This is the only other movie that looks like it takes place in the Gotham City from the 1989 Batman. Even the cinematography recalls the original Batman. Even moreso than Batman Returns oddly..

Masterpiece

Great great movie was always on the cable movie channels. Very underated and way better then the other garbage out at the time like footloose flashdanc etc and the dance crap pushed at the time.They got the retro future look right which isnt always done successfully. Apparently this movie was big in Japan. For evidence, check out the openings to Bubblegum Crisis, Zillion:Burning Night, and probably one of the Macross movies.

Another fun reference fact: Other than the obvious influence on The Bubblegum Crisis opening scenes, I never knew this movie was the obvious influence of the game "Final Fight." (This was verified by the game's creators.) I have been playing those games since the 90s, and first saw this movie around 2003... and NEVER put it together until reading about it.

Diane was at the TCM Film Festival this year with her early movie A Little Romance. I was able to tell her that Streets of Fire is one of my favorite movies of all time, and she said thank you. That made my entire year. I don't think anything will be able to top that. Also, it's one of my favorite soundtracks as well.

The montage was not particularly well-done. Rather than having a discernible story arch of some kind, it appeared as a mishmash of scenes taken from the production. Particularly disconcerting were the scenes that were sped up. In one scene two soldiers were seen walking across an open field. The speed with which the clip was played, the men reminded me of the silly walk Charlie Chaplin did in his silent films. The scene took me out of whatever emotional frame of reference the editor was aiming for. And, for future efforts, provide more information on the music being used. It would have been nice to know who performed Bach's work. Also, this piece was not written for piano. This was a transcription. Who did the transcription? If you want to venture into the area of video montage, you need to develop better skills than what is shown in this video.

Nobody asked this movie to open this hard, but it did anyway.
