Just started watching your videos yesterday. Old achool cantonese dishes are my favorite. I've watched a few of your videos. I like your honest take on the food and sharing the restaurant prices. Love your food shots and choices. Nothing quite like Cantonese food reviews done by someone with a Canto background. Thanks for sharing these videos.

You're welcome! I appreciate your viewing and your positive feedback. Going to these places is almost like keeping a diary. If you're a local, maybe it will help you choose some decent entrees!😀 Yes, I definitely think my background gives me a deeper perspective on these foods, but I'm by no means an expert, just someone who has lived many decades who can see how things have changed.

Hi, I just caught your video! I really appreciate your honest and informative review. I actually from northwest suburb of Chicago but haven’t been down there for ages since covid. Now, you gave me a reason to go. Thanks!!! Keep up the great work!!

I appreciate your comments! I was just so happy to find that seafood basket dish in Chicago that I could no longer find in New York! I hope you enjoy this place as much as my family did!

grew up eating canto food in the Seattle area . like you i have not seen the seafood birdnest dish in a long time . all the dishes you showed we order regularly at a canto restaurant. Even though my ABC kids don't speak much canto, they sure know how to eat canto thanks to us . BTW we always add red vinegar and white pepper to fish maw soup. we would add cognac also if it was on the table at wedding parties.

Thanks for watching! Funny thing is that I know a lot of ABC kids and the only Cantonese they know are food items! As for the red vinegar and white pepper, so many people swear by it, but I haven't made that move yet. Maybe I'm old and set in my ways.

Yeah I have not seen seafood birds nest probably since the 90s. I never had it but remember seeing it on the menu and seeing other people eating it back then in Philadelphia Chinatown. It’s like a Time Machine food

I've been eating here since I was a kid. I didn't realize the dishes were classic or old-fashioned! To me and my Cantonese family, this is just good, traditional food.

Till this day, I still can't find the seafood basket in New York. Chicago is so lucky to have it.

Cantonese food is the most wonderful cuisine in the world! I grew up going to Chicago Chinatown + was very close to a family who owned a Cantonese restaurant. They were originally from Hong Kong. Love the people. Love the food. To me, China is Canton!!

The history of Cantonese food in America runs deep for sure. It’s amazing that you could always find a spot in almost every town in America.

Try evaluate Silver Seafood in uptown. Their seafood basket is very good. Also order their oyster and peapod with garlic.

I don’t quite remember the food but I remember being passed over for seating because my wife was Taiwanese and I was white.

Lol, Why would you go there? I am local from Chicago and the local Chinese ppl won't go there. These are the places that cater to non local Chinese people.

I was a tourist, so don't know much about the local Chinese community in Chicago. I would love to go back to try places local Chinese actually go to!

@@minutereviewshow actually we local Cantonese do go this restaurant. It's been an old Chinatown standby for us old-school Cantonese. I can't speak for where the newer immigrants dine.
