No. It is not about quiet hours. It is about the drum being used in African religious ceremonies, and the African religions were banned. That ban was only removed in the 1980s, but the drumming part was never removed so it is continuing discrimination against African practices. However, the law, like most other laws in Trinidad and Tobago is not enforced. Orisa feasts with drumming goes into the night and early morning hours.
"Help to restore" My Afro Trini culture is alive and well. You see it in my Carnival, Afro based religion, foods, folklore and more. Nah he was throwing shade all the time I peeped the as well.

But he missed were influences of the French which was biggest influence, as well as, Chinese who actually brought here before Indians abd Syrian/Lebanon. The, British said,we were using African drums to communicate with each other and plan rebellious hence the reason why African drumming was banned. The steel drum invented in Trinidad and Tobago by Afro Trinidadians.
Law of Drum music after 10pm was a Colonial Law by British it is not enforced although its on the law books. The English feared the beating of drum conveyed messages revolution.

Never watched this video and didn't know about African Trophies
I don't think the law is enforced, we do have a Christian denomination that began in T&T, called Shouter Baptist, their worship involves drum playing and singing. Due to how loud they tend to be, they can be heard very well from very far and they have meetings in the night.
So I can see if they are close to residential areas with more privileged people, this law may be used.

The no drumming law is not enforced. Just something that no one has removed from the books. There are hundreds of bands that play till 3 and 4 in the morning.

I am Trini, there were no such rules in my neighbourhood., our fetes (parties) went from 7pm til dawn, sometimes it ran into the next day, then the next night, music blasting all night and day. Nothing stops at at 10.00 pm, didn't know that rule was on the books, Trinis love to party. No one will make us shut down our music.

Hello, I'm watching your wonderful video. The British feared the beating of drums by the Africans who were forcefully enslaved. The Africans used the drums to communicate with each other and the British feared that they would communicate and conspire to revolt. Then the British banned all drumming and as a result, the Africans started to use bamboo and metal objects to mimic the messages they used to send via the drums. In the nineteen forties the USA had several military bases in Trinidad and the U.S 55 gallon oil barrels were used to export crude oil from Trinidad. One day a Trinidadian worker started banging on the bottom of a discarded oil barrel with a sledge hammer and he realized that he was hearing different notes of song the more concave the bottom of the oil barrel became. That was the birth of the steel drum/steel pan as we know it today. It's the only new musical instrument developed in the 20th Century.

Me being a born trini I haven't see anything about the Indian people nothing about doubles an that is a big Trinidad food dish somehow I feel hurt..
a lot of other videos will dive deeper. I think some people, although right in front of them, don't realize there is a diaspora in huge masses in Trinidad. They see everyone as a west indian. Growing up, telling people that I was half Indian, then telling them my mother was from Trinidad seemed to confuse them. Only now are people paying more attention.

I believe that even though that law is on yhe books i don't think its enforced. As the religious groups that keeps with the African roots they hv drumming after 10. The dance groups also drum during practice especially for events

have various types of people and cultures there . Just to mention a few Africans, Indians, Chinese, Spanish, Syrians, ect, The Indian culture in itself is very big. We even have a China Town in Trinidad. We have the bird sanctuary it is beautiful. And don’t let me start about carnival. It is the greatest show on earth. Th parties starts in January all the way to Ash Wednesday. The week before carnival the Friday is Army fete then Monday a lot of all inclusive parties from Day fetes to boat rides, Tuesday on the rocks with kess the band Wednesday lots of parties but my best one Is lime at the Hyatt hotel. Y’all got the picture. Go on you tube and look up some videos on Trinidad history. I for forget to mention the steel band competition.

Into the culture considering it is so multiculture he didn't talk about the Chinese or the Indians or the syrians. The first time I went there was so much East some you couldn't even tell the difference between whether they would native Indians or if they were the East Indians all-round definitely very blended
Indian came to Trinidad after the abolishment of slavery in 1834. They majority are all descendents of those Indians.
The law against beating drums past 10 p.m. is because shouter baptists would worship late into the night and disturb the neighbors. Just fyi.
African drumming was prohibited because the colonial powers Said we were using the drums to communicate and start rebellions.
