Jon Bernthal would be amazing in a gladiator style movie. I was hoping he would be the mew Wolverine, but Hugh Kackman is doing a Queen Elizabeth II and not stepping down.

I mean I don't hate it, but it is still a sequel no one wanted. Why does this need to sequel? Why not just make a standalone movie about gladiators? I would be far less skeptical about that then the forced plot contrivance of Lucian also being a gladiator out to save the empire or whatever the hell he is doing.

Rhinos are historically accurate. They along with other more exotic animals played a key part in the games. Rhinos specifically were obtained from Africa and India, but they would lose a lot of them during the passage back to Rome.
As far as the music, this is a trailer. Harry Greyson-Williams is scoring the movie so the music in the movie will align.
But they had Hans Zimmers and spoke English in ancient Rome? GTFO. Its a movie trailer man.

So yes, it's a historical fact. Also Romans used to transport huge animals like elephants, giraffe, rhinos etc.from Africa and Asia to Rome.

Forced DEI representation when none is needed to make a decent movie. A lot of people appreciate some sort of historical accuracy. It helps with immersion.

The funny thing is that the people making these scriptwriting, hiring and casting choices are the ones who are racist and sexist, because they prioritise race and sex over merit, historical accuracy and sensical storytelling. They’re bigoted, and their supporters like you mostly are too - but it’s against white people and men, so you don’t care. You go around enjoying the power of calling everyone who opposes you racist. But your power is slipping. I’d invite you to be an egalitarian, but you’d have to want to see people treated equally, and often people like you just can’t let go of their bigoted idea that whites and men are monolithic groups of evil oppressors who should be collectively punished. You seem to be a passionate and clever person - I hope you turn that towards the goal of seeing everyone treated equally, including the groups that you currently don’t like.

After watching this trailer and thinking about Gladiator my mind took me to the first movie. They just wasted money in this part II .
This film should well damn retain the masterclass of the first one or surpass it but it should not in any way degrade the legacy of the first film.

Excited for Gladiator 2 mainly because Ridley Scott is behind it, but the modern rap song in the trailer? Disappointed they used 'Church in the Wild' by Jay-Z and Kanye West. Period-appropriate music would be better.
Scott hasn't made a really good movie in decades. You might like them, but it's not a seal of quality.
