- Clearing a blocked air conditioning drain pipe/hose on my 2009 Land Rover Freelander 2 XS. This cured the steaming up issues and occasional mist coming from the air vents.
Another brilliant video from you Beavis.
And some English humor:
1/: Pull off the hose, and watch a lot of water drain into the floorpan, while saying it's good to collect it in a container.
2/: "An animal of some sort crawled in there and died"...
Priceless!
I'll be doing this tomorrow and use a foam spray as well in all channels and with the cabin/pollen filter out, spray through that on to the heater and condenser, as well as spraying through the small black hose you showed.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards.
really hoping for a miracle next weekend when i'll be able to try to fix my mist and draining problem. THanks a lot, Beavis
Another great video, cheers Beavis. Just sorted mine, managed to catch most of it in a bottle - was amazed at the amount of dirt that came out. Followed up with the tube, never seen so much water drop out the bottom. Nice, easy and satisfying job!
Thanks very much for this. I had exactly the same symptoms and thanks to your video I was able to sort the problem in a hotel car park, on holiday, with just a bit of tube. The only other thing I did before a road test was to pour some water from a bottle down the tube to check it drained freely. Thanks once more for an excellent video - RUclips at its finest!
Mark, glad you found it helpful!
Top job mate, I think this is the 2nd time I have used your videos for a quick, simple and best of all FREE fix.
Many thanks from sydney Australia, have steam & wet feet in front foot wells, just replaced my windscreen today that was cracked, they told me the window was still sealed & was not the issue I was at my wits end trying to solve this issue
Yep, just used this vid to help me solve the wet careers are misty screen. Thanks.
As oths have said ....THANKS for this video i've had the same experience of misting up often at start up after previously running the car so i'm going to do what you suggest here and then look for your vid about testing the heating element as like yours perhaps it isn't working as it should .... Keep the films coming ....brilliant work
Thank you! Glad you found the Aircon drain video useful. I’ve not filmed the auxiliary heater investigation video yet, but I will be doing that sometime soon.
Nice one dude, just cured my misting problem in 15 minutes thanks to your video 👍🏻
Brilliant piece of info. Very useful indeed. Could save one a small fortune in garage repair costs. Please Keep the vids coming **********
Thanks Robin, lovely to get feedback like this!
same problem! I'll try to solve the problem following your instructions! thank you from Italy!
Many thanks for this - had the same problem and your video was brilliant, even remembered to have a cup handy
Soggy passenger foot well fixed 👌
Many thanks
Merci beaucoup, ca faisait un moment que je cherchais. Un problème enfin résolu...
Je suis content d'apprendre que cela a résolu votre problème
Your videos are very helpful. Thank you..
You saved my day!!!!!!😍
Did you find you got a puddle of water in the n/s/f footwell? Mine must be very blocked as I can get an inch of water in the footwell. It’s definitely not heater matrix as not losing coolant and it’s fresh water
No wetness in either footwell on my car, just steaming up, but if it is really blocked up then I guess it could overflow on either side.
Had this and had no clue what was happening.
Really great video. My freelander had exactly the same problem. Did this and now water is dripping from the bottom as nit should. a question though i had a puddle form in the passenger side would this puddle not get any deeper and how the hell should i dry the passenger side out. i have wet vacked it but it is still pretty damp.
Passenger side (UK) may also be blocked hose if it is overflowing with condensate.
Thanks for the video!
Hi Beavis. I’ve done all the above apart from getting underneath. It appears it’s quite blocked a lot of mud in the clear tube drivers side but no drainage coming from underneath. Any suggestions please?
Have you tried blowing it out by mouth with a length of clean hose? Failing that you’ll need to poke something up or down the hole.
Are the air con pipes the same place in automatic hse version?
Yes, should be the same on all Freelander 2s
This has happened to me twice, at first I thought it was the heater matrix leaking but someone told me to have a look if the pipes blocked! I don’t know why it keeps blocking though it’s like black slime inside the elbow pipe
Mine blocked again last week. Algae slime. I sprayed WD40 down the pipe to stop anything taking up residence.
same issue here thanks!
I want to ask durring air con is working is that plastic warm or not because my is very hot
I checked my panel today. It is cold. Either your heater is still outputting hot air (faulty mixer vane) or the PTC element is on (electrical fault).
beavis so is it normal for the water to be dripping out just that had freelander for years and never noticed it before
Yes, it should drip out under the car. Puddle of water when parked on hot day is perfectly normal. No puddle may mean the drain is blocked.
How about with left hand drive vehicles? Is the drain pipe on the passenger side of the car?
On LHD it is in passenger footwell, same side as in my video.
Is that water just condensation?
Yes, dripping off the cold matrix
@@BeavisPits I don't know if you'd know or not but my Aircon makes an awful noise and doesn't blow very cold, I've been told it might need draining and regassing, does that sound right?
Zinging noise above 50mph is a regas
It does it while sitting still and at any speed,@@BeavisPits
Who new Miles Jupp was a Land Rover mechanic? Trying to sort my AC only blowing hot. Its 40+ degrees here in Spain, everything seems to be ok, but the air just went to hot on a trip. Local mechanic found a fault code of N2101. Please, any ideas?
Not heard of N2101 but P2101 is throttle body motor fault, very common, usually worn plastic gears. Easy to change, see my intercooler hose video. For your heater, sounds like the mixer flap has got stuck on hot. My volvo used to do this sometimes. If you adjust the temperature to full hot the full cold repeatedly a few times it may get it moving again. Worked for me.
@@BeavisPits Thanks for the reply, N2101 refers to a fault on the AC circuit, I swapped the relay in the fuse box in the engine compartment, blowing nice and cold again.
