35:52 this is why I think "is this Warhammer?" is the wrong question to ask. It fundamentally seeks for the wrong objective," is this thematic?" Is much better. Beastmen shouldn't be punished for small scattered raiding units, just as much as Brets shouldn't be punished for Cavelry, if heavy infantry was broken would you punish WoC for having WoC in their list?
Agree that it's the wrong question. After all any type of Warhammer is still Warhammer, including finely tuned competitive stuff. Not sure that Beastmen list is particularly thematic or really a 'proper army' though - how many Beastmen are there? maybe 14 and zero Minotaurs? I definitely think that some of what are now fairly standard Bret lists (at least the ones with only one unit of peg knights) still look like proper Bretonnian armies. Whether they play like one or not may be another matter as it seems the characters and pegs now do all the work and the knights are just there for show. Not the players' fault of course. Same goes for Wood Elves - their lists tend to look quite thematic at least if they're not running loads of Battle Magic, but the rules have been written in such a way that they make their playstyle really good in the first place as long as they don't try to do something they're not well suited to.
I think you can swing the question any direction. Is it warhammer can also include consideration for the game being a social interaction itself too. So I think you can punish people for bringing the really hard stuff to the dad’s day out event. Definitely a spectrum, but that’s why i enjoyed it. Not just the typical list review video for sure. Some will go theme, some will go softness, I’m even sure Chaos Dwarves auto get a higher score just from their history of big hats 😂
You guys make some very good strategy videos and videos on gaming rules on how they work and play. Yet. All the bitching I hear about peg knights for instance yet no one has made a vid or talked about how to deal with them ?!? Dragons yes. Peg knights ? And the green knight no.!? Come on. This is creating a bit of bad meta for us dirty casual players. We all Arnt tournament players ya know. But we ALL love Warhammer.
I think that’s the problem… there’s not a clear way to deal with them outside of run away and kill them before they kill you. Especially when there’s 9 of them, some with vanguard for a turn 1 charge. The 19inch 360 charge range is extremely restricting. I have no problem with people playing them if their focus to win tournaments - rather, it’s the way you should play Bretonnia. The point was just that it’s not necessarily very ‘warhammer’ - it’s not something your opponent is going to want to play against and might not really make sense thematically. Dragons imo are easier to play around (not necessarily beat) because of their restrictions around charge arcs. I’ll see if I can think of a Pegasus tactic for a video.
I agree with you sort of. There are always threats in Warhammer. Flying cavalry SHOULD be a major threat. My concern overall is just that if people want a real midieval “ rank and flank “ game they should play historical. You can’t have flying monsters and spells and things and have everything be all neat and tidy. And sadly people DONT want realistic. But I think there are ways to deal with everything. Whether people want to take the time is different story. BAN THE GREEN KNIGHT… is allot easier to do than actually plan on dealing with him. I love what you guys gave to say and I really hate to criticize but I don’t like pigeon holing what is Warhammer and what isn’t. Warhammer has always been a weird Wild West kinda game. I think that’s why it’s still resonates. Let’s keep it wild and free. Again. Love you guys. Cheers.
@@JeffG-n8p banning the green knight or peg knights isn't the right way of dealing with them - but when they are clearly badly written (with the GK having 50% chance to come back even if you killed him being probably the biggest problem about him; as for peg knights - monstrous flying cavalry should not have Skirmish trait, that would make them much more bearable) it's no wonder that people find them unfun to play against and would rather ban them, because it's really hard to get others to agree to house rule stuff like what I wrote in parentheses above.

Can't wait to see what happens! (And even from America, I'm a huge fan of the Australian O&G army :)
