I figured it out. If you change your windows account to a local account, on the host machine, it hooks up absolutely no issue. Strange yes? But I have tried it with every laptop, and windows device in the house, and it works seemlessly now across every one, until i change my account back to a microsoft account.

Starting the services manually helped. :)
In my case, the rdp port no of the remote machine was not set to default 3389 , google out how to change the rdp port in registry; Also, you will need to add proper firewall rules if you choose to go with any new Port No.

I wonder if you will comment back to me on this 2 year old video. So, I have 2 windows 10 pro machines. One is an EEEslate with no ethernet, the other is a hp desktop with no wifi. I have been able to connect via remote desktop using a local account I made just to test but I cannot connect via my main account, which negates the point, as I can access all programs yes, but none of my main account save files, and media. I have had absolutely no success connecting with my main account, after doing every one of your suggestions. I've tried other things as well too, but continually get "your credentials didn't work, try again." is there a way to just disable credentials from devices on my home network?

@@MJTube11 so, funny thing. My desktop has a display port and I've got a display port to hdmi. So you know how there's HDMI, and micro HDMI? Did you know there is also a mini HDMI? Really? and I happened to have a micro to standard HDMI, and got excited thinking I could hook it to the tv easily, and finally have a use for that cord. No such luck. Hopef

@@MJTube11 so, I went down the comments to everyone who said that none of the methods worked and shared that fix I figured out. I however forgot to mention that all of the procedures you outline in the video were done beforehand as well. I don't know if it will work without going through the steps in your video first. I thank you so much for making this video on such a rare thing. These things in Windows are what cause people to pull their hair out, and there just aren't that many videos out there, that are actually easy to follow like yours is. I've litaretly watched like 5 videos on this and have don't like 9 fixed and none of them work my screen is still black it also like blinks a little bit when I first open it idk what to do

What about if it's blocked by antivirus?
You might have to disable antivirus or give the remote desktop app special permissions to not flag it
