That play with the double crosser where Fred steps in front of it, because he has a 3rd eye, then he takes away the dump off to Lamb, then goes for Dak and gets the sack might be the single greatest rep I've seen by a LB. How do you even begin to teach someone that?
Thanks for the great spotlight!!! He's already on the 49ers Mt. Rushmore of linebackers (Willis, Bowman, Wilcox, Warner to me), and might be the best of the best when his career is over!!!! Cheers!!!
No lie i think he's the greatest cover linebacker that we seen especially that play 2 years ago and he's running up the seams stride for stride with a wide receiver the dude is special
Whats crazy to think is that had Ruben Foster not gone off the rails, Fred may not have seen so many snaps right away. Either that, or had Ruben panned out like we all expected, the 49ers coulda genuinely had a defense that just never allowed literally anything to happen between the hashmarks. Which is no slight to Greenlaw and the various other guys in that spot. It just coulda been literally 2 Fred Warners on the field and that is insane to think about
Funny that I commented on your Micah video that to me Fred was the best defender in the NFL and here we are talking Fred. I assume this was already mostly in the can when you liked my comment :) Love the analysis, keep it up!
Something which caught my eye, around 4:14 we can see the lions keeping Sewell as a tightend running to the flats wide open. Something to keep an eye out on especially in the red zone
Warner's the man!!! That play against Dak/the Cowboys was unreal! He knew where Dak was going before Dak even realized that's where he was going lol.. It's insane the level at which these athletes are able to process and recognize what they're seeing. And the fact that they're pulling it all from their memory bank based on some film they've watched... I mean, it's truly unreal!

@@maskedman5657 he has great athleticism but that's about it he's reminding me of how Jaylon Smith career went with a good rookie season then never living up to his potential
As a longtime football fan I love watching Fred play. We are all blessed to see this generational type of player. I was a huge fan of Patrick Willis and devastated when he retired. Niners did an amazing job of scouting Warner and drafting him. I’m a closet Niners fan 😂
This was incredible. Hey, Demario Davis was the only Saints to make "Top 100" this year. Can we get him some love before his amazing work in Nawlins comes to a close (aka: is wasted? :P )
8:29 Warner's move on this play is very similar to what Darnell Savage did against the same triple-slant play in the playoffs vs Dallas, except that time Dak actually threw the ball and Savage turned it into a pick-6.
The best defensive players are always pass rushers, because of their impact on the overall game when opponents cannot pass on 3rd downs. I would argue that in the current NFL, offensive football must have the middle of the field. I think that Fred has the greatest impact on opposing offenses of any individual player, and thus should be the highest ranked defender in the league. Especially combined with his reliability.
the EDGE/pass rushers are the direct counter to the offensive player that has the most impact in the game which is the QB. You can still train a MLB to be 'solid' so they aren't bullied by QBs/OCs who aim to target them. But it still takes time and some of their instincts aren't built for high level match ups. Guys like Fred and to a degree Roquan are outliers in a mid-tier position on defense. The latter being more important to specific defensive systems that make running the back 7 a lot easier. Also smart defensive minds have somewhat built solutions to cover the middle in passing downs. Belichick's system uses the MLB as another lineman to plug gaps against the run game as he plays above the NT on early downs. But in passing downs he brings out 3 safeties in dime packages and essentially makes Kyle Dugger his LB/safety hybrid. Which speaks of the presence of safety/LB hybrids seeing important play now in the modern pass game (see the Bengals LB group who have experience playing safety in college).
most of the time all this analyzes are way to fast for me since i dont know any concepts or something like that at all. but still, i somehow get why the player is good or bad in your videos and i always learn something. also i dont understand any of that concept language at all, even after countless videos of you :D

Well in the past 5 years or so the Niners D-line had the athletes to be pass rushers and stout vs the run. So the linebackers can ideally play coverage with the back 7 consistently. Of course the Niners in recent years have also become explosive enough on offense where they force defenses on early passing scripts. So Warner still gets to play on coverage for the most part.
