  • We did a 3 day, 2 night trip from entry point 57 off the Gunflint Trail. We entered Gunflint Lake and Magnetic Lake to enter the Granite River. This trip took us 4 portages to our basecamp at Clove Lake, where we stayed for two nights. Our third night we were scheduled to stay at Trails End Campground, but we left early due to increasing wildfire activity.
The BWCA was closed on August 21st, the start day of our trip. Unfortunately, we had already begun our route by that time. With no way to communicate to the outside world, we didn’t realize this until our last day, when we ran into other canoers. Here is our experience.

Man that be wildlife & social distancing to the max. They have any fish in tat water up there? Don't the bears or wolves attack you when you sleeping?

Good fishing up in the BWCA! We didn’t see any bears or wolves on this trip. Sometimes we hear wolves howling at night up north but all was quiet on this trip.
