@@DerrikRockne I just practiced the song some more and noticed something: Isn't it a Bsus4 instead of a B chord? The chord tab shown in the video is correct but the label is off I think. Or am I missing something?
The “weird” fingerpicked chord is just the top portion of the full G shape. So with the capo it’s 6th string C note 8th fret (which is the root note of the G shape), 5th string E note 7th fret, 4th string 5th fret G note. If you know what the full G shape looks like (Google it if you don’t) it’s simply the top portion of the G shape moved up to the 8th fret which is a C chord using the G shape where the root is normally on the E string 3rd fret. You don’t see it a lot for the same reason you don’t see the full C shape very often it’s a pain in the ass to play the full shape outside of open position. He puts his pinky down on the 5th string 8th fret F note after fingerpicking the 3 strings on the C chord as well. Why fingerpick a C chord when he’s playing a B chord when he’s strumming though? Because he’s not playing a B chord he’s playing a C due to the capo being on the first fret making the actual chord progression Bflat-F-C. Without the capo it’s your typical A-E-B progression and with the capo he’s using those shapes but it is a Bflat-F-C progression in reality. TLDR: The weird fingerpicked chord is just a G shape moved up to the 8th fret 6th string rather than the typical 3rd fret 6th string G note making it the C chord you need. Fingerpick the top 3 bass strings the same as the previous 2 chords shown in the video and add the F note on the 5th string 8th fret after fingerpicking it normal the first.
