Hell yeaaaa.

After watching these city driving sequences, it brings back memories of how much more difficult it was maneuvering a 45 foot coach in NYC or hilly Quebec City traffic with a 4 speed Spicer double clutching gearbox. (MC-7's and GM 4905's in my small fleet) Especially to NOT "Bobble Head" the passengers with rough clutch work... bad for making good tips! I did appreciate that on Charters when you pulled into a Restaurant offloading 49 paying customers, the Driver's meal was usually comped.

If only there was a tried and true technology that has worked for 50 years. 🤔

Here in the UK the prisoner transport vehicles have proper cells and the prisoners cant see or talk to each other. They also only have small darkened windows.

I feel like for sound reduction they can put in acoustical ceilings like on school buses.

I actually think the MCI J4500 is aesthetically more attractive.

Wow I didn't know you came to DC like 3 years ago for the rally and I live in DC and operate buses for a living. I drove for WMATA, Greyhound, School Bus, and I'm an Independent Bus Operator often driving to Miami all the way up to Niagara Falls.... Plus Party buses

ABC really should have tried this themselves first so they could see what a disaster this idea was. Whoever at ABC thought it was a good idea to put a journalist in a woefully unprepared vehicle should be fired. This whole series just confirmed to me that we are not even vaguely close to being ready for electric busses. I love how everyone is excited about the trip. Little did they know the hell they were in for on this godforsaken trip. I'd love to hear your honest opinion of what this trip put you and your family through.

James, the "slice of life" type videos are where it's at. Don't worry about excitement level. Just seeing you get after it early in the AM and do your thing is the good stuff. Gets me pumped for getting up and doing my thing. These kind of videos are relaxing/wholesome in that way.

It looks like all those dividers are movable (you can see rails along the roof)? If they are, that is a great design. Only thing I can imagine will be a nightmare is keeping the perspex clean with it mounted so close to the punched steel plates. And if it's not kept clean, the officers loose their visability of the inmates (we still call them that here!). Is the interior pressure washable? Hi James, This was Very Interesting & Thanks for Sharing your Experience on the MCI New IST Vehicle Bus!! My Brother was a Illinois State Trooper Officer in Joliet, Illinois & my Ex Husband was a Correctional Officer in Danville, Illinois, so I learned a lot thru them!! A Wonderful Video!!

So the EV is not good in the cold and not easy to charge in the heat, we still have a long way to go.

I think for electric buses or commercial vehicles, you have to build your own charging infrastructures. It is probably still going to be challenging for long trips.

How do they handle it when an inmate needs to use the bathroom while underway? Thank you officers and MCI for making these necessary buses. Stay safe.
