This was just an example. I also said in the video that if someone truly wants to take it from you they probably can and or will. This just makes it a little harder for most people to get inside. Saw no reason to fight over workshops even before the nerf; all you had to do was hop to a new server and you could avoid losing caps to bounty all together.
@@Th3DAWNClan Doesn't work, 95% will just let you have it, and the few that DO fight over it, will just stash their junk then fight you. I know, because I've done both. :P
ive had a couple times where a high level person comes in, kills me, takes over, destroys everything, and then just leaves. All just to be an asshole. once it was a level 88 who i did manage to kill once, but they had a double shot explosive shotgun and could kill me with one hit at level 64 with my ultracite power armor on. the other time the guy was like 177 and i couldnt do shit about them, i just had to server hop
Unless your taking workshop for plans (reward) or are desperate for what they offer, it's not worth it to bother. The exception are the workshops by the power plants because they have fusion cores. Problem is that all high level players need fusion cores, so risk is high you'll be losing it. They don't have to do much except kill you, which offers them no penalty since by taking the workshop you agree to pvp. I helped a level 50 something player get the power plant fired up so he could run his fusion core extractor, then helped him do the normal defend thing. He was worried a bit I might want it......but at the time I just wanted to do the event & get the xp & plan rewards. Last night had the same workshop peacefully for 6 hrs. Then some level 160 something joins the server & pops in as I'm checking the extractor & one shots me. Not necessary. The place had only been checked a couple of times due to questing & the extractor wasn't locked.........so he could've harvest cores anyway. I don't bother to lock extractors because I know I'm not the only one who might need materials. **NOTE** be careful when exploring/looting around an owned workshop area. The game doesn't bother to warn you if say you come upon a locked crate that it belongs to a player. I became wanted this morning by picking said crate. Took hours for someone to finally kill me. Not like I bothered to fight back, I was like thank God bout time. lol
This is a super old comment but figured I’d add this anyway: if you have the legendary perk that lets you instantly pick locks, it works on player-locks, too. So you might spam unlock accidentally and suddenly end up wanted.
A tip is to use missile turrets, as those are the ONLY turrets that can harm higher level players. (And even then you need a LOT of them.) I have gone AFK for 5 minutes with 10 default player built turrets shooting me, and came back to 100% hp, because my passive HP regeneration from the endurance perk alone was enough to negate the laughable damage turrets do to me in X01 power armor. (Basically nothing, even without regen I still would have come back to 80% hp after 5min.)
i always defended my workshops like this. when i took poseidon this one time, workshop was inside literal fortress. not to mention the whole field of punji boards around fusion core processor. also i always lock all the doors and put additional 3stack of concrete panels behind it - that alone is one hell of a deterrent even while holding munitions factory
Marsupial or jet pack will get you past either of his setups, also, most of us don't care about a small bounty if we can get a workshop. You can also team up, take a workshop and get a bounty, leave server and come back. The workshop goes to your teammate who stays in server, and you can come back to your server and team without bounty.
when selecting things to build in the workshop menu the resource costs show up in green. when they turn white it means its costing you resources from your personal stash. my personal rules of thumb for work shops. 1. never invest my own stuff unless I need to burn off some extra or have plenty.I will most likely disconnect sooner rather than later. 2. I don't bother setting up to defend against players or even lock things. I know I will most likely be disconnected and if they have mutations or jet packs or 2 shot explosive anything it will just be a waste of resources. also I am level 113 and rich enough, if it helps another player out they are welcome to it. 3. I only use the level 1 turrets in a fairly tight group. the more you spread them out the more useless they become. in high level areas turrets are wtf owned if they're outside by scorch beasts even if they're rocket launchers. i found the cheap turrets if grouped tightly are just as good as the expensive ones "strategically spread out. 4. I don't bother trying to add or defend more than one extractor / resource. at the ammo factory I set up turrets on the ammo machine and generators, at the junk yard i set up the junk extractor. example - I need concrete so I will go to gorge junk yard, take it, get the defend xp, and plans ( most of which I have) set up the concrete extractor with loads of level 1 turrets and then visit from time to time to collect or defend. while I look for concrete elsewhere. I like the gorge for concrete extraction because its got a nice little area easy to lay on a bunch of turrets around the extractor. Many people don't bother with the taking of them but I have found public workshops to still be usefull as a small chunk of XP, a free fast travel location, and you can get some resources from it. pvp turns into who can one shot the other first at higher levels. i generally dont bother unless someone has a bounty on them
Tip for the upstairs office in sunshine meadows (the one u cant build barriers at the door) just move the desk, safe & couch in front of the door. Serves the same purpose as concrete barriers, yes its weaker but they still help.
I love the effort but u can activate workshop mode at the edge and blast my way in with very little effort. Perhaps you should just tell people to keep a supply of stealth boys and mines. Way more effective.
I've never had another player take a workshop[ from me. However all I do now is battle the enemy, claim the workshop defend the first wave then abandon it.
Also u dont need all those traps & barriers around the extractors, lock them & put 4 heavy machine guns set on the truck trailer or on the window & door lips work just fine
The ammunition one is the only one I have had people take from me. It's kinda silly because they never stick around to actually make much ammo. It can take a long time. And they never come back *shrugs* it is usually one or two higher level players. They come in and find me and shoot me in the head . They don't seem to care about being wanted. They also tend to bring scorch beasts with them. Fun times.
PLEASE do a video about how to play fo76, without constantly using power armor. Is it even possible?? As in, What are specific Perk Cards, Mutations, Body Armors, and Legendary Effects in the game that might compensate for not wearing PA and losing things like Damage Resistance, Carry Weight, Falling Damage Protection, etc.
It's possible, but you can never reach power armor resistances, despite what people may claim, though you can get 70-80% of the way there for a massive cost in skill points.
my regular armor does like 300 ballistic damage protection, i think its mostly metal armor, i dont really bother crafting high level armor because when i need more protection i just hop in my power armor, its pretty easy to switch back and forth, i only really need power armor against ghouls, nuke zones, and high level enemies like deathclaws annd scorchbeasts.
I hate power armor & only use it when given no choice. Not had an issue playing without it in 76 any more than any other fallout game. Best early tip: pick up & scrap any armor you find......as with weapons it does give you mods & once in a blue moon a plan for armor. Check vendor inventories for both plans & mods for armor types. Ironclad & whiteknight perks are helpful. There are armor leg mods that greatly help with fall damage. I worked with leather armor for what seemed like forever until I started finding combat armor. (I prefer the balance) I can now make a full set, but it took a while. I do have mods for it but still working on them.....not had so much luck finding them. Also looking into the marine armor, as I'm starting to see it & be rewarded with pieces. Oh, and perks that reduce damage are good for anyone. And there is a perk to reduce your armor weight as well. Also a perk called Fireproof I think. Many perks don't show up until certain levels. I also have high agility.......I want that option to run away if needed & it's saved me more than once, also saved teammates when I could exit the situation & come back in ready for action or to stimpak them.

In my opinion, holding a workshop is waste of resources. I constantly have to nanny it, and using materials to build and maintain a non-permanent spot is a waste even without server disconnects. I tried to use the northernmost ammo facility a couple times around lvl 50-75 until I realized that I was sinking more time and rarer materials into a spot that would fabricate ammo at a much slower rate versus perking in ammosmith rank 2 and super duper rank 3 crafting gunpowder and ammo. Lead is very common and steel is everywhere. Maxing out Home Defense to lay down missile turrets is way more effective than dozens of level 4 basic turrets. Those things are dead in a couple hits even in the forest area. The missile turrets cost more, but they do exponentially more damage.
Lol a 2 shot Gatling gun explosive will drop it all ;) but my real question is if anyone with a jet pack can fly over your walls outside why spend the budget
So I don't understand if you block it all off and you go somewhere else only to come back to your Workshop how do you access it so you can keep building
Just by pushing the back button (on xbox, idk on other consoles). That opens the menu then u can move the barrier to get inside. Or just build the fast travel mat inside so u always land inside the building
