- How much RAM do you need in Star Citizen? Today I am finally testing 32GB vs 64GB! Is 64GB actually needed, or is it a complete waste of money?

How much ram do you all have in your PC's?
64 but totally useless in actual gaming scene (SC included)
Great vid as always :D
64 and it’s necessary.
64 But I use the same pc for both gaming and doing work that needs the extra ram.
32gb and I've had 32 for 8 years. It's time for 64, not just SC I've noticed you have to close background programs
64 GB
I run 64 GB and often play with several friends who run 32 GB, plus another two or three who also have 64. One area of consistent, replicatable difference we HAVE discovered is when we all play together at distribution centers. All of us get stutters at these places. But the 32GB users seem to consistiently get far more.
Once CIG figures out how to optimize this game, it’ll be incredible. A start would be making the “Low/Medium/High/Very High quality setting actually do something.
Something that you didn't comment on is that memory usage for the game goes up and down as the developers are working on the game. For a long time, I had 32GB installed and everything was fine. I stopped monitoring memory usage until I noticed my game performance had gotten bad. When I reviewed, memory usage had soared above 32GB. Memory usage creeps up from live build to live build until they finally do an optimization pass and it settles back down. On 3.23 live, I found my system was using all 32GB of available memory. The Star Citizen executable itself was consuming almost all of it and the system was using the rest. In this case, you could close other applications all day long and it would change nothing, so I decided to upgrade. It's easy for me to diagnose this condition as I spent my career working in IT. The cost of memory is reasonable, and it enables me peace of mind. Could you wait and suffer until performance improves? Sure, but I don't want to. For me, it's more important to have headroom during development in order to accommodate the development cycles. That being said, when 3.24 went to PTU I noticed the developers had done a memory optimization pass and memory usage had returned to something more reasonable.
But I would also add, that 3.24 performs better to me than any previous builds that I remember.
That's sort of the same boat I'm in. I can afford to upgrade so I did (still waiting on a mobo replacement as the one I bought was DOA) but essentially, if I can get more performance out of it while waiting for optimisation passes, I figure... why not?
Observed the same thing, now i have the explanation as well, thanks. 3.23 was really running on the edge with the game often pushing up to 29GB or even close to 30, and the corresponding performance drops / stutters. Since 3.24 it‘s back down in the 25-27GB range, so the system still has plenty room to breathe.
Facts.
Thank you man! I need this! Yet again you saved me money while having the items already in the shopping basket!
Happy to help!
Thank you for doing this! I had to upgrade from 32 to 64 because I was constantly receiving out of memory errors and was crashing to the desktop too often. I haven't had any CTDs due to memory since.
Does it even matter though? We can just download ram
That is a very good point!
Did this joke go over my head?
For those who’s considering an upgrade to 64gb. Study the manual for the motherboard carefully before investing as not all motherboards are able to run 64gb at full speed.
Or CPUs.
Or 4 RAM sticks.
i still don't like hitting the SSD anymore than i should. so good to know. thanks!
Please test overclocked RAM.
32GB and maybe 64GB. Standard JEDEC Speed at 5200MT/s.
OC at 6000MT/s with lower CAS latency.
And a highly tuned version. 6000/6400 MT/s with low Secondary/Tertiary timings, especially the tRFC, which bring a great performance boost in SC.
Most people don't tune secondary and tertiary, just the main timings and miss out on a ton of performance.
Of course you need better and more expensive RAM for this. But then you can also check for the price/performance ratio. Good 32GB vs normal 64GB RAM and 48GB in between, for the same price.
Got any up-to-date guides for tuning RAM?
single rank ram sticks and duel rank ram sticks also make a big difference on performance
Appreciate all the work you do. This video certainly goes into how well 32 vs 64 performs when running through Lorville. I have been finding that as my Star Citizen sessions go in it starts eating more and more ram. Maybe that is because I have 64 so it's keeping things stored while there is still space and with 32gbs it would simple release as needed.
remember single rank ram and duel rank ram can make a huge difference of performance. be mindful when you buy
This was a very interesting video. I've always thought that I should go for a 64GB Ram setup, rather than the 32GB I have now. Your channel saved me some money, for once! It's a nice change from always tempting me into buying more hardware!
Very happy to help you resist!
Thanks again for another informative test!
No problem!
Looking forward to this test on the 1.0 of Star Citizen.
Me too! Hopefully it won't be too far away!
PCIE 25 and DDR27 will be out by then together with diamond storage so it'll be like comparing apples and pears.
Well, it's a fact that I had more than 32 GB of RAM utilized when I was at Orison. And usually, you have open anyway at least Discord and some background services and apps.
Ya with my OBS open and Discord streaming in Town im WAY over 32GB, i have to put my OBS in performance mode to even stream SC and have Dsicord runing or my OBS crashes.. a few friends of my have 64 and are hitting 45-50GB with all the same stuff open and runing. Im sure it a mix of PC/Game but it never hurts to upgrade to 64 if you do more then just play SC.
FPS in star Citizen is not something I noticed as it's so dependent on the game and where you are, Stuttering is much improved when I upgraded my 32GB to 96, things like coming in and out of QT into planets. With Tobii eye track software and discord and OBS I'm using around 45GB all the time. I used to think the stuttering , whilst not terrible was just StarCitizen and there's nothing I could do about it.
Saved me some money on my upcoming trip to microcenter this evening, cheers!
lol, and then there's me... two firefox windows with between 10 and 20 tabs open on average, chrome with 20-25 tabs, at least one, if not as many as three instances of visual studio code, discord, teams, plex, betterbird, game launchers, and a smattering of system utilities running. When it came time to build my new machine, I didn't even hesitate on 64 gig... Heck, I considered 128, but that would have meant running 4 sticks.
Of course, I've always been in the "rather have too much than not enough" camp when it comes to ram. When I built my i7 6700 machine back in 2016 I put 32GB in it, and the FX8350 before that in 2012 had 16GB...
Oh, and I turn off tab discarding for most things in chrome, because I can't have pages reloading at unexpected times.
That is a lot of stuff going on! Do you ever get close to using 64GB?
@@tenpoundfortytwo Sitting, just with youtube running while working I'm sitting at 43gb available. When playing SC I'm sure that probably gets cut in half.
I can't think of any time since building this machine that I've had it behave like it's running out of memory, though a big part of why I switched to firefox for personal use (I use chrome for work) is because of it's awful memory performance, especially with RUclips... ironically...
@@tenpoundfortytwo Though, to be honest, I've not actually played SC in quite a while to know for sure, lol
@@FlesHBoX
Similar scenario for me. I just upgradeed to 64GB RAM and I'm sitting on 46% memory usage right now. I'm not goign to even try to count the number of tabs I have open.
Great that you did the 32 vs 64GB comparison.
Thanks! Long overdue!
Thanks for the test. Happy with the conclusion. Wallet closed!
I've seen too many people in game chat boast about how much more performance they gained because of having 128 GB. Thanks for confirming what most of us already knew 😁
Erkul with a white background? You savage! :-)
64GB won't give you a performance boost, but rather a quality of life increase in stability. As someone with 32GB who (including many in our group) suffered CTD's after a few hours of play or clipping through the ground and noticeable stutters at times. Everyone who suffered problems like these later changed to 64GB and many of these problems disappeared for became very infrequent.
Of course no two systems are the same and some people will be running 32GB and not suffer these problems. I would just recommend going 64GB if you constantly suffer the issues above with SC.
true
I play star citizen and love it. I'm playing on a gameing laptop. It's a i9 with only 12gig and it runs perfect with no problems.
I'd say 24*2 gb kit of Hynix M-die. It's easy to overclock and have a decent price/capacity ratio. 48 gb is very well adequate for any user mainly gaming and some light productivity workload.
This would be my choice as well, always have a bit more that the typical high-end when getting a new system.
I think 24*2 is the optimum in the DDR5 era for this.
Thanks for posting. I clicked this so fast when I saw it in my feed. I was just researching this topic last week, but instead of having idle chrome tabs and launchers in the background, I have OBS streaming the game @ 1080p60. 5800x3D + RTX 3080 setup with 32GB DDR4 3333MHz. Im running “btop” in a terminal to measure my CPU/GPU/RAM use during the stream - I can see RAM usage goes all the way to max, and my GPU is pegged, so in OBS I switched it to x264 encoding. I can tell I’m hitting swap because my SSD is starting to page.
Ultimate question is, “is Star Citizen the first game that requires a dual PC setup for streaming or can I make adjustments to stay on a single PC?” Until then, I’m saving up for a AM5 build.
Since the release of DDR5 I've always advocated for a 2x24GB DDR5 RAM setup, No games a limit and one can still use the PC for personal home projects like working, streaming, editing, and hosting servers etc.. It's just the sweet spot for a home personal rig + extra techie-hobbies :)
But I absolutely always advocate to any one that 2x16 is moooore than enough for the absolute majority, even if you run self projects and what naught ;)
What i can say is when i went 64 gb instead of 32 gb my star citizen has much less freezes (slutters) and volumetric clouds is set on maximum since that change.
I have a sign near my house saying road work will be complete in Winter of 2028...😮 ....
Starting to feel this way about SC 😊
I do updated and verify files every time I log in. The entire game seams smoother since I got 1 gig Fiber a few days ago.
Ooh fibre is a nice upgrade! Let's hope the game is in much better place in 2028!
I do wonder how many people have problems because their upload and download speeds are too low or have a congested router.
@@The_Opinion_of_Matt I've been stuck with a 2/25 for 6 years while the other side of the street has had it.
Every one praises it for the almost instantly downloaded games. But my entire house runs better, Alexa and Siri are super fast in response,
No buffering not even a flinch on Netflix or Paramount+
Everything seems instantaneous.
I think it's $80 a month for 1 gig and 60 bucks for 500/500
@@jimashby43 Alexa devices will talk thru the network connection of other Alexa devices if they don't have a good enough network connection. So your Alexa devices could be connecting through your neighbor's internet. Yes, that is a thing.
Siri could be going through mobile connection instead of wifi, but I don't have anyway to determine that. If you care you could turn off the mobile data and see what happens.
Also, the FTC under Biden increased the speeds of what is legally "broadband". I think they were 25/10, now they are 100/25. I suggest testing what you actually have. When the change was made my internet provider automatically bumped us up from 60/60 to 100/100 and didn't even tell us. But then we have a municipal internet provider and pay $40 a month.
How is this at all relevant to the video? Lmao
When they introduced distribution centers is when I ran into Ram issues. I upgraded to 64GB and it fixed it for me. You need to rerun this at distrro centers.
When you turn off windows ram compression windows OS can take up to 20GB of ram. And you can turn off the win pagefile and run SC with 64 GB. There is a big big big FPS difference with 64GB. I run 64GB with SC with no NONE pagefiie and no ram compression turn on. There a lot of thing you can do to the MB and speed up SC.
Very interesting, thanks ! We need someone to do this for Flight Sim 2020 and the soon to be released Flight Sim 2024... Just saying ;)
I like to have a lot of stuff open, 4 different browsers, maybe Davinci Resolve, maybe a DAW, I don't have to worry about closing stuff to jump into SC with 64GB.
Yep that's a good use case for 64GB!
With discord and while on a call, the memory time outs are unreal at 32GB. I tried turning off the SSD page file I started crashing like crazy. SC has massive memory leaks.
At 2k or 4k what are the difference between 16,32 and 64 GB of ram?
Running at 4k, I had to upgrade to 64GB of ram to do anything. It was the only deciding factor. 4k = 64GB, anything lower doesn't need it
I went with 2x48Gb sticks, and I have not regretted that choice even once.
On the other hand I currently have 60+ tabs open i chrome and those tabs take 18.5Gb of memory, so I kind of need that extra memory really :)
Ya im in the same boat.. 32 is just not good for streaming SC when i have OBS/Discord/and like 10+ tabs of Chrome open -_-
Until about a year ago, I had constant out-of-memory crashes with 32 GB, because I limited my swap space in Windows. Fixed the crashes by going to automatic swap, but then I had occasional short lags, because SC used up 48 GB of memory and swapping is slow even on an NVME SSD. After upgrading to 64 GB all was good.
That said, since a few months, I haven't seen SC using up more than maybe 24 GB (but I haven't monitored that regularly), so they seem to have fixed some memory issues and 32 GB could just be fine.
This is memory usage, but i would also love to understand the impact of the frequency. You used CL30 6GHz RAM sticks as recommended sweet spot for your AMD CPU. But the upcoming Intel Arrow Lake will support 10GHz RAM. You have no problem going over 8GHz with 32GB and 48GB kits, but the 64GB kit is severely limited. I was thinking about biting the bullet and go for 64GB CL32 6800MHz kit, but your test shows that i will really not need that much mem anytime soon and i better go with the much faster 48 GB kit. Thanks a LOT for the comparison, mate. I know you are not a professional hardware reviewer, makes the effort all the more appreciated.
I've been considering going from 32GB to 64GB.
Here is why. I currently have a R9 7900X paired with 32GB of Gskill DDR5-6000 CL36 installed into a ASUS TUF Gaming X670E - Plus Wifi. Windows and the game are both installed on a 2TB WD Black SN850X Gen4x4 NVME SSD. GPU is a Sapphire Pulse RX6800 (non-XT). Everything is powered by a 850W power supply. My monitor is a LG 3440x1440. I run the game at native resolution because when I've tried upscaling it screws with the ASOP terminals when I access them.
I also usually turn on MSI Afterburner so that the GPU fans ramp up more aggressively and because running MSI Afterburner I can display hardware stats in the little LCD screen on my Logitech G13. And these stats are what have me considering upgrading as this display appears to show my system is using 27GB of RAM, but is reserving 48GB or RAM for usage.
I don't really have any performance issues in SC though, at least not when running Vulkan. When 3.24 dropped I forgot to switch it back to Vulkan and I had significant stutters and frame drops when using DX113D. Those stutters and frame drops disappeared when I switched to Vulkan. I think I ran Vulkan for all of 3.23. I don't remember if I switched over in 3.22.
It's tricky, it's not a massive boost of performance. But I suppose once you got 64GB you can just forget about it!
@@tenpoundfortytwo Yep. My thoughts exactly. I have other things to spend money on in the meantime. Like digital space ships or tobii eye tracker or dual joysticks... although I expect 64GB would make sense if I plan on getting tobii or dual joysticks.
Ever so glad I did the 32gb up as my gaming laptop runs generally better when this super game is running. At 16gb, so many struggles.
Before I watch this, I am going to guess that there is little to no difference. However, ram speed can make a big difference.
yep, that sounds spot on, man. I tell people if you are only gaming just do the 32 GBs of ram now and spend the extra money on more video card or CPU. And in a few years add in a few stick and bump up to 64.
I might have missed it, but did you test with EXPO on?
Given the known limitations / weakness of the memory controller in current Zen 4 and Zen 5 AMD CPUs, would you consider running same tests for intel CPU and XMP at 6000MHz, say 12700/12900, or, if you feel lucky, a 13th / 14th gen Intel part?
Would be interesting to see if there is any difference.
I saw massive improvement in frametime consistency on my Z370/8700k system going from 32GB to 64GB of DDR4 a few years ago. Maybe not an issue anymore between DDR5 and the engine improvements? I dunno... Gotta say it's been pretty funny running an older system for so long and watching it struggle more and more with new games, but constantly get better and better at running SC lol.
Improving my ram timing massively improved my fps by 20-30 fps from default timing
i have 32 and i play on low, i generally only keep discord and spotify open in the background star citizen open with them consistently keeps me almost maxed out lol
@tenpoundfortytwo Perhaps I can suggest another scenario to test. Test 2 systems, each with 32GB of memory, but with different memory timings/speeds. I would like to know if memory speeds make a significant impact to performance.
This one should help! ruclips.net/video/S2hv1UIAjWg/видео.htmlsi=B5CYN9estOdI1FIn
And this one for ddr4: ruclips.net/video/AN_Jg1b0fmQ/видео.html
Found this on reddit, can you make a video about it?
One of the common problems with Elden Ring is that Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) causes high frametime variability and it reduces mean FPS by a lot too, and it does so even on high-end hardware. EAC can be disabled through going single-player or other means, and when it's turned off, the game becomes a lot smoother.
Knowing this, I wondered if the reason I get so much lag in Star Citizen's cities was due to the same thing. So (without endorsing turning off EAC) I checked.
Walking to the tram in Area18 from my spawn bedroom, I averaged 43 FPS. Not unplayable but not good either, and definitely not something I would want to expose friends to on a first pass at the game. After turning off EAC, my average FPS attempting the exact same run rose to 70 and it both was and felt a lot less variable.
EAC impacts a lot of games just like this, and it doesn't really offer much protection against hacking anyway, especially since it's so easy to disable (there are lots of guides online; I won't link them). So, when can we finally get a better anti-cheat than EAC?
Nowadays, 32 is not a lot anymore. It's funny, cause not too long ago (10 years ish), 8 GB was a lot.
Yeah things have moved pretty quickly. 16GB seemed like a crazy amount not that long ago!
👍🏻A thumbs up for Linux 🐧 users. I have tested Linux gaming myself, somehow lot of games including some resource intensive titles like Star Citizen, MSFS 2020 e.t.c. are better in term of loading/stuttering on Linux.
Reason, Windows Defender.
How, whenever user or system try to read/write to drive defender actively start monitoring files.
Maybe whatever is being transfer between dive and ram is being passed through defender or maybe defender also read whatever is being transfer between drive and ram, causing system overhead.
I myself have noticed defender actively reading drive in the background, even if i was not doing much in the system.
I think the big difference in 32gb vs 64gb is for those people who multitask with multiple monitors. I have 64gb and usually when I'm playing SC I have a few other programs running in the background on top of a browser with multiple tabs.
I had 16 when MT first went live and would CTD every single time B4 I could get to hanger. Picked up another kit for 32 and fixed it till a year ago. SC started causing a huge mem leak and would slowly creep up to 31gb standing still( had a 10g Pagefile also). I finally just bought 64 to stop it all. But never saw any fps diff worth noting but I never CTD from mem leaks anymore
Went with 64gb when I built my 7800X3D am5 build earlier this year.
32. 64 is a bit nicer of course, but not really needed
I would double check the timings with zen timings as i was expecting a 2-3% improvement as Ryzen benefits from more RANKs [that is sides of memory chips]
I know the point of the channel is out of the box and to that end would it be possible to either see zentimings of each kit you use in a video or for the timings to be made identical or near identical
Because 6000 CL30 and another different kit of 6000 CL30 could be 30-36-36-76 vs 30-40-40-96
The timings affect the number of things it can do in the same amount of time as they are the number of cycles required to do a thing
Edit: there is also the issue of the DD timings as motherboards may set them too high causing a delay between accessing 1 side of the stick and the other which would negate the benefit of having 2 ranks per stick to access one after the other while one rank is busy the other gets used
Good point should've mentioned that they were both 30-36-36-76 kits!
@@tenpoundfortytwomade an edit to the comment saying the lack of difference could come down to the motherboard DD timings the dual rank timings that determ the amount of time to wait between accessing 1 side them the other
Its like 8-8 and 15-15 that they should be but seen motherboard set them to as high as 16-16 and 32-32 doubling the time between rank switching
I have 32 Go of G-skill double channel CAS 14-14-14-34 RAM at 3600 Mhz.
And it runs fine.
Have you considerd running the tests under 1440p or even 4k..considering your using high end parts but running at a low end resolution, its very odd.
Good to know, because i went from 1080 to 4070ti and some city places get 2-3 more fps only , lol, but i get there are poor unoptimazed areas and server speed, but "mainly" my 7 years old mobo 😁
[Question] Do you need to set up a suitable Page File AS WELL as having the requisite amount of RAM?
I've found that you need to make it larger with 16GB, but with 32GB I've always just left it to windows to handle.
I noticed my frequently plagued bugs stopped after getting 64g from 32, Cant prove it but it seems like it.
Would be interesring if a 1440p resolution will benefit from 64gb with some programs in the background open.
I have seen first hand that 4k benefits from 64gb of ram (for whatever reason since resolution should normally only affect vram usage) so it would be interesting if the same thing benefits 1440p
Can we get a streaming test? I want to stream SC but I have 32 gigs and game gets really framey for stream
I've noticed a cap to ram usage in the lasts patch (3.2 to now) . Not sure if is a game set or a fault in my hardware. But with 64 GB installed and checked not in game, in the "display info 3" in the game was recognized only 20 and I sit on 18-19 usage of them. Ah and last patch hate my gtx 1060 6gb, vram usage 5.7gb last night, constantly red value.
I recently chose... Both!
Not ideal but I have a two 32gb Sticks and two 16gb sticks.
I have 128, but SC never breaks 34 committed.
Great info, thanks!
I just recently got a new pc and got 64GB.
Everyone said it was overkill but im hoping its future proof that'll I'll never need to upgrade
Interesting. But I already thought that depending on the game, each application takes as much as it needs in your example it is 32GB committed 22GB working space and the more you have, the more the game can take before it has to use the page file, which is why it is always used regardless of whether it is 32GB or 64GB because it is there and it is used. But of course 64GB is better. I think you can also install 128GB and even that will be fully utilised.
My friend has a ryzen 3500x with gtx 1660 super and 16gb ram. Minimally, what does he need to upgrade to be able to play Star Citizen?
I like my programs on the 2nd screen so I got 64 GB just to make sure. Don't want to rely on a page file
Can you please test it with Virtual Memory in Windows disabled?
I want to know if 64 GB RAM is enough to run the system without swapping files to the drive and with Discord, OBS Studio and browser open.
I am Having serious issues due to using only 32GB. Performance stalling stutter due to going over 32GB in use by SC. Using a monitoring program and played a Remove hostile force Mission on Microtech at Distribution site. I saw that SC used 33.63GB and the stuttering was immense. Just ordered new set of RAM to extend what I have to 64GB. I am at around 6000MB in usage before activating SC.
You mean your background RAM usage is 6gb before starting the game ?
Next video: Star Citizen on RamDisk xD
How is 2x vs 4x rams, any performance loss there?
I feel like when i play 64 gig gives a few percent better fps in longer sessions.
Im not sure if its the ram size or cpu or ssd upgraded i did a few years back made me fall through planet floors 90% less.
Can you check VRAM 8GB versus 12GB versus 16GB/24GB?
Hey, tricky to do as there isn't a card with variants of all of those vram sizes. There are some nvidia cards with 8GB/16GB cards (4060ti) that I could test as some stage to see if SC performs differently.
Here is the last look at VRAM that I did (things haven't drastically changed since then): ruclips.net/video/QyCJUmT0_7M/видео.html
Hello, great video btw just wanted to know if 128GB ram is also good because as of the current moment yes 64GB does sound nice but I kind of want that huge leap so that I can stay there for a few years, Let me know your thought on 128gb compared to 64gb since if you could do a video on that, it be great but if you comment as well that be awesome, great video once again!
Damn, this video drops one week after I upgraded from 32GB to 64GB ram haha
32gb on AMD RX 5600XT 6gb i was geting out of memory blue screen....
Out of VRAM or RAM?
I found 64 GB of RAM for ddr4 irons out the stuttering pretty well
OS is usually at about 10Gb. Then Star Citizen is another 20Gb+. You need at least 64Gb to be stable.
I just switched to DDr5 platform and had a micro battle between 32 n 64 and picked 32 cuz my current system runs just fine with 32. I can get more later if needed, hope not. 😂
Yeah its a good point- it's the easiest thing to update in a pc!
as the red blooded American i am, nothing is ever enough
thx for testing hardware so I don't have too.
No problem!
he way this game eats hardware is kinda nuts, even more so how people are ok with it heck any other dev's would get blasted for not being optimized.
Next year video « how much you realy Need ? » 64 vs 128 gb ☠️ XD
In moment i have 32GB RAM, but i will upgrade to 64GB. Not only for SC, for MS FS2024 too.
Just built a new computer and I went with 64, just for future proofing
Can you do this test again with real resolution pls ?:) no one would ever play 1080p with a 7800x3d and 4080, more like 1440p and 4k same test pls thx mate :)❤
By the time 64gb will start to make a big difference compared to 32gb, I'm pretty sure your entire pc will be outdated and struggling anyway. Just get 32gb for now and spend more on GPU and CPU. They will have a much bigger impact on your performance than 64gb of RAM will.
SC eating infinite RAM ain't my PC's fault.
Been noticing 30gb+ usage just with discord and background apps like icue, ill be going 64 next time for sure
I have 16, and it works (kinda).
Yeah I should've said that 16 does work, it's just that 32GB is much smoother!
@@tenpoundfortytwo agree, I definetly need to upgrade my laptop. Playing and recording would be much better experence.
Consider 2x24gb.
I would buy 64GB if it meant I could fly the old flight model and remove that awful new HUD
even with just SC open and standard processes from windows on my legion lappy w/ a 4090 and 64gb ram... task manager shows 33-36gb ram used
I just want to build a PC, maybe I want to get 64 GB RAM
I did 64 so I don't have to care about most apps in the background.
The game is not anywhere close to optimized yet.Something that really needs to go into thought. This wont happen until they are further a long with basic stuff. Not saying they wont optimize things here and there but a lot changes right now so its not consistent enough to justify the thought for me. If your at 32 gb then stay there for now.
i went from 32gigs to 64g with my pc. no difference, runs the same
I run 16gb on myp pc for stair citizen.
If building a new mid-high tier system for 1440p+ gaming with AM5 and think of doing some modding its 64 GB no matter what. A: Considering you use the socket for 5 years adding another 100 € of RAM for having 64GB is laughable over the timeframe B: You wont need to upgrade RAM till end of lifecycle of the socket C: Starfield Creation Kit will use it 😂 for real D: You can have tons of stuff open and not suffer stutters E: Apps get bigger and more RAM hungry over the years
