Trinidad probably has the most organised public transport system in the Caribbean due to the long list of traffic fines or penalties you can get for not following the road rules/laws. Great vlog.
Barbados also have a very organised public transportation system

Hi AT,i thoroughly enjoyed the trip with you.Did you noticed how clean the streets are.lovely country .❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Would've had a state of the art rapid rail since 2020 if things went former PM Manning's way...he implemented the water taxi system...
Mr Manning was a visionary. I don't know what this current prime minister is. I have never heard him articulate his vision for Trinidad and Tobago. Maybe he has, but I have never heard it, and his actions does not suggest that he has one.
@earlhenry9770 yep, Manning was the real deal, fed up of the current PM honestly...he's too arrogant and him and his govt are always insulting our intelligence..
Never understood why no one took up the 2020 plan that Mr. Patrick Manning had. Mr. Patrick Manning and Mr. Basdeo Panday are the last real politicians with a real plan.

You did an excellent series of our country 👏 👍 😀 I have never seen anyone do it like this. There are others who do videos but the access to such places a lot of people here would not be able to reach the lovely places or even afford to pay to get to it....your video is great cause you are showing that you don't have to THE tourist to get by..lol. you show the everyday life of getting by. That's great 👍 I hope you do return and do dome history sharing of Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹. So until another time God bless and a safe journey back home 🙏🏼namaste 💐 😚🥰🤗🍻 cheers.
Thank u for your heartfelt comments.
This route was serviced by train, but the trains were pulled off in 1968 and it was made into 'The priority bus route'. Some think that the government should build a metro rail, but that would take away a lot of jobs from the maxi taxi drivers.
why i dont think so the route is sfdo and grande my point it helps the maxi on a peake period nothing moves be my guess try peake period you will cry when you can,t pay the rent and toco also point fortin its a blessing we have the water taxi to sfdo it takes one hour to move 4 million people takes strong minds now we at that place where everything counts
Please note the population of Trinidad is 1.4 million.
Don't believe that is a good reason, we could use a rail service to San Fernando to help move people. Thank you AT❤

Wow! No graffiti on the walls, no loud obnoxious people. Such a chill vibe. Very quiet and peaceful people by nature or DNA 😅
The reason that there is no graffitti, could be that this bus route is backing properties. There is no where to walk. Remember, this was originally the train tracks.
It's not legal to walk on the bus route as if you're strolling to go some where but one or two people try it. I think most Trinis don't even know this @@islandgirl3330

African Tigrsss, I commend you for showing some of the transportation system in Trinidad. What a great idea. Don't forget to show off our beautiful ferry service when you go to Tobago. I have a feeling that you will return to Trinidad and Tobago many times to cover both islands. You are a Trini already. I hope some of the government ministers are watching this video. My observation on my last trip was that there is a bit of neglect in refreshing outside walls and their upkeep on properties. They should have an island wide week campaign dedicated to repainting walls. It does not do justice to the appearance of the place when the walls are left with a lot of grime and unpainted. There could be a week dedicated to that every year, and people could even volunteer to help. It will be a nice way to improve the appearance of the place. Although the walls were backing the properties along the route, they could have them looking cleaner with a coat of paint.
I really enjoy this video and yoy are showing our nation to the world .Thank you every much AT .Also i have been watching you a long time .Great works .
Tigress, you blend in well with the T&T people.

I so enjoyed my trip to T & T although Tobago was more my speed & delight! Trinidad reminded me of any other big city, e.g. New York City. I enjoyed this video. Shalom from the wildes of Amerikkka.
Me saying I enjoy another Tigress video is becoming a cliché. But I do! Looks like a no-sweat operation getting around on the island. I haven't used public commuter transportation in Jamaica but I'll bet this is way easier. Maybe I don't have to rent a car next time I'm in T&T, after all. 😄

Thx 4 yr good work.
I am a Trini-Canadian in Cda. & i miss T&T.
This maxi taxi was travelling on the Priority Bus Route (PBR), which, as you said, allows only mass transit (buses & maxis) & cars with permits.
And from my memory, parallel to the PBR, & sometimes visible, is the Eastern Main Road, which allows all kinds of vehices, including cars.
I appreciate your video. Asante Kenya Tigress...& blessings!

The maxi route in Trinidad 🇹🇹 is close 60 years old or older than the route in Barbados 🇧🇧 so ask yourself where did Barbados got it from because one thing for sure we ain't got it from Barbados.
I enjoy your bloghs. I just realized that you are staying around the corner from me in the East. I just saw you taking a maxi.
The "Piority" only takes up about a little over a 1/3 of the Northern half of the Island of Trinidad from Arima to Port of Spain. From Port of Spain to Chagauramas and from Arima to Toco there isn't any Piroity just normal roads on both sides. So Port of Spain to Arima is 29 km and the furtherst point East to West of the Northern half of the Island is about is a drive of 109km but straight line distance of about 80km.
Thank you that's what I've been trying to explain to her since the last video..😅 she really came from due east etc not East proper..
@@Trinavara You are correct.!!!!Arima by no means is extreme East of Trinidad. That is Galera. Arima is closer to halfway through the extreme points of the Northern half of the Island.
@Tejaye777 yep, a little less than halfway.. 😎
Actually it takes up a little less than a third of the driving road system from East to West of the Northern side of the Island whcih is about 110km and Priority is from Arima to Port of Spain which is 29km. Before I was giving the straight line distance 80km which isn't what you drive. So it is 29km out of a 110km road.
@Tejaye777 Thanks for the great detailed info.. 😎
Really nice video about the PBR. Looking forward to seeing others

I am 48 and half Trinidadian; never been to the country and this is my first journey seeing how public transport is there. It reminds a little of transport in London. I'm surprised they have lanes for buses and cars separate and traffic lights and no bus conductors. Looks very organized. I guess I will have to look for vlogs as this video just popped up to my surprise with the title. Thanks a lot..🥰
You're surprised we have traffic lights?
@@stillirise7813 sounds a little silly right 😅 but I'm pretty sure some places in Africa don't use lights and have traffic conductors. That could be why they've said that 😅

Hi AT enjoy your journey
I went there for the first time 2 years ago and loved it. The maxi taxis are useful but beware who you choose as a driver to other places because they may charge a lot more.
I thought the prices are posted in all taxi as it supposed to be regulated .. Just saying 🤔🤔
It is posted
TIP: Never cross a road in front of a maxi even if the driver stops for you. Most pedestrian involved accidents happened that way.
FUN FACT: Maxis weren't always that quiet. Until the ban around the mid 90s, you could hear music from maxis long before you would see them. In fact, some didn't have backseats, only cushions on speakers! And the fare was $1 TTD!
That Priority used to be the level crossing railway from PoS to Arima until about 1968/1969.

The country needs a proper land transportation system to ease congestion on other roads during peak periods. Too many productive hours are loss in traffic.
Would a modern Railway Network be the solution?

To much politics in our country
It's um very good to see high opening team like there's a more buses. Then people on that road. That's supposed us what you get when you rich with oil that can afford to deploy. Lots and lots.
I'd like to transfer some money from my current account to my savings accident. of buses, whether they are people or not, that's my observation. Yes, it's a good idea about it seemed to be overly populated with buses one every few minutes. There's literally like a train one behind another behind another beyond another, but a nice and clean. It's very good
Maxis are privately owned and tax exempt to purchase. There are also many big Government owned buses that come off this route and go to more specific areas @12:44 Some new ones are actually in the works also..

What is that area @ 17:50 called. Very busy.
Yes it is, it is called Curepe ,it's a conduit to other areas in Central etc due South on the intersecting road . Very busy commercial and residential area..
Curepe
Is the route written or number on bus how do u tell what bus goes where
WRT to the maxi taxis the color of the stripe tells you their route and it's usually point A to point B and you could hop on and off everywhere in between. All those people you see coming off may have to get a car to take them to their final destination or take a walk, kinda like a subway ..The red band you see here are East-West Corridor .
The big Govt buses are more area specific that's why you don't see many on the bus route as they get off and head to more specific areas all over the country . They have the routes/destinations digitally displayed on the fronts etc..there are also luxury coaches that make longer direct runs.
But you will also find maxis of the relevant locale of different color stripes also operating on main roads and highways too between POS and those areas..so for instance if you're in POS and you want to head to Central or anywhere on the way you look for a green band, if you want to head West or anywhere on the way you look for a yellow band, and you'll also find ones that just operate in their local area with their relevant band that don't necessarily come to POS. (Port of Spain) .
It's by color
There is no other direction for the red band maxis. East to Pory of Spain the city only. The Yellow band which you will not see here serves POS to the Western towns. The Green Band Maxis serve the Central areas. The Brown and serve the Southern areas, and the Blue band serves the sister Islands Tobago.
Brown is south san-fernado siparia
