Tony Visconti's bass line is to die for. The tone is superb.
All the best Bowie albums and music come prior to the release of Lets Dance. In my opinion.
you should do the whole album, react to the next song from the album. You will love it !
Forget all the hype about Space Oddity etc, this, Cygnet Committee, and Saviour Machine are Bowie’s finest recordings ever. They’re all complex but perfect.
The genius of Mick Ronson. I mean Bowie's God like,no doubt, but that combo was magic! All the Madmen is my favorite on the album.
I love the whole album, my favourite is also All the mad men, closely followed by Saviour Machine and The Width of a circle xxx
@@andalltheangelssay212 I love it too. I guess ATMM has such a personal tone but so does the Man Who. It's a brilliant record, but its Bowie, except for a few I don't care for as much, he has masterpiece after masterpiece. Cheers!
Probably my favourite bowie album apart from maybe Aladdin sane diamond dogs or space oddity low and the rest 🏴👨🏻🎤
Mick Ronson's guitar is majestic as always! He died way too soon.
There were some great shots of Mick in these videos, good close ups.
The song and the performance in "the last show of the tour" is the summit of rock and roll.

He said he followed Ronson when playing. Bowie recorded his vocals The last day of recording. He was generally dismissive during recording.
Ronson was gift to Bowie's rise. W/out Ronson Bowie would not have entered 70 mainstream. Everything past Aladdin Sane and Diamond Dogs by Bowie sucked. Angie Bowie confirmed. I had the privilege to jam w/Ronson in 92 in Germany prior to his passing. What a down to earth person he was. Thank god Ian Hunter saw the talent Ronson had. Respectfully saying, Bowie screwed the Spiders.

For many, many years, this was my favourite Bowie track from my favourite Bowie album. Tastes change as you get older, and Bowie of course kept adding other great albums to his repertoire, so I'm not sure where I would rank this track now. Still in my top ten for sure, and possibly top five.
As a general rule, though, the singles he released were never as strong as the other tracks on his albums (although there are exceptions, obviously!), so keep digging for those hidden gems!
This is magic. Listen to it on The David Live (Tower Philadelphia) album...It's freaking AWESOME!

The live version from July '73 is more vibrant and harder edged.

Width of a circle is not the first song on the album its all the madmen they have changed the order over the years.
Ahhh The Man Who Sold the World... Bowie's all out metal album. He wouldn't be this heavy again until Tin Machine. Lots of occult references on this album! Bowie hid his interest in magick after this, but here it is adamant! Bowie did it all with style... metal, punk, rock, pop, disco...
It's called Vintage Rock. Not many bands have reached that status.

Wow, I literally commented on one of your videos last night asking if you would react to The Width of a circle and All the mad men! Was it a coincidence or did you see my request? Either way, thankyou so much. 😇Another great one to react to would be Rock’n’roll suicide , 1973, live at the Hammersmith odean, the performance just after David announced “Of all the shows on the tour, this particular show will remain with us the longest, because not only is it the last show of the tour, it’s the last show we’ll ever do.” to the surprise of some of his band members. It was the night he retired Ziggy.

Rock’n’roll suicide, live 1973 at the Hammersmith Odean, it would be interesting to do one from each year as his style changed quickly.; it’s gonna be me 1974 (soul era) there’s a great 1976 rehearsal of Word on a Wing from Station to Station, then something from Low (maybe Subteranneans) 1977, So you’ve heard his 1970, you might find it interesting to react to one of David’s songs from each year up to 20016 to see how diverse he was, including some Tin Machine. I would recommend avoiding 1983-88, he said himself he was not as proud of his work at that time when he was a huge success, he started writing for the audience, later he got back to himself xx Am I allowed to send Lincks? There is a chance some of his stuff might get copywrited though, particularly since his estate recently sold his published catalogue to Warner Channell Music xxx

Don't forget Lulu did one too. I think Bowie produced it for her, the suspicion being that he was shagging her at the time.
Bowie was reluctant to explain this song but it's likely that his half-brother's mental health problems (including hallucinations) played a part in it, along with his own disaffection with religion (after his time in a monastery). And the "bisexual or at least bicurious" part of it.

Well we are all good then, I meant production when I was talking about production and arrangement when I was talking about arrangement. Sometimes I talk about tone and others times I talk about talent.
Fuckin' hell, you don't do the hits. The 70's are imperial. Try his album Heathen. I think 2003. Its great. Almost a revisitation to those old sounds but always different. Its Bowie!!
