    What a lovely video! Welcome to Singapore! As someone who lives here, I can almost certainly say the trash you found at Marina Bay area was not left by locals who not only abide by the law of not littering but because this is our home and we are proud of our clean city. We hope tourists will pick up after themselves so others can enjoy our city just as much!

    The way to appreciate SG is to experiment for yourself the way city is designed, how the country country is organised. Not just Marina Bay and Garden By the Bay. These are just tourist attractions. Taking public transport, having meal at Hawker Centre, cycle in the green corridor, take a walk in a neighborhood Park. Happy journey, my friends

    Welcome to SG! 🇸🇬 So sorry to say that if & when you see trash on bridges/roads/etc in SG it’s unfortunately done by tourists/non-Locals sigh. First of all, Locals will sit down to eat at Hawker Centres/restaurants/cafés, not eat while walking around - and under the sun at that - Locals know all the shortcuts underground (at CBD there is a network of shops/eateries/convenience stores underground) hence will not walk above-ground while the sun is still strong. Second, Locals will never discard anything irresponsibly, they will hold the item until they see a trash bin, it’s a lifelong habit. Third, Locals will call and yes bother to report/complain to govt about said trash or even a BBQ stick that has not been disposed of for days - a real incident reported a few years back 😂 Govt will call back within a few mins to thank/apologise to the caller, check CCTV’s location of trash, remove it and see who the culprit was + track their location to send evidence-based fine = Locals know this and will criticise/laugh at anyone parting with their cash for this stupid reason 😂
    Many of the suggestions you got is from Locals who want you to experience local life, it is not however for tourists with limited time. I highly suggest going to the multi-awarded ‘Singapore Zoo’ and the one next to it, ‘River Wonders’. Both are beloved by Locals and with good reason as they are one of the best (if not THE best) Animal Parks I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen plenty from many countries. Unless you come back, you will not catch the beautiful Bird Park (now called ‘Bird Paradise’ formerly called ‘Jurong Bird Park’) - the biggest Bird Park with over 3500 birds from 400 species = also multi-awarded especially for conservation efforts. Govt moved the highly impressive Bird Park, centralising all animal parks into one massive location. Locals are eagerly awaiting the re-opening (with discounted prices) 1st week May. FYI I am a western foreigner living in SG for almost 15 years hence I’m a Local too 😊 xx

    If you went to one of the local housing clusters (Singapore builds the living areas clustered around a central hub with all the amenities), I'd recommend going to one of the "coffee shops" and look for a store that cooks with woks. They're called "zhi cha" stores and while the name may be murder on the tongue, the food definitely isn't!
    If you're really out to find those gastronomical treats, I'd recommend "hor fun", either the beef or the seafood version and the "shan me". Write it down if you can't remember and try those out, it's worth it. Ask any of the Singaporeans here.

    A good Strategy for Tourists;
    Early Morning - Have breakfast in your hotel, or find a 27/7 McDonalds... Then start seeing some of the outdoors sites before it gets too hot.
    Late Morning - Starting around 10:30-11:00am, the shops and malls start opening up and it's a great time to shop around and look for a place eat lunch.
    Early to Late afternoon - Stay indoors and look around... It's the hottest part of the day, and a good time for a siesta...
    Early evening onwards - After 7pm, the city will come alive with many bars and restaurants opening up... Some restos need reservations.. Ask your hotel..
    PS: Your Umbrella will double as a parasol...!

    It's good that you spotted that rubbish :) Singapore used to be sparkling clean back in the 90s until we opened up to people from the third world country for work, and we also do have filthy people living here. It gets worse if you go to the heartland 😅
    Then again, you can not find a spotless country , maybe Japan or Norway..
    I like your vlog, btw
    Give me a shout if you are still in Singapore , I will buy you some local lunch

      Same here in Malaysia. Indonesians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis etc etc. Kl was trashed during long holidays once upon a time. As locals go back to hometowns. Later the gov tell employers to ask them to work, replace with other days. One thing I notice, when they cycle to work, they bring along their domestic trash and dump them on roadsides.

      Ummmm there is a beach near Tokyo whereby they can clean it once before summer. Due to budget issue. Just as dirty as south east asia. For me no 1 is Switzerland. My dream country

      No. I volunteer picking up litter around my estate regularly and I can tell the litterbugs are mainly locals. How do I know? I confronted a few in the act. True blue Singaporeans and smokers are the biggest culprits. Trash bin may just be 2 steps away but they leave their trash where ever at their convenience -cig butts and boxes, drink cans and carrier, paper tissues etc. NEA should do something about it.
