Hey Coach, why do you need to release the ball after the 1, 2 step? Will it be a carry / travel if i dont release the ball after the 1, 2 step? Pls advise - thx
As an old has been I will just ask the young people today, is there a limit to how many steps should be allowed while the ball hangs? I mean is any number of steps ok now on the hang? double, triple, quadruple step backs. Double euros, etc. It has to end at some point?
The rules says that steps would count after you picked it up with two hands, so you can take unlimited number of steps, and then gather or dribble again, as long as you don't carry the ball
The rule makes sense because if you're heading downhill full speed, you're going to take more steps between dribbles. If you. The only difference is you're slowing that process down. Instead of 3 steps between a dribble on the fast break, you're taking 1 step in that half second it's hanging. I used to not like it, but I get it
Хорошее видео, но покажите пошагово, как это делать в другую сторону. То, что показано, для правшей идеально, а если делать SIDE STEP вправо, и левое плечо впереди, то для правши не совсем удобный бросок.
Man I been playing basketball for 40 years and got back into playing pick up games again and some of the stuff now days I been looking at. That is traveling. This and the drop back step that I now learned Harden started. Jeez the NBA just keeps relaxing the rules (they call it the zero step now). They want to see points on the board and they keep giving the offense more tools over the defense. I always had great defense and with these moves that are allowed it really makes it tough to guard. There have been crafty players for ever and now this is just figured out. I also have to say Jordan traveled all the time and maybe came from him. I do know, everyone thinks they are 3 point shooters anymore and as I drive to the basket no one follows for a pass cutting to the lane for a pass or if I pull up for a shot to rebound, they all move to the perimeter to shoot the long ball. I guess everyone from Bob Cousy generation thought everyone in the 80’s was carrying the ball. So the game changes. One final one I can not stand is the push off on people backs on rebounds. I will call that one every time. I get great block out position and a long rebound and people now will push you in the lower middle back.
Bro why does everyone show going left like that's pretty easy and it's much harder to go right especially if your left foot is infront and you gotta stepback and get it behind your right foot
He’s collecting the ball too early sometimes and legitimately traveling. Wait to place two hands on the ball until your side step is in progress or just pound the ball once as you load up that step to remove any doubt of traveling.
Why do RUclipsrs teach moves that are only legal in the NBA. In almost every level of the game, if you gather the ball with your foot planted, that foot is your pivot foot.
This is known as traveling at every level of basketball except the nba. To not be traveling, one can land on both feet (a jump stop) and shoot, but not on stuttered feet. Or, even better, you could teach how to take that back or side step with a turn dribble.
@@that1guy186 He picks the ball up only AFTER that first step you're talking about. For example, it would be perfectly legal for him to take that first step and then continue dribbling as he has not picked up the ball. Using that logic, he only takes 2 steps after actually discontinuing his dribble, therefore it's not a travel and a legal move
no it's defintely not. when he gathered the ball after the dribble thru his legs, that's where the counting begins. so he first moved the right foot to the left, then the left foot to the left, lastly the right foot to the left again. I think the last step is a gathered step. It's allowed by some officials especially in the NBA and NCAA. In street league, depends in the ref though.
@J King thats why, there arent too many guys who can do that in nba! Conditioning, practice and iq(mentality). When you improve mostly in these areas, you re gonna be able to do it. Its not hard! Just hard work

Nice move. I'll try it with my counter. Thanks a lot.

Could it be more useful if you mix the side step with the double step back of james harden???
You can’t
@@grantedenss you tweakin, 4sho you can do if james harden does it then ...🤚
I need to add this to my Arsenal bro. But such a tough shot

What about side step to the other side. It feels awkward going the other way
Superb
More ball handling drills
If I could’ve done this in the 80s I would’ve had 40 every game!!
amazing vids, can you talk about how you use your breathing during the moves?
What I having problems is the breathing.
Always left side step. How about rigth side
Woahi have never done a side step only step backs. I'm excited to do this 🙃

These moves are encouraging to travel.
Video needs more lighting. Great content though.
Can`t do that in Europe DJ. Travelling That´s why the USA can´t real odl ball
The ball must float until the side step is completed. If you pick the ball up before you side step, it’s travel period
I am doing this a lot in games but still thinking it’s a travel
the camera is too shaky
Is it legal?!
Thanks James Harden you made it legal!!!
Facts big as travel every shot
👏👏👏👏😍

same thought when watching the video. he takes one step and a hop, so three contacts. im in my 40ies . crazy how the rules ve been watered down.
How come he aint in the NBA.
@Samuel Guzman altitude sickness -- sick of not getting to the rim

Nice one. But hard to tell if it could be travel

This is great, but my goodness this looks like a travel at full speed. HS refs will call this a travel at least half the time.
More than half..I don’t train euros cuz high school refs miscall it!

Besides, Isn't there a traveling for the europeans, coach?

Your intrusive wipping looks like nervous tic
Seems like a 3-step travel
When you’re gathering the ball that step doesn’t count towards your two steps.
@@dostufph makes no sense at all.
Sorry Can´t play old school ball. Tighten that up a bit
Ahhh the old jump while you have picked up your dribble then take three steps drill.

It's not a travel. From the moment he picks the ball up he goes 1-2. Dribble is still alive before the last 2 steps. Read a rulebook
