Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee: The Last Meeting Clip 1
The first in a series of clips of the last time Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee met, posted here and shared in features and articles on our various internet platforms. The occasion was the recording of a voice over at a small recording studio in Canterbury, Kent, UK for a documentary about Hammer films, called Flesh and Blood, that was later screened in two parts on the BBC. Part two was broadcast just two days after Peter Cushing's death on Thursday August 11, 1994. We post the clips under the title of 'ONE LAST TIME' ...in part a nod to the cameos that both Cushing and Lee played in a film entitled 'One More Time' as a favour to Hammer fan and friend, Sammy Davis jr. The unedited footage runs at approx one hour. Over the next two years, we will edit clips and share them. We are sensitive to anything within the footage that compromises confidentiality. The footage was shot with both Cushing and Lee's consent. Enjoy this last and rare moment, feel free to leave a comment or click a like, if you feel happy to and please come see us at any of our links below. You will be most welcome!

Who in God's green earth and the devil's deep hell would unlike this video? My god, some people are just plain miserable.
    RIP Peter and Christopher.
I'm still not used to speaking of Sir Christopher as a 'was' or 'used to be'. It's a far more classless world without him. I'm so glad I have the films and a treasure trove of videos like this at my disposal. Thanks so much for uploading this.

I don't think that is aimed at the subject matter, sadly it's more a political and personal slight at me, Steve. This is a rare, very rare recording. I have been offered all kinds of things in return for copies of it... I was trusted with a recording to share here at the Peter Cushing Appreciation Society RUclips CHANNELS... FOR FREE. So Fans of Peter and Christopher Lee could appreciate and see for themselves, the special friendship they shared. But as you can see for yourself. Not all people are friendly, some just don't understand the word, no.

Thanks so much for the reply and for the much needed context (in regard to miserable people unliking the video).
I watch this clip often. It conjures up so many memories of watching Hammer and Amicus as a kid. Peter, Vincent and Christopher were the end of an era. With the passing of Sir Christopher, it has become painfully obvious that there will never again be three actors (let alone one) who will emit the level of class that these 3 men did. I'm not okay with that. It makes me sad. But, this alarming realization does make Vincent, Peter and Chris all the more special. With that said, it makes people like YOU all the more special for making content like this available to the public. It honestly brings tears to my eyes.
For over two years this era has been over. I feel the void more and more each day. I'm glad I have access to their interviews and films. It creates a warnesss in my heart that not much else can.
I'm only 36, but I grew up on these films. Pre-internet...I had accumulated all of their films on VHS by the mid nineties (paying upwards to 200.00 for one out of print video tape). I was a teenage detective hunting down these films without the use of any internet. Lots of reading, researching and long distance calls were involved. One time I even dialled up the telephone directory in London and got every number that was listed under "Christopher Lee". I must say...there was A LOT of Christopher Lee's in London in the 90's. And no...I never did get a hold of THE Christopher Lee (but I did get a hold of many other annoyed and misc Christopher Lee's). When my parents received the phone bill...they were NOT happy. At all. But all I wished to do was to thank Mr. Lee for simply being Christopher Lee. I never had the opportunity to do that, but I'm quite sure he knew how special he was. But, I'm not gonna lie...I was also going to ask if he had any prints of "The Satanic Rites of Dracula" just lying around (it was really hard to find in the 90's)! On account of him despising that film, I doubt he did. But, I was holding out hope that he knew someone who did. I was quite tenacious and ballzy (just ask my parents...they had to pay the phone bill on account of my "tenacity").
Collecting their films (at such a young age) gave me incentive to work and save as much as I could. What kept me going as I worked for 4.25 per hour was envisioning the box art on that elusive vhs copy of Dracula A.D 1972, Legend of the Werewolf, Twins of Evil and SO VERY MANY OTHERS. So many good memories.
I have since owned all of their films on DVD...and now bluray. I will continue to purchase them in whatever form they come out on.
God bless these men and their families and may God bless YOU for making such things available on this channel.
Life is pretty complicated nowadays...but seeing clips such as this sends me back to simpler times. Thank you for that. You just can't put a price tag on that. It always seems the "good ole days" are gone. But when "the good ole days" were in full swing, we didn't know that they would one day be fondly remembered as "the good ole days". Cushing, Lee and Price have always been a major player in my "good ole day's. I hope perhaps in 20 years time I can look back on this very instant and fondly reminisce of how those days were the good ole days. Call me philosophically-melodramatic, but thinking like this has helped me not to disregard the present as insignificant and take it for granted. Seeing this clip has served as a time capsule to my childhood. It has helped me to appreciate the now by seeing the profundity of the past.
      God bless you.

This reminds me of an interview I read with Carrie Fisher. She said it was very difficult to do her scenes with Peter Cushing because she was supposed to pretend she hated him, but because he was the kindest, sweetest old man she'd ever met it was hard to stay in character.

It just goes to show time is more generous to some of us. If there was any justice, both of them would be granted youth until 150. RIP to both these great inspirations.

Sir Christopher was momentarily taken aback when he saw Peter's appearance but immediately composed himself and kept Peter in hysterics throughout the session.
After it was over and Peter went home, Sir Christopher's mood changed and he was very curt and heartsick.

He said in an interview that not only was he taken aback by Peter's appearance, but also very upset, especially after they had a picture taken together; he said Peter felt so fragile when he had his arm around him, and he looked so small next to him despite the fact that he was a six footer.

Wonderful clip. I once had the pleasure of having lunch with Mr. Lee. I had read his biography, where he mentioned that he and Cushing were both Warner Bros. cartoon fans, and would often call each other and talk in the voices of the Warner Bros. characters. I said to him, "With your deep voice, I can't imagine you doing a Warner Bros. character," and without missing a beat, he roared out a flawless Yosemite Sam: "Great suffering succotash!"

Kain Nosgoth Yes, it was the same here in the UK, to some extent. The broadcasting of some of Cushing's and Lee's finest on Saturday nights in 'double Bills' was a stroke of genius by someone at the BBC. Because for several years it introduced a whole new generation to their work, who would have missed the films on their original cinema runs in the 50's, 60's and early 70's. Only today, the BBC are broadcasting three Classic Lee Hammer films as a tribute to him, since his passing recently and a documentary entitled 'Christopher Lee ; Talking Films' ....it's such a shame, as with Cushing, that it has been the sad passing of Lee that has promoted such a celebration....still we must be grateful. As to the screening and it's reception today, look in at our uk peter cushing facebook fan page for details! - Best Marcus

m brooks So you guys had the Saturday night horror movie too? Awesome! For some reason, Friday and Saturday night seemed to be the time for horror movies.
Of course, there were other horror movies from Britain that played in America, like "The Blood On Satan's Claw" and "Lust For A Vampire" to name a few. But when Lee's Dracula came on, that's when the fun really began!
As a young man in the 70's I also remember Mr. Cushing having quite a time himself, in movies like "At The Earth's Core" where he played an extremely eccentric scientist who was just wonderful to watch.
I don't have Facebook but I'm seriously thinking of getting it just for the Peter Cushing page. Thanks for the invite!

You can tell how Ill poor Peter was here, cancer treatment was pretty rough in 94 (not that it isn’t today) it’s clearly taken so much out of him. After the death of his wife Peter lost interest in life to a degree, but still always had a smile on his face. I really hope he found her again, and I hope Christopher is there now too, telling their stories together.

I miss Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Both men were simply class actors . Cushing was one of my favourite actors. Hound of the Baskervilles is simply one of the greatest films of all time. I can never get bored watching this masterpiece. Cushing's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes is probably the finest in history. Both these men will be never forgotten. I wpuld like to hear other peoples thoughts?

    • @williamtaylor9966
      @williamtaylor9966 Месяц назад

I too love his portrayal of Holmes in HotBs. But I would contend that their finest partnership on screen together, was the final meeting of Van Helsing and Dracula (Cushing and Lee) in Dracula (1958 - or ‘Horror of Dracula’ in USA). The chase scene with Helsing jumping to pull down the drapes to let daylight in and Dracula’s ‘disintegration’, is still an unrivalled masterpiece of filmmaking, imo.

This is the most heart-warming and beautiful video ever. Two of my favorite actors in the world together laughing and having a great time. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing played mortal enemies onscreen, but in real life were the best of friends and loved each other like brothers. I grew up watching their movies and have been a fan of theirs for decades. How I wish I had a chance to meet them and tell them how much I love their movies. These gentleman always played their characters with such class and elegance. I'm sad they are gone. My consolation is at least they are together again. God bless and rest in peace Mr. Cushing and Mr. Lee. ❤❤❤❤

When Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee walked among us they were giants in statue and in chivalry. The world that made them is gone forever and we shall never see their like again. Fortunately they did much for film that we can still appreciate but I can't help but lament for not having more of them both on and off screen in situations and roles that not only showed their friendship but also their chemistry when acting alongside each other. They did Van Helsing and Dracula brilliantly, but they were so much more and better than that too.

I think you are absolutely right, Eric. According to Peter, who says as much during one of these clips. He would laugh so much, he would have to go and have another bath after the call! True friends.. and they seemed to have so much 'short hand' winks and references to jokes and things they knew all about together. Thank you for watching and taking time to comment, Eric. Take care - Marcus (pcasuk)
