+Nik Kingman yes it has Christian parallels but this is not a metaphor. Baseball is a part of our past and it truly has marked the time. America has changed drastically since the invention of baseball, and every other sport has changed since the beginning of baseball; however, baseball is still the same
Hayden Lindquist Baseball is not totally the same. They've made changes with challenges, The Buster Posey Rule, the Chase Utley Rule, both very much gray areas and they will here soon have a clock where the pitcher will have 30 seconds to pitch and if they go over it's a ball to the batter, there's 30 seconds now for a mound visit where some pitching coaches have been tossed for arguing. And many more changes have been proposed and if they come into play there'll be a good many changes coming up in the near future.

I think something that is overlooked with this amazing scene is that in his speech, not only does he convince Ray that the baseball field is significant in itself but also mentions the idea of people paying the $20 per person to gather funds to pay off the mortgage. Maybe it's just me but i never really focused on that aspect until after watching this scene several times.

Best baseball movie ever. I have had the same ball glove now for 37 yrs. It has been restrung a couple of times and i call it my rag. Some people ask why don't i get a new one? The reason is that one glove is filled with so many memories i could never replace it. All i have to do is open it up look at the web and it's like looking at a movie screen remembering all the places i've played, all the catches and the thousands of baseball/softball players, male and female, young and old, that i have played with and against or coached over those 37 yrs. Nothing can replace that ball glove. It's filled with the best times of my life. I don't play or coach any longer but still carry my bat bag in the trunk of my car with me at all times just incase a game breaks out somewhere or someone just wants to play catch. Baseball. If you have never payed it you will never truly understand it. It's Baseball.
Abouslety agree Kenny. I still have my catchers glove that my grandfather gave me. I've cought SO many games with it, that every time I look or pick it up I start crying.

While many people rightly consider this a baseball movie, this scene always made me feel like the point of the story ran deeper than that. This scene, more than any of the others, made me feel like this was a battle for Ray’s soul, with Terrence acting as the angel on Ray’s shoulder, imploring him to have faith, and Ray’s brother in law as the devil, scheming to get Ray to sell his soul. This movie created a tourist attraction for Iowa in real life, not just for the storyline reason.
RIP, James Earl Jones. "Field of Dreams"...him sitting there with the Baseball Encyclopedia saying "People will come, Ray...they'll come to Iowa for reason they cannot fathom...". I am misty-eyed typing this - loved him in this film and countless others ("Coming To America" - he played one in the movie, but he was also a real-life king).
RIP, Terence Mann. You're with your baseball heroes for the rest of eternity.
“Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars. So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will be there to guide you. And so will i.”
Rest In Piece to one of the best to ever do it
JEJ’s monologue never fails to put a lump in my throat.
"People will come Ray."
Tonight's the night on FOX with MLB: Field of Dreams [2021] (Debut)
'Broadcast the game, people will watch, Ray.
I'm watching. Oh, I'm watching the game, Ray.
Go Yankees! Yes, I'm a Yankees' fan, but for this game I'm a baseball fan, first.
I saw the game yesterday. Unbelievable. The baseball gods were present on a beautiful day in Iowa.
@@Colmenero444 you mean God period. There is only one God. But yes, he is a baseball fan.
And what a game it was.....
@@Nothereman9999 do we make this a annual match. Or let this be one of the greatest ball games in the history of professional sports.
