Onwards and Upwards,
Nick
Nick - I commented on a video a while back and you kindly replied. Told you I would let you know when I had broken 20 mins on the 5k. Done! Overjoyed and hope perhaps some more to give just yet. Thanks so much for your motivational videos. Cheers
Looooooove it!!! Thanks for letting me know mate!! Sub 20 is a big one to tick off ✔️ well done and keep going! Onwards and upwards!!
Nick, I so enjoy running in the prime x strung, they actually make me smile like I’m mad when I’m running!
But do we get the same training effect? My heart rate is slower and pace is always flattering.
@@mawilliams777 you should get the same training affect when running in them 👌🏻 for me they just help speed up recovery. What a shoe!
Doing 3X10k with 1k float would force me to take a rest day or two! I thought my upcoming long run workout was bad at 36km with 5k,4k,3k,2k MP with 2k floats between each.
Good-luck with your training and race!
Perfect clip to watch today, inspiring. I really, really think it's your time to break that 2:20 barrier! It's raining in Canberra and predicted to be wet for my 10km event tomorrow when I hope to channel some Boom Shaka Laka for my own run. Also, I can't wait to run in Battersea Park when I visit London for the first time later this year! Everyone else keeps asking what London sights I have on my list and all I can think of is Bushy parkrun and Battersea park lol
Oh my god!! I just did 4 * 3 km at marathon pace and never thought about 10 km rounds 😮🎉 congrats!!!!
Keep grinding! Keep building!! 💪🏻📈
Great workout session Nick, and thanks for sharing, I'm inspired.
All the best in Manchester.
Hi Nick, I've been following your progress and training with interest (as a 2h18 runner myself). One thing that stood out for me on your latest video was that you were talking about being in zone 4 for a marathon. If you use Stephen Seiler's approach to setting zone boundaries where zone 2/3 boundary corresponds to LT1 and zone 3/4 boundary to LT2, then a marathon is run in the lower end of zone 3 (and a half marathon in upper zone 3). A marathon is not run at faster than anaerobic threshold pace as it would not be sustainable at this intensity. Hope this helps
Thanks for this 🙌🏻 yes for sure I agree with this. I follow a different zone metric to that. Thanks for sharing and hopefully one day I’ll join you as a sub 2:20 runner 🤞🏻
As someone with a high metabolism, I like the beta fuel gels with more carbs. Only one supplier in the US that carries them though.
Way to go. So dedicated. I wish superb results that exceed your expectations.
Crikey that’s a really tough session. On your own mentally very hard too. Well done. Take confidence that you’re in good shape ✊
Well done Nick. The infamous 3x10KM returns and you smashed it again.
Thank you for sharing nutrition, metrics and thoughts right through the workout.
Absolutely a mental game.
Well done. 💪
"Adidas Santa" 🎅 heard your request.
Haha love it! Let’s see what arrives 🎁
Awesome work Nick. Keep grinding for that sub 2:20!
This is the best shape I've seen you in. You gonna be good. Good luck.
I only use gels during training and races. To me they are like fast food...if you don't have the time to get something better, okay. But before and after serious runs I'm lucky to always find the time to prepare and enjoy nice meals that have all nutrients needed 😋. I don't think I miss proteins or anything by doing so.
Always good to get as much goodness from natural food sources as possible 👌🏻
My favorite fit so far Nick.
Nick, I've been truly enjoying your videos and been hooked every since I watched a video of you running a 5K. Loved this video, question: How do you consume the drink mix? Before or during?
Nick youre looking lean mate! Good luck with marathon. I will be keenly looking out for the video.
Strava update always takes priority for me!
Great work on this training run! Nice that the other guy casually joined you
Very nice of him! Didn’t expect it either. Definitely helped having company for a bit
I'll be running in Manchester. Sadly it was will be a slow one for me! I've spent the last 4 weeks rehabing my Achilles from tendonitis and doing cross training ....so I'm a wee bit nervous!
this is better than netflix. so invested in your marathon bro you are gunna kill it
Glad you enjoyed it 🍿 thanks mate!! 🤞🏻🚀
Great session, that is seriously a lot of marathonpace.
Next sunday I will run my first marathon: Rotterdam.
Last sunday was the last "big" session of 30K with 3x7k and the week before that 35k with 5x5k at marathonpace and I thought that was a lot and tough ... until I saw your 3 x 10k.
Good luck for Rotterdam 🇳🇱 it’s amazing! You’ll love it!!
Good luck!
Excellent vid as always, lean machine bud, best of luck with Manchester.
What's your current weight Nick if you don't mind me asking
Nick, I so enjoy running in the prime x strung, they actually make me smile like I’m mad when I’m running!
But do we get the same training effect? My heart rate is slower and pace is always flattering.
Super stuff, Nick. Standout tip was the one to vary the fuelling during the race to avoid overgelling (if that's a word)?
Have a blast at Manchester. We'll be about an hour behind you.
Thanks so much 🙌🏻 really appreciate the support. I’ll leave nothing out there!!
I've been around since 1991, but I never did sessions like that before. my PB is 2 31 19 97. I'm sure you're going to smash your pb
You're looking much leaner mate, marathon training is doing good for you. Bodybuilder Nick for next marthon.
Good luck in Manchester Nick, if i see you coming down the other end of the out and back i won't be saying anything as its my first marathon at Manchester so going to be locked in but know my eyes will be scanning haha 😂
🤣🤣 good luck and enjoy it to the max!!
Very nice work champion❤sir
Great session Nick! Hope it goes well at Manchester 👍 what are your plans at London, are you leading a sub 3 train?
Thank mate. Leading a sub 2:45 pack at this years London 🎉
Gutted 😂 I was hoping to join your sub 3 party, it looked a blast last year! I will have to get faster for the next one 🤣
Nick, I will put a PSA for what you eat AFTER the race. I got a free protein bar in one of the goodie bags and decided to eat it when my stomach was probably too sensitive from so much goo.... I will spare you the details but it was not pretty.
I'm finding that keeping my stomach happy during 15+Km runs is a bit of a challenge these days (wasn't before). What I have learned is don't eat to heavy the night before.
@@acasualviewer5861 but but but Pasta... it's half the reason I do long runs 😅🥲
I always take protein and sports rehidrat (that's what it's called) before updating my Strava
Does Lucozade sport even have any sugars in it lol? I've nearly bought a bottle before a track session but it's so low in sugars and cut with sweeteners like most drinks in the UK.
Really difficult to find a nice sugary sweet drink in the UK
Just wondering do you generally stick to the flats or would you hit some hills ever?
Saludos desde mexico 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
Hola 👋 🇲🇽 🏃♂️
I find it quite surprising that they haven't sent you a pair of the EVO's yet. It's even more puzzling when they've sent them to individuals who may not fully utilize their capabilities. No disrespect to them, but it's definitely a head-scratcher. By the way, what method do you use to monitor your heart rate and determine whether you're in the aerobic or anaerobic zones during your workouts?
I very rarely actively monitor HR while running. More to check the data afterwards 👌🏻
Hi Nick. I struggle to get more than 5 gels down. I've been taking a bottle of Maurten 320 drink mix on my long run sessions to fuel the first hour and cut down on gels. Is it crazy to do the same on race day and carry a water bottle for the first hour? My first marathon, aiming for 3:30
Not crazy at all but just bear in mind that you’ll most likely have water and drink mi on route for your goal race too
That was a big session 👍🏻🙏💪 u look stong and ur mentaly are great strong head! What do u have for size? Can maybe fix those Adidas race shoes for u!
Ah wow 🫶🏻 UK size 10.5
@@justalilbester hi bro, only get right now UK size 8.5 , I have been asking ur size but no one can get it right now ..
In the review of your last marathon I remember you said you were going to some things different like, getting a coach, train for 2:18, and work on your stride. Did you do all these things?
Well remembered. No I didn’t end up getting a coach. I just felt the time wasn’t right with my move coming up.
I don’t train for a 2:18
But I did work in my stride ;) especially early on in the block. Let’s see if it’s enough
@@justalilbester I hope so, with 2 little ones it's not easy. Especially getting decent rest
I watched a podcast with Greg lemond talking about Ketones, and he claimed that extensive research proved that it actually worsens performance by 2%
Interesting. There’s a lot of mixed opinions about ketones at the moment. For me they work. For others they might not. Best way is to try it yourself 👊🏻
what do you use to record your heart rate and whether your in aerobic or anaerobic zones?
I use a Garmin Pro HR monitor. I don’t look it at too much during the session. Mainly analyse afterwards
@@truth-Hurts375 looking less makes the kms fly quicker I agree. I was peeping to ensure I’m not pushing too hard too soon.
Prime X Strung 1 or 2? I can’t imagine running that fast in the 2!
It’s like having 2 kids. You love them both just as much. Can’t choose.
Im sick from just one gel! Hate those things
Try Medjool dates. (Better Carb profile than Nick Bare's gels.)
So it's 10k and then 1k slower? Times 3??
Yup that’s exactly it 👌🏻
@@justalilbester I've seen your vids so I know you're a beast but good god that's impressive. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Sub 2 hour here you come 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
HIgh value video as always.
I'm surprised they haven't sent you a pair of the EVO's. Especially since they sent some pairs out to people who aren't even able to get the best out of them. No shade to those people but, weird...
Also "the Strava police" 😂
@12:30 Gentleman behind you needs to work on his form, bless him
He is my club mate. His form works pefectly well for him. Although it is tricky to run around him on a track.
Haha that one got me 😅
It's nuts how fast he runs with Nick considering the style / form of running. Way quicker than me 😂😂😂😂 maybe I should adopt that form also
It’s just his biomechanics- nothing to do with form
Trt?
Don't try anything new on race day 🤔....Adidas send me a pair of Evo Pro 1s for race day! 🤔👟🤣🤣🤣👍🦾🏃💙🤍 God loves a tryer 😁
Bwahahaha expect if it’s that. Then risk it for the biscuit 🍪 thanks 💙🤍
