Couldn't have said it better myself. Definitely a "cult" classic. I remember being blown away by the instrumental parts of the film score. It was my first introduction to the music of Ry Cooder. Probably just as well that the movie is not well known or I probably wouldn't have got the music pass RUclips's copyright check. Glad you liked it. Cheers!
I agree. The movie is unique, it has an amazing atmosphere, like a very hard vision of an atompunk society, more or less a 1950's vision of the future.
Moi aussi je regarder ce film avec mon père. Quelle époque 😊 il m'a tout appris ce film. Quand les gens veulent comprendre ce que je suis je leurs montre ce film.
If any of you all want to listen to "Bomber Bash," which is the song played during scene in which Tom Cody is shooting up The Bombers' motorcycles, the topic video for that song is here: ruclips.net/video/4Fbj3o3k_YQ/видео.html Warner released this song on Ry Cooder's compilation album "Music By Ry Cooder" back in 1995. Some of you have asked why Ry Cooder's full music score was never released, so here's why. It all has to do with a dispute between record labels over using the name "Streets of Fire" and over which one has the right to release the score. Back in 1984, "Streets of Fire" was originally distributed by Universal Pictures whist the soundtrack was released on MCA Records, which was also owned by Universal at the time. The music in the film was supervised by Jimmy Iovine, who is a very successful producer and now Vice President at Universal Music. Ry Cooder was signed to Warner Bros Records at the time. Although Warner Bros had given Ry Cooder clearance to score the music in the film, they would not give either Jimmy Iovine or MCA Records permission to release Ry Cooder's whole score on their label, which is why only "Hold That Snake" appears on the soundtrack. On the opposite side of this, because Universal owns the name "Streets of Fire," they would not give Warner Bros permission to make reference to the name in their issuance of any of Ry Cooder's score from the film, so Warner has only released one song from it so far on the compilation album that I referenced above, without referencing "Streets of Fire" in the song's title. Since the movie did so poorly at the box office, the powers that be at Warner don't feel like going through a prolonged battle with Universal over using the name, especially when they have other artists on their roster to consider. Many of whom collaborate with Warner's artists all the time. Now, why do I know all of this? I asked Jimmy Iovine. That's why.

HEy great job on the mix. My wife and I have watched this movie together about 25 times!!! Love the film...such great music in it. But one question..the slow blues tune that is played in Riva's diner after the rescue of Ellen Aim just before Ed the police chief walks in...that one is not in your mix...did you just miss it or too difficult to cut out of the film? Alot of noise in that with the rain and the dialogue so just wondering because thats the only song that Ry sings in...great job anyways!!!
Thanks for the compliment on my edit. Yes you're exactly right about that piece. If I remember after editing out dialogue there just wasn't enough music left to include with any continuity. Glad you like the results anyway. This mix seems to have really struck a chord with lots of fans of the movie. I've never listened to the OST but apparently it was incomplete. Plus I think it probably sounds better with the Motorcycle sound effect. Cheers!

8:40 - What is this called and where can I get the full track???
Is there any way to get a high quality version of this music in it's original wav file, or as flac files?
What’s the name of the track starting at 13’46”? Thanks.
Cheers!
Now that I think about it, there were a few section of music I had to edit out due to copyright. That may have been one of them. I definitely remember having to edit out the piece called The Bombers because of copyright.
Ry Cooder should be bigger than Taylor Swift.

Thanks for this but why'd you skip the part when Cody sees Ellen tied up in the room and then starts shooting Bombers?
