Walking unpredictability back toward the train station was an extremely questionable choice.
I was going to say it seemed like Ben and Adam had been replaced by strategic robots until Ben said "I'm just gonna wander in an unpredictable pattern" and I knew everything was gonna be ok

This must be peak Ben season. The way he confidently posted both towers and forced Sam to basically sit out his freeze period with him is a genius move.

Since there’s a possibility they’ll be alone i dont think it’ll happen (all the previous drunk moments were on a team, it didnt happen in S3 where he was alone)
Adam pulling the "set your phone to Japanese" card, and then going through ALL the emotions before *flawlessly* making his way back on several trains is my new favourite Jetlag moment. (Before that it was "randomly running into John Green in Paris")
There have been so many good moments on this show it’s wild

Just got so confused as to why this was released so early- I then realised I've been in Australia for the last 2 seasons and just moved back to Europe 48 hours ago and am in fact Jet lagged and confused.

Sometimes I have a feeling that Ben is quite clueless and naive, but here he pulled out the strategic mastermind and made an offer noone can refuse. Love it!

I've been thinking about it, and I think the core emotional stakes of this show isn't about winning or losing the game, it's about whether Sam and the guest teammate are going to figure out how to work well together. This has been the case for the past couple of series. The audience knows that Ben and Adam are always going to be lovable and amazing together, and they're experienced enough at this point that they're naturally favored to win. So it's subtly an underdog story, where the audience is hoping that Sam and his teammate can form a bond and mount a genuine challenge to Ben and Adam.
Or maybe your like me and just like to see sam lose for some reason. Also this may be debatable because Sam and Brian won season 1 but also lost season 4 (I think) after they already had a connection.
Nah. I still root for Ben and Adam even if they're generally winning
Yeah sam and his partner are basically the underdog trying to defeat the incumbent champions of Ben and adam.
And basically a test to see whether Sam's partner is up for it.
I'm not sure if your analysis really holds up considering a solid majority of the audience for this show just roots for Ben and Adam
@@kingacrisius I think people can root for Ben and Adam while also wanting it to be a close game; there's nothing fun about Sam's team getting blown out of the water and just flailing miserably the whole time

As much as I love Team Ben and Adam and will always be loyal to them, I really enjoyed the Ben/Sam dynamic this episode.
I absolutely love how sassy ben is at 26:05 . And then of course later when he says "It's like I have a loaded gun" even tho sam WANTS to be shot by that gun.
The animations have added to the show so much more! I especially loved when Ben's little graphic had mischievous eyes right before dropping the pizza tower 👀

That was voiceover in post so they knew what was going to happen and put that line in the script.

Ben and Adam were playing this round with a massive handicap, their flag was so much harder to get to
The part where Adam explains he only learned 3 Japanese phrases, only to draw the Japanese language curse card minutes later was some top toer foreshadowing. Chekov's language skills.
I'm disappointed the graphics team didn't change Adam and Ben's character's hats to Wario and Waluigi since they changed hats.

That one moment at 36:08 where Ben is just jammin it out at the pachinko place while Sam sneaks up behind him is just so funny for some reason...

Ben is in a foreign country, where everything is in a language nothing like his own, and still says "I don't even know what station I'm in, I just got on the first train." When I grow up I want to be like Ben.
Ben is like a supervillain, with the plotting and schemes. I like it.
I find it extremely funny how Ben played as good as he ever did, only to get tagged in a totally unnecessary way at the end.
Also funny that it was kind of like in the New Zealand season
I generally root for Ben and Adam, but I kinda hope Sam and Scotty (with all their cash) can take round 3 so we are treated to some sudden death!

I love how Adam just knew that people could tell he didn't speak Japanese. I also only speak a few words, but I've heard enough that I know that he has one of the strongest American accents I've ever heard. Scotty's accent is pretty good, though. (Of course I'm saying this as someone who doesn't actually fully speak it so it may well not be, idk.)
Most Japanese people will automatically assume that all foreigners don't speak Japanese. I've even heard stories of half-Japanese people who speak fluent Japanese but get misinterpreted. Also, none of them have correct pitch accent, which is the most telltale way of identifying Japanese learners and speakers.

scotty, sam, ben and adam never fail to entertain us they are amazing at this. they are extremely underrated...
Whoever edits this deserve an Oscar, guys you're making it again, love this, love the anime figures, love seeing Sam trapped, love seeing Ben as the evilest stepmother, love seeing Scotty and Adam hurrying up, love Japan, i think you could do like a travel vlog someday so we could see those places through your eyes and know more about them, but generally 5 stars, i love this game!!!

By far the best episode of this season so far, and one of the best in all of Jet Lag I think! Strats from both teams were pretty impeccable tbh, though I do think Sam could’ve potentially got from Utsonomiya to East Tokyo (second flag) without going through Omiya and getting tagged/frozen. The game mechanic of stealing the other teams points when you tag them is a really cool bonus feature

It's clever that Team Sam decided to take the Yamabiko - which have intermediate stops, rather than Hayabusa - which the next stop apart from Sendai, is Omiya, right into Ben's trap.
i wouldnt say its clever as they were just rushing to get on the earliest train back to tokyo
@@youraveragecuber69 Well if they do, they will both go straight into Omiya station, causing both to be caught, which is a big no-no.
Sam can actually take a JR line train - NOT a shinkansen - to Kurihashi.
That way, he can transfer to the Tobu line, which will COMPLETELY AVOID OMIYA.
Ben would still have had time to cut him off in Kasukabe with the ghost tower. But it would have probably been a better move so that at least Ben would have had to move.

Also, there are limited express trains called Ryōmō from a station call Tobu-zoo stations which completely skips Kasukabe, meaning even if Ben had the towers they would be useless anyways.
Watching both members ensnared by the pizza tower is so satisfying.
I love how the shows snack zone and chu chu chew repeating in giving useless comments and rankings like: "This is soy sauce" "I dont like it. I hate starbucks" "The egg is surprisingly sweet." And also the in- and outro ist often longer than the clip afterwards. I love it, it keeps making me laugh so hard 😂
