Last Thursday I was heading towards Indianapolis and at the 74-280 junction in Illinois I saw one of your coaches apparently heading west. Of course I thought of you and your channel immediately! I remember thinking "what are the odds that that's James driving."
I've been driving a tractor trailer for 11 years and next week I start my new job driving a bus. I'm excited and nervous and I've been binge watching all of your content on both channels. You've been very helpful and fun to watch. Thank you.
Hey justin! I wish you nothing but good luck my friend. Your words inspire me to keep making more videos and I appreciate that! Hey maybe we'll meet each other over the road one day if you're ever crossing through Urbana Champaign Illinois let me know we'll go out to lunch or something
@@JWangvlogs I'm on the east coast of Canada so I'm not sure how likely that will be but if I ever find myself heading that way I'll reach out for sure.

Wow! I just found the motor coach channel, and it led me to this channel. I’m a truck driver. But I’ve always been fascinated with the busses. When I was a kid, the only way we could travel any distance, was on a greyhound. And when you but a bus body on it with people expecting a comfortable ride, the suspension will not deliver since its designed to haul a heavier payload than the smaller F350's. But don't take my word for it. LOL
@@JWangvlogs thank you. I thought of the question because i saw some of the similar style shuttles on your lot.. dont know if they are the glavals built the same as the airport ones but it made me.think of it
I too currently drive shuttles at the airport for FedEx employees and pilots in Indianapolis. Those buses are killing me. Right know we have at least six of them that the air seat is broken and have been for over six months. They won’t fix them and that is what pushed me over the edge to find another job. After 8-10 hours in these I feel like bronco Billy 🥴😵💫.
Hey Mister KentC. Thanks for the comment. Yes they do make GPS units specially for trucks to identify what roads and bridges a truck will not fair well on. THey do not make one specially for buses. I dont know how well those truck GPS units do on updating drivers on construction.
I believe so, you can actually find special GPS units on Amazon that you can enter your vehicle height and it assures you won't get caught on a road with low bridges. Width, I'm not so sure. Part of my job here in Chicago (no less) is to draw traffic control plans for construction, and one rule we must stick to is allowing the traffic lane to remain no less than, I believe, 11 feet wide to always accommodate for CTA busses or else the permit department won't issue us a permit. Granted, they only get antsy like this about roads with bus routes on them, but chances are you won't be driving a motor coach or a semi truck down a street with ultra tight construction lanes on it. That tight squeeze he had to turn on in the video was Lake Shore Dr., and as tight as it was, as you can see he still made it. Semi trucks aren't allowed on there anyway but CTA busses do pass through there so they had to stick to that 11 foot or more lane width when placing those barricades.
When you're taking a trip like this, do you get to choose which coach you drive? I remember you saying you preferred one over another, but do you get to walk into the garage and say "I'm taking that one today"? Assuming of course that it's not down for maintenance.
Hey David! Typically no. The coaches are assigned by a collaboration between our fleet coordinator and technicians based on distance of the trip, needs of the group, and vehicle maintenance schedules. Sometimes if there are other coaches available I have the perk as a manager to change my coach assignment, however I clear it with the techs and fleet coordinator as well as the charter sales person to make sure that I am not jeopardizing any kind of requests or requirements. But for the most part our drivers including me, drive what we are assigned. A lot of logistics goes into figuring out the daily coach assignments.. especially if its super busy. So it usually irritates our team members when they have to juggle buses around and change a bunch of other drivers bus assignment's because someone is trying to drive a particular bus they like or have bonded with LOL.
@@richardlindor1960 yes I know what you mean. We don't assign a driver a permanent bus here so we have to remove our mounts and other gear after every trip. I usually avoid the ones with the stocky suction cups

We left them on Hays road next to the parking lot for the park and ubered there.
Your supervisor Kelly should have paid himself and not let you pay for the lunch. That was nice of you though.
Nah. I always like to treat others if I'm the one convincing them to try new things that I like. That way I won't feel bad If they don't like it lol 😆
Hey, what phone mount do you use?
It's a cheap suction cup phone mount I found at Ross dress for less store about 5 years ago.
@@JWangvlogs Im having trouble getting a good one since I constantly have to take them off and on each bus I drive
@@richardlindor1960 yes I know what you mean. We don't assign a driver a permanent bus here so we have to remove our mounts and other gear after every trip.
I usually avoid the ones with the stocky suction cups
@@JWangvlogs yeah true, i love my garmin one tho, im able to wipe ot down with an alcohol pad and get a good seal
Still laughing chicken nuggets
That was a stupid tight corner I hate those barriers they put up they don't think about buses and trucks
Yes that was a ridiculously tight corner they made. Especially with how much bus traffic they get...
