Im 5mo’s late to this reaction, so forgive me, but this video, this song- and its message most importantly- is the epitome of what hip hop culture should be coming back to over and over. Its that stuff that gets in your soul and puts a lump in your throat. Success defined on your own terms, “that get us out of debt shit, that shit get testy” to quote JID himself. This is what we need more of and why Cole can feel okay to retire. I wish more head in hip hop would get back to the grass roots of making music that gets into your soul and drives you to be on that grind that betters everyone around you.
