I can count on a single hand players who never won the Cup who won the Cup in our hearts. Iggy is at the top of that list. And his assist on Sid's Golden Goal proves it. Iggy, I love you brother.
Legend. Multiple all-star selections. Led the Flames in scoring 10 years in a row. Played the game very heavy. Scored a boatload of goals. Was a leader. Played for the crest on his jersey. Was so well respected . He'll be in the hall of fame soon enough.
Kypros Economides I couldn’t agree with you more, very well put. Jar one Iginla is a well lived and loved Legend. There is no way to put how much he meant to hockey. Respect.
Being a Canucks fan, although I don't like the flames, I always had respect for Jarome Iginla, especially how he acted during Linden's last game in Vancouver. Pure class and a great leader
What a legend, Jarome Iginla, future hall of fame inductee for sure. You don’t have to win the Stanley Cup to be great. Arguably the greatest (one of the greatest) Flames to play for Calgary. NHL induct him this year, it will be very well deserved and fans of other teams wouldn’t complain. What a class act. The C on his jersey stands for classy...which he was a classy captain.
One of the classiest players the game has ever seen. A humble superstar. Enjoyed watching him. Jealous that Calgary had him. Coming from a Canucks fan!
*I dont care what team you cheer on, Iggy, is one of the greatest to have accomplished so much in his playing time, yet so little in terms of hardware. I'm a hardcore DucksFan, Iginla is forever a legend.*
Yup, my mom was working when he had one of his kids and he signed an autograph with a picture of him and mailed it to me with my name on it. I’m a Canucks fan and he knew that but it’s been hanging on my wall ever since I got it. I was young and I always respected him
I'm an Oilers fan and respect this guy a lot Iggy is a legend in hockey and wonderful to see this in the mighty Calgary Saddledome Wonderful player and great he's getting his number in the rafters Total respect
Canucks fan here.. Iggy you are inspirational, as much as it is hard to praise the flames, you are a legend and deserve the up most respect, thank you for the gold medal and just being the geat hockey player you are!
this is the first time that i have ever heard from this great player that i have seen play many times.he is a great ambassador for t is a great speakerhe sport... he
"This is such a huge honour. It's not something you prepare for," he says, spreading out his prepared notes. Haha. Good player. Skilled and tough. Defined the Flames for a number of years. Truly earned the respect of his peers.
Absolute legend. Cheered for them in 2004 even though the flames are one of my least favourite teams largely due to this guy right here. Nothing but respect for what this man accomplished on the rink, best of luck in the future Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis
Another Oilers fan here, adding my respect to Mr Iginla Truly great player and wonderful he's getting his number retired in the Saddledome Very funny speech and an excellent crowd there joining in; that chant was awesome on 'that' goal A true legend on the ice - Calgary No 12, Iginla And he won in so many ways - perspective is a great thing and loved how he ended his speech That raise to the rafters was brilliant
You played the game like you lived your life. You're a very wonderful man and I'm sure your family a very proud of you. Good health Jerome will see you when they put you in the Hall of Fame.
To many of us. This man single handedly made hockey fans in Calgary. I remember one time we ran into him at a restaurant and he asked if we wanted a picture. So solid.
He was a shining star in a dark era of the nhl. Being fortunate enough to watch his career here in Calgary what he was lacking he made up for with sheer will and determination. Probably the greatest ambassador for hockey and human beings in general. I hope to see more of him in some form or another, be it a coach a GM or PM. His story is not over!
Iggy is such a class act, this is the example of a hockey player both on and off the ice. I'm stoked he got to put on a Kings sweater even for a short bit.
@@99scored92 oh you did not want to see me during Smytty's last game... Cried nearly the entire game.... Like a child. He's my all-time favourite player.... And while I can't stand Linden I understand the absolute love Vancouver has for him (and I guess the Sedin's) and Ottawa (do they still have fans?) with Alfie... Gilmour in Toronto.... Y'know, Canadian team folk heroes. Their skillset was truly bested by their popularity... And they're only popular because they're just incredible humans that connected with every fibre of their communities
I heard he once paid for hotel accommodations in Salt Lake City for the 2002 Olympics for four Calgary residents sleeping in their cars? True class act.
On a side note, mildly surprised he didn't mention winning the Gold Medal in 2010. I'd get not mentioning winning a Cup with another NHL team at a Flames retirement ceremony, but 'the golden goal' on which he assisted was big for the whole country, no less Calgary.

As a life long Red Wings he was one of the players I “hated”, but only bc he played on another team. Like I hated Chelios..until he came to Detroit. We often hate the great players when they don’t play for our team, but respect them
Not a flames fan but this guy deserves all the respect. Class act and the player that got me into hockey. Congrats 🙏
A legend who will never be forgot in Calgary

He’s all smiles! 😁 makes me very happy. I hope he has a great retirement
I wish Kipper was there... He was a huge part of that era 😔
Keeko Cheecho Kipper has gone quiet since retirement.
Probably at a remote Lake in Finland, fishing and smoking cigarettes.
Well probably retire kippers# too soon hopefully
