Leaving to never come back. Diane just above and beyond !! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@@DoomxeenYou're completely entitled to your opinion, but I disagree about the music, especially the opening and closing songs written by Jim Steinman. The lyrics are not just awesome, they're FITTING, so they seem completely on-line with the tone and message of the movie. Jus' sayin' . . .
definitely one of my all time favorite movies. the soundtrack, the cinematography, everything about is so perfect !! plus diane lane will always be the most beautiful woman in the world in my eyes
Diane was at the TCM Film Festival this year with her early movie A Little Romance. I was able to tell her that Streets of Fire is one of my favorite movies of all time, and she said thank you. That made my entire year. I don't think anything will be able to top that. Also, it's one of my favorite soundtracks as well.
Apparently this movie was big in Japan. For evidence, check out the openings to Bubblegum Crisis, Zillion:Burning Night, and probably one of the Macross movies.
This is the only other movie that looks like it takes place in the Gotham City from the 1989 Batman. Even the cinematography recalls the original Batman. Even moreso than Batman Returns oddly..
Great great movie was always on the cable movie channels. Very underated and way better then the other garbage out at the time like footloose flashdanc etc and the dance crap pushed at the time. They got the retro future look right which isnt always done successfully. Maiden priest purple zep rush keep rockin people🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Another fun reference fact: Other than the obvious influence on The Bubblegum Crisis opening scenes, I never knew this movie was the obvious influence of the game "Final Fight." (This was verified by the game's creators.) I have been playing those games since the 90s, and first saw this movie around 2003... and NEVER put it together until reading about it.
Loved this movie-still do. A guilty pleasure. I was 15 when this movie came out, and Diane Lane was my biggest crush. Absolutely from heaven beautiful, and she has aged perfectly.
Nobody asked this movie to open this hard, but it did anyway.

Here because of the Patrick Willems video essay. And.... Yep. This is one of the greatest opening scenes ever filmed.
Saaame! Came here after the Willems essay :)
Well, it's certainly one of Walter Hill's best, although I think the opening of "The Warriors" is still better.
Same!
It's certainly shot well but the music doesn't really land for me. Willem Dafoe is fuckin' WILD in this movie, though.

Yea, Bubblegum Crisis opening is crazy good.
And Street Fighter/Final Fight Cody is inspired by Tom Cody.
There’s two things that will make any movie better. Diane Lane and sledgehammer fights.
Add some smash-mouth Amy Madigan too.
Five minutes worth of pure, undiluted secret sauce.
People talk about Bohemian Rhapsody and some of today's more modern rock and roll type movies, but this beats the hell out of anything you see today!
If the song sound a little bit like "Holding out for a Hero" it's because it was written by the same person.
They are both composed by Jim Steinman
I keep forgetting to Diane Lane's acting career has gone back this far!
You know its real when the Green Goblin time travels just to piss off Superman

I saw this movie many times in the cheaper theaters of Chicago. I loved it . ❤

This is cool!
This movie is Zack Snyder levels of “I wrote this when I was a teenager” except it actually works.

She was at the TCM Film Festival this year. I was able to tell her that SOF is one of my favorite movies. She said thank you! That made my year! ❤
Thanks for uploading this
I remember this movie like is was yesterday! Awesome 👏🏽
Diane Lane has no business being this awesome.
Ballsy to assume the audience won't know Willem Dafoe is providing the band announcement. That voice is unmistakable
Has anyone also watched Bubblegum Crisis?
I JUST watched it for the first time. Within one minute of the opening, I thought, "... if Walter Hill directed Blade Runner."
I like the opening riff/song (plays until 0:37 or so). Does it have a name?
I think it's just part of Ry Cooder's score..
It’s fantastic,I wish it was longer
Still got it???
can someone post the full film
Who else seen this movie over 500 hundred times, or is it just me
was 11 when this came out. was one of my favorite movies from the 80s
